Chapter 1188: Big Mom, You've Lived Too Long
Chapter 1188: Big Mom, You’ve Lived Too Long
The sound wasn’t an illusion—it was a solid strike against Kuro.
At the moment of the slash, Kuro had to manifest physically to execute such a powerful move. Charlotte Big Mom’s fist slammed into him with unrestrained force, sending a wisp of shockwave rippling through the air. Kuro’s body hurtled downward like a cannonball, shrieking “Shooooo!” as it plunged into the ground beside the bottomless abyss created by his earlier ability.
Boom!!
A mushroom-cloud of smoke and dust erupted, the shockwave fracturing the surrounding terrain.
“Kuro!!”
“Mamamama!!”
Lida shouted, rushing toward the smoke—only for Charlotte Big Mom’s Soul Devouring Wind to snare Napoleon midair, dragging the werewolf and his dangling tongue toward the ground.
“Room!”
Just then, Law activated his ability, teleporting their group from the high altitude to a lower altitude. One more use of Room would let them reach the ground and escape.
This was their chance. They wouldn’t waste it.
“Hey, Law! Isn’t this the perfect moment to take down Big Mom?!” Eustass Kid spat, still furious.
Luffy had beaten Kaido fair and square. How embarrassing was it that he and Law couldn’t handle Big Mom?!
“No time for that! I don’t think Golden Lion’s dead yet,” Law snapped, shifting them downward.
“Then let’s wait—”
Law cut Kid off. “We’re out of stamina!”
Kid gritted his teeth but fell silent.
They were barely hanging on. They’d already used their last reserves resisting Kuro’s Mystic Art. Even though the opportunity was slipping away, survival came first.
Law sighed, glancing at Jinbei cradling Luffy. His expression darkened.
As a doctor, he knew Luffy’s victory over Kaido—and his clash with Golden Lion—had come at a terrible cost. Something irreversible. No mere healing could fix this.
But whether Big Mom won or the Marines triumphed, Kaido’s fate no longer mattered to them.
They could do nothing now. The moment the Admiral arrived, everything changed.
“Time to go. Room!”
Law raised his hand, teleporting them—then froze.
The dust cloud below had cleared. Golden Lion was back.
Kuro’s body lay flat against the ground, limbs splayed, teeth bared, blood crusted on his lips.
“Kuro! Big Mom!” Lida cried.
“Old Man knows,” Kuro muttered, watching Big Mom charge toward him. He tried to lift his arm but failed, sighing. “I knew I’d get hurt, but damn… this is worse than expected.”
His limbs were shattered. Only his right hand twitched weakly.
He hadn’t fully dodged Big Mom’s attack. The slash hadn’t been an illusion—it was a blend of Haki intent and his own speed that let him evade her strike… barely. Then he’d counterattacked.
But not enough.
The Soul Aura clinging to Napoleon had weakened his Haki, leaving him vulnerable to Big Mom’s punch. The Soul Thunder stripped his remaining defenses, and the Soul Devouring Wind wrapped around him, amplifying the impact. He’d taken the full force of her Haki-fueled punch with his bare body.
Kuro’s physical form was nothing special—unlike the Four Emperors, his body couldn’t withstand such punishment. Without Haki protection, even a mortal’s fist from Charlotte Big Mom would leave him battered.
And worse—the Soul Flame had seared him briefly, costing him two or three months of lifespan.
That ability was monstrous. Irreversible.
Kuro sighed. At least he’d taken care of himself—living another hundred years wasn’t a problem. A few months of life was a small price.
“Kuro!!”
Lida snarled, teeth clenched, rushing to Kuro’s side, his fists crackling with essence energy as he glared skyward.
Big Mom was closing in!
Klahincarnation’s werewolf bounded forward, shielding Kuro, while Moer teleported beside him, ready to pull him away.
“Don’t need it,” Kuro said. “She’s already dead.”
“Mamamama! You’re the one dying!”
Charlotte Big Mom roared, Napoleon’s Soul Flame blazing. “I’LL Kill You All!”
“Kuro?”
Lida spun back, frantic. Kuro showed no signs of dying—his aura was strong!
Kuro exhaled, locking eyes with Big Mom.
“Don’t you feel it?”
Big Mom’s body stiffened mid-lunge. Her hand flew to her neck—
“No—”
A soft shhhk rang out. Like a seal breaking, her head slid sideways off her neck, rolling to the ground with a smooth thud.
Kuro smiled grimly.
“That’s the sound of Divine Wind’s weakness.”
“You’ve lived too long, Big Mom. The new age will end you sooner or later—by me, or someone else. Letting me kill you isn’t beneath you.”
His grin widened, cruel.
“So go ahead—die nicely.”
This was Bone Whistle’s solo version.
The only addition? He’d concentrated his entire Awakening Domain into that slash, unleashing his ultimate Mystic Art.
The most devastating attack Kuro had ever crafted. Across the Grand Line, none could surpass its power.
With this strike, Kuro’s destructive potential had ascended.
