Chapter 1186: Taking Out the Four Emperors in One Go Isn't So Bad
What defines the Yokai Blade as a Yokai Blade is its unique, abnormal abilities, far more erratic and dangerous than standard Famous Blades. This realm dives deep into treacherous waters—side effects too volatile for ordinary hands, requiring only someone like Kuro to maintain control.
Back in the East Blue, there was a legend of the "Seven-Star Sword", though its existence remains unconfirmed. According to rumors, it was a blade capable of controlling people’s minds, essentially a Yokai Blade with amplified side effects—though its true power remains debatable.
Each sword has distinct traits. The Yokai Blade specializes in releasing Killing Intent, possesses exceptional sharpness, and features blood-siphoning restoration. However, this self-replenishing trait implies its inherent durability isn’t high—if struck with immense force, especially without Haki reinforcement, it could shatter easily.
Take that green-haired brute’s "Yamato", for instance. Its effect is Haki release, allowing untrained users to unleash Haki slashes naturally, with power surpassing even seasoned experts.
Combat potential has ceilings, a truth Kuro increasingly recognizes. Mastering Haki slashes alone elevates one to legendary status. But channeling it through a Yamato-class blade to amplify its force beyond ordinary strong men? That places one at the pinnacle of the Grand Line.
This is why swordsmen prize exceptional blades. Even the finest swords suffer nicks or fractures in battle, but skilled smiths can repair them. Yet repairs degrade quality—each restoration chips away at a sword’s essence. A Supreme Great Quick Blade might degrade to a Great Quick Blade, then a Fine Quick Blade, eventually becoming a Famous Blade outside the eighty-three famed blades entirely.
But Kuro’s Yokai Blade defies this. It needs no repairs—absorbing blood restores it to pristine condition. This is a Famous Blade that never loses rank. Even if reduced to a hilt fragment, as long as a sliver remains, blood-siphoning restoration can revive it completely.
Kuro never feared its breakage—until now. This was the first time it had shattered.
He watched Charlotte·Big Mom snarling, her face contorted in a grotesque grimace. With a malicious grin, he taunted, "Hurt, Big Mom?"
"Of course it hurts!!"
She opened her Mouth, unleashing a colossal Sound Wave that trembled the air. The violent tremors made everyone—except Kuro—instinctively cover their ears, enduring the eerie wail.
This wasn’t ordinary sound. It carried Conqueror’s Haki.
"Emperor Sword!"
She raised Napoleon, its blade erupting in deeper white fire. Now laced with thunder and a malevolent wind capable of devouring nature itself, the flames and lightning spiraled around the blade.
Boom!
Her body launched like a Cannonball, exploding through the air with a deafening Explosive Boom, hurtling toward Kuro.
"Hand me your Soul!!!"
Her gruesome, maddened visage would terrify any witness. Yet the more unhinged she became, the deeper Kuro’s contempt grew.
As she lunged, she swung downward with a malevolent wind that scattered all elements in explosive dispersion, morphing into a beast-like force devouring its prey.
Kuro smirked at Napoleon, letting the blade cleave through him, splitting his body in two. Thunder shredded his Haki protection, the chaotic winds reducing his torso to shards, while the flames scorched the fragments into glowing embers.
Yet the severed skull, unfazed by pain, taunted, "Big Mom, after days of combat, you’ve finally lost your mind."
Charlotte·Big Mom stared at the head, stunned, before suddenly twisting her gaze behind her.
Hiss!
A colossal blood light slashed her back as she turned, erupting in a blood mist.
She howled in agony, her eyes sharpening to feral intensity. Her jaw—lined with serrated fangs—clamped shut. Twisting her body, she slashed again.
Hiss! This time, she bisected Kuro at the waist.
"You still don’t get it", Kuro muttered, eyeing his severed half as his lips curled. "You, without reason—"
The separated half vanished. His voice echoed from above Charlotte·Big Mom, where Kuro reappeared unscathed, Yokai Blade raised horizontally. Two fingers glided along the blade, igniting a golden glow.
In an instant, he yanked the blade backward, snarling, "Will never be my equal!"
"Aaaaah!!!"
Big Mom roared, tongue lolling, charging upward.
"One-Slice Annihilation!"
Screeee!
A piercing cry erupted as a Vermilion Bird, its edges glowing black-gold and ablaze with crimson fire, surged forth from Kuro’s slash. Flapping its wings, it barreled toward Charlotte·Big Mom.
The Vermilion Bird was massive, but so was this old woman. Her original height neared nine meters, yet now she swelled to fifteen, clashing head-on with the bird.
The Soul Flame swirling above her head proved useless—this attack targeted only physical slashes, not souls.
But the Soul Thunder and Soul Devouring Wind lashed out, consuming the Haki within the bird’s slashes and dispersing the air-stirring cuts. The Vermilion Bird dissolved instantly.
The essence of the Vermilion Bird lay in relentless slashes—slices that stirred the air itself, rooted in "nature." Thus, it fell prey to the Soul Devouring Wind.
Yet Kuro remained unfazed, as if expecting this all along.
The dissipated Vermilion Bird unleashed its purest Killing Intent, its mimicry flames enveloping Big Mom from all directions.
"I told you it’s useless!!"
The witch’s roar erupted from the flames. Her colossal form charged forth, her body crisscrossed with dense wounds, yet her expression turned even more grotesque.
"Is that so?"
Kuro loomed above her, eyes narrowing. The flames he’d scattered rushed back, engulfing her once more, while his figure ascended higher, gaze sharpening.
This old hag was losing her mind—her senses dulled, judgment failing, yet she’d become even harder to handle.
A rational Charlotte·Big Mom could retreat. If she truly wished to flee, Kuro couldn’t stop her.
But this Big Mom had no such intent. Her mind fixated on one goal—Kuro’s soul. Devouring it would bring her satisfaction!
She’d fight to the bitter end.
Then…
No need to hold back.
"Might get hurt…"
Kuro tightened his grip on the Yokai Blade, staring at the maddened figure writhing in flames, his tone sharpening. "But taking out the Four Emperors in one go… isn’t so bad."
