Chapter 117: Pirates Should Be Eliminated by the Navy
"Hmph!"
Lordsward glared in irritation at the slaves, jabbing the tip of his scepter hard into the back of one below him. "Hurry up and move, you wretched beast!"
Half the scepter sank into the slave’s flesh.
The slave didn’t flinch. He simply crawled forward on hands and knees.
Kuro walked with the main group, glancing occasionally at the world noble’s slave mount below.
The massive slave passed them by, and for an instant, Kuro subtly turned his head, his lips quivering slightly.
Kuro’s steps faltered. He looked back.
After a long pause, he sighed faintly.
His pupils suddenly constricted.
"Eye Sword."
A soft murmur. The giant slave’s body trembled, then collapsed sideways, hurling Lordekward off its back onto the ground.
"Rozward the Saint!"
The guards panicked, swarming around him in confusion.
The world noble had fallen! A grave incident.
"Quick, call a doctor! Rozward the Saint is injured!"
The guard who had spoken earlier flailed his arms, even more agitated.
"Shut up!"
Bang!
Lordsward drew a golden pistol, firing directly into the guard’s chest. Blood splattered as the man clutched his wound, stuttering in disbelief, "Rozward the Saint... I’ve always been loyal..."
His body slumped.
Assisted to his feet, Lordekward ignored the fallen guard and fired several shots into the dead slave.
"Damned inferior! Dying before reaching the destination? Hey, I’m a world noble! Wake up and carry me!"
The bullets made the corpse twitch, seemingly reviving it slightly. The slave strained to turn its head, gazing at Kuro, lips quivering once more.
Finally, its eyes dulled, its aura vanishing.
It died with a faint smile.
Kuro exhaled a plume of smoke, ignoring the chaos behind him.
The giant man murmured twice:
First: "Help me."
Second: "Thank you."
"World nobles are terrifying", Lucius Kro mused, dropping beside Kuro. "Hey Kuro, what did you just do?"
"Me? Grandpa, don’t talk nonsense. I just noticed that world noble’s slave was failing, so I paid attention", Kuro shook his head vehemently.
"Oh~ That slave? I remember—he used to be a pirate", Lucius Kro added after a pause.
"A pirate?"
Kuro narrowed his eyes, grinning. "Pirates should be eliminated by the Navy, right? At the very least, they should die on the Grand Line!"
But either way, this one fell by my Navy hand.
You think a world noble killed that pirate?
No—it was me, Kuro!
Akainu’s eyes lit up. "Correct! Against pirates, the Navy must show no mercy!"
He turned to Kuro. "Won’t you consider joining old man Sakazuki?"
What did I say?
What do you mean?
You want me to go to the New World with you to hunt pirates?
Your mouth opens, and I can already see Liu, Guan, and Zhang.
"Oh-ho-ho, Sakazuki, stop poaching old man’s subordinates. A compatible subordinate isn’t easy to find, you know", Lucius Kro chuckled.
"All Navy. It’s the same wherever."
Hebi nodded. "Still, you handled that well. But remember—we’re in Mariejois, not Marine Headquarters."
Everyone understood Kuro’s silent message through the smoke. They played along because they shared his disdain.
"Granny Hebi, I know", Kuro replied.
No one objected. They all felt satisfied.
A little pushback against a world noble did wonders for one’s health.
---
The group entered the golden palace, following armored soldiers through a maze of corridors to a meeting room.
Hebi, Garp, and the Three Admirals took seats, while others stood behind them.
Kuro dutifully moved behind Lucius Kro, chewing a cigar and exhaling smoke.
Sengoku wasn’t there yet, but everyone waited quietly.
Half an hour later, the meeting room doors opened. Sengoku strode in wearing a white Navy uniform adorned with medals, one hand in his pocket, sitting at the head.
"Begin. This meeting concerns the world’s future." Sengoku’s tone was grim.
The room tensed.
"Portgas D. Ace", he continued, glancing at Garp. "Captured by Blackbeard. We’re cornered—we must act. The Navy can’t hand a pirate to another. That would disgrace us. We have no choice but to strike."
"This is also our chance to eliminate a Yonko. Using Ace as bait, Whitebeard will walk into a trap. I’ve decided to execute him publicly!"
Garp’s fists clenched.
Akainu tightened his own, fists glowing red. "This will end the Great Pirate Era once and for all!"
"Oh~ How scary. Still, it’s worth a try", Lucius Kro said, eyes wide.
"Ara ara, though expected, the thought of war with Whitebeard feels surreal", Kuzan scratched his head.
"Hebi, your thoughts?" Sengoku asked.
Hebi nodded. "The Grand Line has more than just Newgate. If we wage war, we must prepare for others to strike. Especially..." She paused. "Kaido. He’s our second concern."
The New World’s Four Emperors: Big Mom holed up in Whole Cake Island, rarely venturing out. Red-Haired stayed within his territory.
Only Kaido—the madman—was unpredictable.
The Three Admirals had all faced him. They knew his madness.
If Whitebeard joins the war, Kaido might interfere.
Fighting Whitebeard alone is terrifying. Adding Kaido, and victory is uncertain.
"Though higher-ups will try to stop Kaido, we must prepare for both."
Sengoku fixed the Admirals. "The Marine Headquarters will prepare to face two Yonko in this war!"
The Navy had confidence.
Three Admirals, Sengoku, Garp—their greatest fighters were here.
Two Four Emperors? A matchable challenge.
