Chapter 1185
Alert
Except for Fangy and Tingbao, Qiao Sang, Migala, and Treasure Seeker all wore expressions of varying seriousness.
Even Dragon King, usually so carefree, had turned solemn.
Three days remained until the Fire Meteor’s descent… Qiao Sang’s heart felt heavy.
Migala coughed beside her.
“Pengpeng.”
Pengamei spoke up, translating the conversation for everyone.
Realizing her fears were confirmed, Migala’s mood darkened further.
Before such a catastrophe, even as an S-Class Beastmaster, she felt powerless to change anything.
As time passed, though it should have been nighttime, the Sun above showed no sign of disappearing. Instead, its heat intensified.
…
Mingzhou.
Blazing sun overhead.
The crowd and their familiars stared at the scorching sky.
“It’s already 9:30 PM, but the Sun’s still blazing. Does it even want us to live?”
“I feel like the days keep getting longer. Maybe they should just cancel the concept of night altogether.”
“Have you noticed the weather getting hotter?”
“Isn’t it always this hot?”
“Oh my gosh, I demand all future matches be held indoors! Watching a match outdoors would roast me alive. I even bought evening tickets, but it’s no different from morning!”
On the street, a simply dressed woman wiped sweat from her forehead while holding an umbrella.
A fashionably dressed girl handed her a small ice ball radiating a chill aura.
“Mom, you should keep this instead.”
“What would I need this for?” the woman scolded gently. “I bought this specially for you. Keep it safe and take it to university. Zhengzhou’s much hotter than here.”
Hearing this, the girl pulled her hand back with a grin. “How much did this cost you? Later, I’ll buy you one too.”
“I don’t need you buying anything for me,” the woman replied. “Your living expenses already have to support both you and your fire hawk. Where would you get extra money?”
“I’m a Beastmaster now. I can take part-time jobs with Fire Hawk,” the girl said dismissively.
Before the woman could speak, the entire city suddenly erupted with piercing, high-pitched Alert sirens.
Pedestrians and familiars on the streets halted, glancing around in confusion.
In high-rises, bungalows, shops, and malls, people and their familiars stopped to peer outside.
A cacophony of murmurs filled every corner of the city.
“Startled me! What’s going on?”
“No idea!”
“Was that an emergency alert or a fire alarm? Doesn’t sound like either.”
“I think it’s the disaster prevention alert.”
“Disaster prevention alert? What’s happening?”
As the Alert blared, panic, anxiety, and fear instinctively gripped the crowd and their familiars.
No one knew how long it lasted, but eventually, the sirens ceased. A calm, mature voice, amplified as if through an Amplifier, echoed across Mingzhou:
“All citizens, please evacuate Mingzhou in an orderly manner within two days. According to Prediction, a Fire Meteor will fall three days from now. Do not Panic. Take only essential items and evacuate calmly.”
“Staff members with spatial transfer skills will offer free transportation 24 hours a day. Please remain calm and evacuate in order.”
Immediately after, a familiar voice sounded:
“Fang Fang.”
“Fang Fang.”
“Fang…”
Before it could finish, the crowd and their familiars scattered in panic toward their homes to gather belongings.
“Damn it! The Fire Meteor’s coming already?!”
“Aaaaah! I just finished paying off my mortgage!”
“Forget about the house! Run home and grab your stuff! Which matters more—your life or your property?”
“Mu Mu!” A young familiar, clueless about the chaos, looked around frantically at the fleeing crowd.
“Don’t worry. I’ll get you out safely,” said the nearby Young Innkeeper. With a wave of his hand, he recalled the panicked familiar into his Beastmaster Codex.
Once done, his hand trembled slightly before he bolted at the fastest Speed he could muster.
Hotel.
Beside a floor-to-ceiling window.
The long-haired woman watched the commotion outside, frowning. She turned decisively.
“Meimei, pack up. Dragon King, stop practicing. Prepare yourself. We’re leaving.”
“Pengpeng.”
“Momo.”
…
Zhengzhou.
Fire Spirit Ore Vein.
Migala gazed at the sky, saying grimly, “The Sun’s getting bigger.”
Qiao Sang looked up. Though she hadn’t noticed it before, she could now clearly sense the Sun’s size increasing.
Li Ou Yasi’s expression grew severe as he suddenly expanded his body.
Though Divine Rank familiars were said to grow large enough to blot out the sky, Li Ou Yasi stopped at around thirty meters tall.
“Lili.”
With a claw strike against the ground, massive fissures instantly split the barren land.
The unyielding earth exploded, sending countless Fire Spirit Crystals soaring into the air.
Intense heat waves surged as all the crystals melted into molten fire gems rushing toward Li Ou Yasi.
Unmoved, Li Ou Yasi absorbed the fiery torrent into his body.
Fangy, her belly swollen, burped lazily as she watched.
“Hic…”
As she let out another burp, Li Ou Yasi turned his gaze toward her.
A stream of fire gems separated from the mass, rushing into Fangy’s body.
“Ya Ya!”
Flames erupted around Fangy.
Qiao Sang inhaled sharply, her instincts flaring. “Wait—the Fire Meteor isn’t supposed to fall for three days!”
Migala remained silent for a moment before replying gravely, “The Fire Meteor arrives in three days, but that doesn’t mean the Sun explosion will wait.”
A chill ran down Qiao Sang’s spine as she stared at the sky again.
The Sun above emitted a blinding halo—larger and hotter than usual, but otherwise indistinguishable from normal.
Was it really about to explode?!
“Lili.”
Before Qiao Sang could finish her thought, Li Ou Yasi suddenly turned toward Colorful Bud’s Xialala.
In the next second, eyes locked on the sky, Li Ou Yasi pushed off the ground, erupting into a column of flame shooting skyward.
“Xia Xia!”
Understanding, Colorful Bud’s Xialala roared urgently, chasing after.
Yet before he reached a hundred meters, a red barrier abruptly descended, blocking his path.
Blinding light expanded, engulfing Li Ou Yasi’s flames.
“Xia Xia!”
Xialala let out a mournful roar.
Li Ou Yasi… Qiao Sang watched the scene, her heart pierced by unbearable sorrow.
Meanwhile, no one noticed the Everstone on Fangy’s claw glowing white.
