Chapter 117: Ninth Layer of Qi Refinement, Treating the Strange Serpent
Chapter 117: Ninth Layer of Qi Refinement, Treating the Strange Serpent
In the spirit field, various spirit herbs were thriving.
The third-grade Misty Smoke Herb was enveloping a larger area in its smoke, fortunate that Lu Chen had left ample space beforehand, preventing it from affecting the surrounding spirit plants.
The Flood Dragon Vine had pitch-black vines adorned with alluring red and green patterns, resembling a venomous snake lurking in the shadows.
The two second-grade spirit plants obtained from the Agricultural Temple, the Luminous Tree and the Darkbloom, had also grown significantly. The Luminous Tree's semi-transparent spiritual silk threads were increasing, and Lu Chen had to put in a lot of effort to guide them properly.
The cave where the Yin Huai grew was filled with an increasingly heavy yin energy, and one could feel a chill upon entering.
The Bronze Bone Bamboo had taller and deeper-colored joints.
The twenty-eight Blood Jade Ginseng plants obtained through the condensation method were also growing well, reassuring Lu Chen about the Spirit Plant Condensation technique.
The Spirit Firefly Grass had entered the mass maturation stage, and after examining each one carefully, Lu Chen harvested thirty fully mature plants.
Among them, seven were of good quality, fifteen were of superior quality, and the remaining eight were of perfect quality.
This left one hundred and sixteen Spirit Firefly Grass plants. Of course, Lu Chen didn't plan to harvest them all; he intended to leave some for condensing the spirit plant's essence.
After the harvest, thirty faintly flickering white light orbs appeared.
Lu Chen absorbed them one by one, and the rewards flashed through his mind like a carousel.
The orbs granted him nearly seven years' worth of cultivation, as a vast amount of spiritual energy surged into his body, raging through his dantian and meridians.
"My achievements today are due to my own hard work!"
"Light orbs, boost my cultivation!"
Lu Chen whispered in his heart.
When he calmed down, he sensed that he had quietly broken through a profound barrier, advancing to the ninth layer of Qi Refinement.
"Ninth layer of Qi Refinement..."
"The next step is to accumulate cultivation diligently and increase the possibility of breaking through to the Foundation Establishment stage."
Lu Chen's heart was filled with mixed emotions. In just two and a half years, his cultivation had skyrocketed from the second layer of Qi Refinement to the ninth layer, and even the once out-of-reach Foundation Establishment stage didn't seem far away.
"With my natural talent, background, and resources, I might not have been able to break through to the third layer of Qi Refinement, let alone the middle or higher stages, in two and a half years."
He secretly thought, immensely grateful for the tremendous opportunity presented by the white light orbs.
After calming his thoughts, Lu Chen approached the three second-grade Clearwonder Spirit Tea plants.
On the old tree's roots, there were still fourteen tender green tea leaves, exuding a refreshing fragrance that invigorated the senses.
"Another four Clearwonder Spirit Tea leaves have reached full maturity. Hey, a second-grade spirit plant."
Lu Chen chuckled softly as he plucked the four mature tea leaves.
Among the four leaves, three were of good quality, and one was of superior quality.
He carefully picked up the white light orbs that appeared where the tea leaves had been.
One by one, thoughts flashed through his mind.
【Harvested one Clearwonder Spirit Tea leaf, obtained a third-grade pill, Dust Descending Pill.】2
Two fragrant and round Dust Descending Pills appeared in his palm.
Lu Chen carefully stored them in his storage bag along with the others he had obtained before.
【Harvested one Clearwonder Spirit Tea leaf, obtained a third-grade talisman, Spirit Purification Talisman.】
It was still the third-grade Spirit Purification Talisman, effective against odd-level evil spirits.
Lu Chen anticipated the white light orb that the last superior-quality tea leaf would bring.
【Harvested one Clearwonder Spirit Tea leaf, obtained a third-grade cultivation technique, Jade Refining Bone Forging Art (Upper Section)
.】
As the thought flashed by, a wealth of information flooded Lu Chen's mind, all pertaining to the cultivation methods, insights, and experiences of the Jade Refining Bone Forging Art at the Qi Refinement stage.
With a hint of regret, Lu Chen surveyed his spirit field once more. He consecutively cast Spirit Rain Technique, Earth Drawing Technique, and Wood Birth Technique, meticulously tending to the subtle needs of each spirit plant.
Half a day passed in the blink of an eye, and it was almost mealtime for the Flood Dragon beasts. Lu Chen rented a spirit crane and soon arrived at his base for raising the Flood Dragon beasts.
He received the specially ordered meat, with specific varieties and quantities, from the cultivators who prepared the beast meat, and made his way to the high platform.
On the lake below the platform, dozens of Flood Dragons and Giant Pythons were lined up neatly, their thick tails swaying gently as they caught sight of Lu Chen's figure, clearly excited.
"Alright, everyone, mealtime! No need to rush, I'll make sure you all eat your fill!" Lu Chen said as he used his spiritual power to grab a chunk of beast meat and threw it into the respective areas of the Flood Dragons.
The numerous Flood Dragons, Giant Pythons, and Strange Boas had completely adapted to their new feeding method and slowly savored the delicious beast meat. Occasionally, a glint of ferocity flashed in their eyes, but it quickly vanished when they looked up at Lu Chen towering above them on the platform.
"Roar~ Roar~"
Just as Lu Chen was about to leave, a fiery Strange Boa remained in its designated area, letting out low roars, its voice carrying a pleading tone.
"Hmm?" Lu Chen paused and looked down, carefully observing the Strange Boa's body.
The Strange Boa seemed to understand his concern and flipped its belly up, revealing a deep wound on its stomach, the flesh rolled up, indicating intense pain.
"Are you injured?" Lu Chen asked with concern.
The second-grade Strange Boa seemed to understand his question and nodded gently, enduring the pain.
"Was it one of your companions that you shared meals with?" Lu Chen's eyes flashed with a cold glint.
"Roar..." The fiery Strange Boa quickly shook its head, indicating a negative response.
"Looks like it was one of the other Flood Dragons from a nearby area," Lu Chen said, relieved that it wasn't one of the beasts he was raising.
Thousand Dragon Lake stretched for hundreds of miles, and the environments where first and second-grade Flood Dragons and Giant Pythons lived weren't clearly distinguished. They each found their own waters to inhabit.
Thus, there were occasional scuffles over territory and resources. This second-grade Strange Boa probably lost a fight with another cultivator's Flood Dragon.
"You really are something. Losing a fight with your own kind is one thing, but not even being able to win is pathetic," Lu Chen chided, his voice filled with disappointment. He floated down from the platform and hovered near the Strange Boa's belly.
He took out the second-grade healing pill, Sweet Dew Balm, which he had obtained from the Purifying Snow Lotus, from his storage bag. He scooped out a small portion and carefully applied it to the Strange Boa's wound.
"Looks like it's necessary to unite these Flood Dragons and Giant Pythons and get them to stop fighting amongst themselves," Lu Chen muttered as he applied the balm, his eyes narrowing in determination.
