Chapter 1179: The Future King
Chapter 1179: The Future King
Just as Youxuan had expected, Shirley and Mizoguchi came looking for the Public Order Maintenance Bureau early the next morning.
The events of last night had been bizarre. Youxuan, using Shirley's card as a medium, had successfully communicated with Zone, and the conversation had been quite fruitful. However, from the perspective of the others, the situation had been much stranger.
In their view, after the card was analyzed by the supercomputer, the dimension had fractured, space had shattered, and they had been tossed into a whirlwind of confusion before losing consciousness. When they woke up, they found themselves on the lawn outside the building.
Naturally, they had to come back to "Gothwin" to find out what had really happened.
However, Youxuan didn't tell them about Zone yet. The information was too much for an ordinary person to believe. He simply said that he, like them, had been transported to another place but left out the part about his conversation with Zone.
Shirley was a bit disappointed. It seemed that the trip had yielded little, but Youxuan had indeed proven that the card she held, named "Zone", possessed extraordinary power, capable of shattering space and instantly transporting people, which was beyond the realm of normal understanding.
This undoubtedly lent credibility to some of Youxuan's previous claims, making Shirley take the possibility of time travel more seriously.
Youxuan then returned the "Zone" card to Shirley.
After all, the card was currently unusable, serving only as a key to activate the time machine. The effects section of the card was blank, indicating it was in an undeveloped, inactive state and couldn't be used in a Duel.
Moreover, he and Shirley were building an alliance, and they weren't enemies. Shirley wasn't a villain who used Duels for evil deeds, and the card was the only memento left by her father. Youxuan had no reason to keep it for himself.
He didn't want future generations to say he was a card-grabber, ready to snatch any Deck he saw, damaging his reputation.
Shirley left, but the determination in her eyes was stronger than ever.
If before it was just the fire of vengeance, now there was a glimmer of hope in her eyes. She saw a ray of light, a future she wanted, not just a means of venting her anger.
From now on, she would likely be more relentless in her efforts to get closer to Daito.
After seeing Shirley off, Youxuan dismissed his subordinates, including Yego, who had come to pay his usual respects.
Then, he entered the restricted area of the Public Order Maintenance Bureau, heading to the supercomputer once again.
No one in the building knew that, since yesterday, a spatial rift had opened here. Though invisible to the naked eye, the spatial barrier had weakened, and an invisible crack had formed.
The shadow of a Chaos Soldier flickered beside Youxuan, swinging its sword. The transparent crack, which already existed, now widened into an entrance large enough for a person to pass through.
Youxuan stepped in. After another blinding flash of light, he found himself back in the place from yesterday.
A space filled with white light, endless and boundless.
A translucent shadow appeared in the space, gradually solidifying into the massive Nautilus, Zone's form.
"Thanks for helping with the clown problem yesterday."
Youxuan clapped his hands and said.
"Now, let's talk in detail about the issue of me becoming the ultimate antagonist. What's the script?
Am I supposed to transform into the ultimate Mark of the Abyss, summon the Ultimate God, and open the gates of the Underworld to destroy the world?"
"Alright."
Zone said casually.
"But before that, there's someone else who wants to meet you."
Ripples spread through the space once more, and another figure emerged.
Dressed in a tight blue outfit with a distinctive red visor, Youxuan immediately recognized who it was.
"Antinomy, right?"
Antinomy was taken aback. "You know me?"
Zone pondered for a moment before saying, "Do you have counterparts of us in your dimension?"
Zone, with his extensive knowledge, quickly considered this possibility. In the multiverse, parallel worlds are infinite, and it's not unusual for people to have counterparts in other dimensions.
Zone was certain that Youxuan had never met them before, yet he was so familiar with their group. The only explanation was that he had encountered other versions of them in other universes.
"Sort of, but I've never met you. I've only heard about you", Youxuan nodded. "The last human facing the apocalypse, the savior of the human race, willing to sacrifice everything for the continuation of the species. In my world, this story is widely known, and countless people admire this spirit."
What he said wasn't a lie, but by "my world", he meant the original reality before his travels, not the GX dimension he had previously been in.
In reality, the story of 5DS was widely known, and the future quartet, including Zone, had a large fan base of card players who deeply respected their actions.
"Calling me a savior is a bit much", Zone sighed. "I'm just trying to make up for my failures."
"Zone", Antinomy interjected.
But Zone only gestured for him to stop, saying calmly, "Since you know about us, things will be simpler.
His name is Antinomy, one of my companions and possibly the strongest among us.
He is, to my knowledge, the only 'king' of the final human generation before the apocalypse."
Youxuan couldn't help but give Antinomy a closer look.
He knew Antinomy's background. Antinomy was a fan of Yusei Fudo, a Duelist who firmly followed the path left by the legendary Yusei Fudo.
Antinomy followed the same path as Yusei, mastering the Mirror of the Heart and the Ultimate Mirror of the Heart, and advancing from Accel Synchro to the more advanced Tri-Force Accel Synchro. His combat strength, as shown in the anime, was among the top in the entire 5DS series.
Moreover, Yusei's mastery of the Mirror of the Heart, Accel Synchro, and even the "Shooting Quasar Dragon" in the final battle, were all taught by Antinomy. Many viewers believed that Antinomy's last battle with Yusei was to teach Yusei the realm of the Ultimate Mirror of the Heart, and it was likely that he held back.
If they had truly fought to the death, Yusei might not have been a match for Antinomy.
Now, Youxuan picked up on another important piece of information from Zone's words.
Zone said Antinomy was the "king" of the last human generation.
This meant he had reached the realm of a king. Even if he hadn't been officially recognized as the Duel King in his time, he possessed the strength and skill of one.
"Duel King from another world, let's have a Duel!"
Antinomy challenged Youxuan.
"Let me see the might of a champion from another world!"
