Chapter 1196: The Era's End
Chapter 1196: The Era’s End
Yamato glanced at the thick Seastone chains, hesitating for a moment before taking action. Kuro wasted no time, snapping his fingers. Ten Navy officers swiftly bound the woman like a dumpling, wrapping her tightly.
The woman’s strength was formidable—being Kaido’s daughter, she possessed Conqueror’s Haki and a Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit. Though lacking a bounty, she was a threat that demanded containment.
Better to capture the whole family alongside Kaido.
With combat concluded, resistance ceased entirely. Under the Navy’s control, the prisoners were subdued one by one.
The gains were substantial.
Besides Kaido and his daughter, Scorching Disaster Kaido and Plague Quinn were captured. Among the Beasts Pirates’ “Six Crimson Stars,” only X Drake escaped. All others were seized.
When Kuro descended with the floating Castle Tower, he also discovered Blackbeard’s Giant Serpent, battered and bruised, along with Admiral Fujitora.
All key figures from the Beasts Pirates were accounted for.
Kuro glanced at the unconscious Blackbeard’s Giant Serpent and asked, “By the way, where’s that Peach Dragon? No one spotted it?”
Klah shook his head. “Apologies, Mr. Kuro. When we re-entered, we found no trace of the Peach Dragon or the Red Scabbards.”
The Red Scabbards—intelligence had identified them as one of the main instigators of the Wano Country conflict. Their presence had rallied numerous Wano samurai, sparking the war.
“Oh?”
Kuro narrowed his eyes, gazing at the distant crowd erupting in cheers. Their celebration of Kaido’s downfall was intriguing, yet they clustered tightly like a wall, as if concealing something.
“Forget it, it’s not important.”
Shaking his head, Kuro ordered, “Notify Headquarters to send reinforcements. Too many prisoners to handle alone.”
The prisoner count was staggering. The battle had involved over 30,000 Beasts Pirates and Wano samurai, plus roughly 5,000 under the Red Scabbards. Though some later switched allegiances, Kuro’s target remained the 30,000.
New World pirates were formidable. The Top War had pitted 100,000 Marines against 50,000 Whitebeard pirates—a battle where victory demanded sacrifice.
Kuro’s 3,000 troops had incapacitated most with Conqueror’s Haki, but once awakened, the prisoners would outnumber the guards. Mass executions were a last resort.
“Yes, sir!”
Klah obeyed, swallowing hard as he surveyed the aftermath.
Only now did he register the magnitude of recent events.
Mr. Kuro had boarded the battlefield having already captured Shanks, the Red-Haired Emperor. During combat, he’d slain another Emperor, Charlotte Big Mom, whose severed head remained. Now, the Beasts Pirates were fully subdued.
The Four Emperors’ Era had shattered—shattered by Mr. Kuro’s blade alone.
Pirate eras were shaped by titans: the Rocks Era, ended by Garp’s might; the Roger Era, concluded by Garp’s capture of Gol D. Roger. Though Whitebeard’s death marked a turning point, Kuro’s actions now signaled the end of an age that had persisted since Roger’s demise.
The Whitebeard conflict had seen Kuro’s intervention. Now, with Shanks captured, Big Mom slain, and Kaido imprisoned, he stood at the center of history’s upheaval.
Once the news spread…
Klah’s pupils widened. Mr. Kuro’s reputation would eclipse all others.
…
“Bororo…!”
“Blorp blorp blorp!”
“Blah blah blah!”
Across the New World, Marine Headquarters’ Transponder Snails rang incessantly. Navy officers rushed through corridors, shouting orders.
“Faster! Move faster! Prepare for immediate departure!”
Hooded officers’ voices echoed from fortresses to plazas.
At the top, Fleet Admiral Sakazuki clenched his crimson-fisted hand, scorching another hole into his desk as he hissed, “Three down! All three are gone! The Great Pirate Era is over!”
Before him stood the composed Admiral Kuzan and newly returned Yi Xiao, who had just escorted Shanks to Impel Down. He’d scarcely returned when news from Wano Country arrived.
Kuro had slain Charlotte Big Mom and captured the entire Beasts Pirates.
The Four Emperors—the titans of the seas—were no more.
“This time, Kuro’s achievements…”
Kuzan, hunched with age, rested his chin on his hands, his smile widening. “Truly spectacular!”
“Capturing the entire Beasts Pirates? Impressive indeed. To witness such a historic moment fills my heart with joy… though I regret not being there,” Yi Xiao remarked, his milky eyes gleaming.
Sakazuki tapped his desk impatiently. “Aren’t they ready yet?”
He’d mobilized the Navy as soon as Klah provided support. Transporting 30,000 pirates required countless warships—a display of Navy might.
“Boroboroboro!”
The Transponder Snail rang again.
Sakazuki glared, a blue vein throbbing. “Yi Xiao, expedite the fleet’s departure! He Popo, have all bases dispatched their warships?”
Kuzan sighed. “Answer it, Sakazuki. Let’s hear what they have to say.”
“Can’t you leave this to the fleet admirals for once?!” Sakazuki snapped.
Kuzan’s tone turned wry. “You’ve held this title for three years. You should know—there are matters even we cannot refuse.”
The desk smoldered further.
Sakazuki inhaled deeply, quelling his crimson aura, and picked up the receiver.
“Sakazuki! Order all warships to halt operations. This is not your hour to act!” The Transponder Snail’s voice was familiar.
“Why?” Sakazuki demanded.
Kuzan sighed again.
The Navy served the World Government’s will—this truth had never changed since its birth.
