Chapter 118: A New Guest Arrives
Chapter 118: A New Guest Arrives
With Liam's involvement, the Weasley Twins' vision became a reality much faster. Liam could already see a flood of Galleons filling his pockets in the future.
In the final match, Gryffindor, riding high on their two consecutive victories, defeated Ravenclaw by a large margin. After several years, they once again lifted the House Cup.
That night, during the celebration party in the Common Room, Liam and Hermione found a quiet corner to discuss Ancient Runes while sipping Pumpkin Juice, unable to squeeze into the circle around Harry Potter.
Ginny approached them, looking very nervous.
"Harry won the championship today. Why not go congratulate him?" Hermione teased. After all, everyone could see the deep admiration Ginny had for Harry.
"I have something I want to ask you", Ginny said softly, blushing.
"Sure, we'll answer if we know", Hermione said sincerely, looking at Ginny.
Ginny opened her mouth but no sound came out. Liam, sensing her nervousness, leaned in and whispered, "Don't worry, whatever you say will stay between us. You know Hermione and I aren't the type to spread rumors."
Her confidence bolstered, Ginny took a deep breath and said, "I—I like Harry. How can I make him like me back?"
Liam's hand, holding his Pumpkin Juice, froze in mid-air. He had never expected Ginny to ask about a romantic issue. For a man who had been single in both his lives, this was a bit too close to home.
As for why Ginny was asking them, it was probably because of the occasional after-school study sessions they held. As the most active participants, they were seen by Ginny as reliable older siblings. Not to mention, Liam and Hermione were also close friends with Harry.
By the time Liam snapped out of his thoughts, Hermione had already started giving Ginny advice, though it sounded like she was quoting from books. Despite having no experience herself, Ginny nodded along eagerly.
While Hermione was talking, Liam took a moment to gather his thoughts. When Hermione paused, Liam chimed in, "Actually, Harry is less mature than you. If you tell him directly, it might scare him off. I think you should focus on improving yourself and just have normal conversations with him. Eventually, Harry will come to understand your feelings."
After the impromptu counseling session, they celebrated a bit more until Professor Mcgonagall came in and ordered everyone to bed. The party finally came to an end.
Just as Liam finished washing up and got into bed, he received a notification that a new guest had arrived at the emporium. He quickly put on his cloak and, still in his pajamas, headed to the emporium.
As soon as he entered, he saw a woman in her twenties lying on the ground, her face pale, her breathing almost nonexistent. There was a large wound on her neck, and she appeared to be frozen, covered in frost.
Was this the result of a battle with a Frost Dragon? Is she still alive? Liam was taken aback by the situation. He used Soul Detection from Life Magic and saw that the guest's soul was still in her body, indicating she was still alive. However, her soul was rapidly dissipating, and she looked like she was about to die.
Liam panicked, as he had never encountered such a situation before. Fortunately, he had prepared many Elixirs to combat the Basilisk, and he had stored them in the emporium. He quickly grabbed a bottle of White Fresh Essence and a Healing Potion from the pile.
He first sprinkled White Fresh Essence on the wounds of the injured person, then made her drink a bottle of Healing Potion. Next, Liam drew out his wand and began reciting an ancient Soul Spell: Soul Stabilization. He could feel his magic power surging into the wand like a tidal wave, then transforming into a fine, continuous stream of magic power that flowed into the woman's body.
This multi-faceted treatment continued for nearly ten minutes, until Liam started to feel fatigued. Finally, the woman's soul stopped dissipating. Watching her vital signs gradually stabilize, Liam let out a long sigh of relief. Thanks to the time he had spent learning from Madam Pomfrey, his mastery of Life Magic had improved significantly. Otherwise, he might not have been able to save her this time.
After bandaging the wounds with specialized bandages, Liam noticed that the woman's blue clothing seemed rather thin. He was concerned that she might suffer from hypothermia due to the significant blood loss, which could further endanger her life. So, he used a Levitation Charm to make her float, then wrapped her in a blanket he had prepared for camping.
Having stabilized the injured woman, Liam began to worry. After all, the emporium was not a Hospital Wing, and it was not suitable for someone to recuperate there. Given her soul damage, it would be best to keep her in a state of unconsciousness to aid her recovery.
After some thought, Liam opened a portal to the Plants vs. Zombies World. Upon checking, he found that sending her there would cost only two Deviation Points.
It seemed that this person was not very important in her world, otherwise, it wouldn't have required so few Deviation Points. This realization was somewhat disheartening for Liam, as it meant he wouldn't earn many Deviation Points from this guest. Nevertheless, he sent the injured woman to the Hospital Wing within the Fortress that Dave had recently built, entrusting her care to the doctors there.
Unlike his previous rushed visit, Liam now had the time to tour the recent developments of the place after settling the injured woman.
The construction of the Fortress was nearing completion, and extensive plantations had been established around it. People were moving in and out of the Fortress, appearing more numerous than in the town.
This influx of people was likely due to the establishment of a stable base, attracting scattered individuals seeking refuge. Additionally, Kenvi had made multiple sea voyages, rescuing many people from nearby islands where they had been hiding.
Liam observed that the people here seemed to be in less than ideal condition. Most had rough, weathered skin, as if they had endured many hardships. Their clothing was mismatched, either washed-out and patched, or made from rough animal hides. However, their rosy complexions indicated that they had been living well recently, and their faces were filled with hope.
Despite the current population issues, everyone was confined to the area around the Fortress, relying on its support for their activities. The actual controlled area was just a small coastal plain. Still, Liam saw a glimmer of hope in the residents, a hope for the resurgence of humanity.
