Chapter 1181: I, Kuro, Shall Name You 'Great Pirates'
Chapter 1181: I, Kuro, Shall Name You ‘Great Pirates’
That sword aura.
Marco wasn’t blind or foolish. As a former Crew Captain of the Whitebeard Pirates and one of Whitebeard’s most trusted lieutenants, his seasoned experience allowed him to recognize the sheer devastation behind that glowing blade’s power.
“Brace yourselves! Whatever you do, brace yourselves!!”
Marco roared over his shoulder at his men. “You’ll die if you don’t!!”
“What terrifying…”
Even from a distance, Bissta’s hands gripping his twin blades trembled. His eyes locked onto Kuro’s radiant sword as he gritted his teeth. “Swordsmanship!”
As a swordsman, his vision surpassed even Marco’s. That blade—when swung—would kill.
Kuro let Yokai Blade leave his shoulder, gripped the hilt with both hands, and slashed forward in a single, decisive arc.
Almost simultaneously, everyone except Charlotte·Big Mom assumed defensive stances.
Huuu!
Within the chaotic space, they felt an unnatural gust of wind brushing against their bodies as Kuro swung his blade.
Then…
That was it?
The crew members glanced down at themselves. Other than the wind’s caress, nothing had happened. No injuries.
Charlotte·Big Mom’s physically strong son burst into laughter. “Hahaha! Nothing at all! This Golden Lion isn’t even that strong. Did his technique fail?”
“Shut up!” Perospero barked, his face oozing streams of candy syrup. His tongue trembled as he stared at his brother in fear.
His defensive Haki and candy coating had yet to be lifted.
Chee.
The glow on Yokai Blade vanished. Kuro flicked the blade sideways, releasing a wispy whistle through the air.
“Can’t you hear it?”
He chuckled lightly. “The death wind’s prelude.”
Huuuu!!!
The wind howled even more violently.
“Life OR Dead!!”
Almost simultaneously with Kuro’s slash, white flames erupted from Charlotte·Big Mom’s eyes. Her arm finally moved freely, unleashing a tremor that shattered the chaotic air surrounding her. Her giant fingers clenched forward, swallowing the souls of her children and Whitebeard’s men around her like a tidal surge.
“Soul Tremor!!”
Charlotte·Big Mom released a monstrous roar. The shockwave briefly repelled the chaotic air, and she clenched her fist, covering it with the surging soul tide before unleashing a tremendous force.
Boom!!
The air around her shook violently. Immediately, delicate cries of “Mother!” rose around her, but those voices vanished as the wind swept through.
At that moment, Marco’s body, encased in blue flames, explosively dispersed. The flames momentarily extinguished, portions of his form mysteriously hollowed out before the fire reignited, filling the gaps.
He convulsed, clearly showing pain.
He was wounded!
Though his body remained intact, he could feel the injury!
Then, he heard rustling—a sound like petrified sand shifting in the wind.
“Hey, Marco…”
A hoarse voice rasped from his side. He turned to witness a horrifying sight. Marcogay, the closest captain with thunder-wielding blades—‘Thunder Lord’ Marcogay—was disintegrating into fine sand-like particles, vanishing into the chaotic space.
No blood. No severed limbs. Nothing. He was erased as if he’d never existed.
Others shared his fate.
Both Big Mom Pirates and Whitebeard Pirates froze, then dissolved as if the wind itself could melt flesh. A single gust, and they melted away entirely.
The number of combatants was significant. Excluding those initially slain by Kuro’s first slash, every remaining warrior bore a name and reputation. Yet this single attack scattered them like dust, as if they’d never existed—even their weapons dissolved in the wind.
Only a few remained.
Among Big Mom’s children, Kuro didn’t know most names. He recognized a few: Perospero, whose candy syrup vanished entirely, leaving his left calf missing; Daifuku, now drenched as if soaked, his Haki heavily drained. A few women survived too.
On the Whitebeard side, Marco and Bissta remained, along with a few unnamed others.
As for Luffy’s group, Jinbei had tightly embraced Luffy and Zoro during Kuro’s slash, nearly fusing them into his body. Now, his protective Haki was shattered, his skin flayed raw, bloodied and exposed. Within the gaps of his embrace, a white werewolf blocked the space. Yamato’s body bore no injuries but panted heavily, ice fragments falling from her form as they drifted into the wind.
In that instant, she’d been stripped of her icy layers, cleaned down to the core, leaving only a trace.
Was that a defensive technique?
Mythical Zoan, huh?
Eustass Kid and Law also survived. Eustass Kid’s mechanical arm at the stump was gone—during the attack, he’d not only applied Haki but dismantled the arm, wrapping it around himself for defense.
Law remained unharmed physically but drenched in sweat, clearly drained of strength.
The Surgery Fruit still had some use—had he blocked the attack with his ability?
“Oh? A few survived. I thought only Big Mom, her eldest son, Marco, and a few Super Novas from Luffy’s side would last.” Kuro chuckled, surprised.
The Killing Intent Domain allows unlimited slashes within its range, while the awakened ability’s chaotic field would fragment any strike into countless shards. By combining Wu Sheng Kong Sha with the Mystic Art of the Murderous Blade, this slash underwent complete transformation—from arbitrary strikes to an all-encompassing wave.
Like its name, Bone Whistle, it blew away even bones.
But these survivors were elites of the Grand Line. Some had survived Sakazuki’s attacks during the Top War, facing one or two exchanges against me. That’s normal. If they couldn’t even endure a single slash, the Pirate Era would’ve been filled with commoners long ago, with no room for Shichibukai or the New World.
I’m not boasting. Wu Sheng Kong Sha is a force only Haki can ‘defend’ against. Some eerie abilities might evade or resist it.
Physical constitution? Irrelevant. Even the strongest frames—like Charlotte·Big Mom—would realize cruelty firsthand if they relied on flesh instead of full combat power.
Their Haki was formidable, but after that slash, it had clearly been drained.
Seeing their battered forms, Kuro smiled faintly.
“A commendable feat. Take pride—those who survived my slash, I, Kuro, shall name you ‘Great Pirates.’”
Then he stepped forward, entering the chaotic domain. His light chuckle twisted into a gruesome grin.
“Now then, Great Pirates… prepare to die.”
