Chapter 117: Expelled?
Chapter 117: Expelled?
The St. Mungo's staff arrived promptly.
Several wizards in healer uniforms, wands in hand, rushed to the second floor, looking flustered and alarmed.
"Merlin... A werewolf, what in the world happened here!" exclaimed an older female witch, clutching her chest in disbelief.
"That's what we'd like to know," Professor Kettleburn stepped forward, his expression grave. "It nearly bit two young wizards just now, right here at St. Mungo's."
"Ha, this is the biggest joke in the wizarding world," he added.
"Sir... we..." A middle-aged wizard wiped the sweat from his forehead, looking flustered. "There must be some misunderstanding. We'll definitely get to the bottom of this."
"Misunderstanding?" Kyle couldn't help but laugh. "Is that your explanation?!"
If it weren't for his quick reaction and the presence of two professors nearby, who knows how this incident would have turned out.
Even if he was lucky enough to escape, what about the boy and the other patients in the surrounding rooms? Could they all get away?
"I'll inform the Ministry of Magic about today's incident," Kyle said coldly. "Let them investigate whether it's a misunderstanding or not."
"The Ministry... this..."
"No need!"
At that moment, a tall, slim woman with a stern expression emerged from behind the crowd. She gave the middle-aged wizard a cold look, and he immediately lowered his head.
"I've already notified the Ministry, and they'll be here soon. Additionally, I'll provide you with an explanation for this matter," she said.
"Who are you...?" Kyle asked, puzzled.
For a moment, he thought it was Professor McGonagall, as their appearances and stern expressions were so similar.
"Allow me to introduce myself. I am Pegasis Sasania," the witch said seriously. "I am also the Headmistress of St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries."
Headmistress Sasania was an efficient witch. After making her decision, she immediately had the barely conscious werewolf taken away by a healer.
Thanks to the werewolf's robust vitality, it was still alive, but barely.
"For some reason, its value is greater alive," Headmistress Sasania explained. "I hope you understand."
Kyle nodded.
With Hagrid and Professor Kettleburn present, he wasn't worried about any underhanded tricks.
"Thank you for your understanding."
...
Three minutes later, the Ministry officials arrived.
Leading them was Cornelius Fudge, the Minister of Magic, followed by a group of Aurors and a witch in a pink coat.
Fudge looked at the large pool of blood on the ground, a hint of panic flashing in his eyes.
"Good heavens... A werewolf that can transform at will... Merlin's beard... How is this possible... I mean, why did this happen?"
"We're still investigating, Mr. Minister," Headmistress Sasania said calmly. "If you'd like, you can join us."
"Very well, I mean, we'll assist."
"Where's the werewolf?"
An Auror approached, looking like an old lion. His tawny hair and thick eyebrows were streaked with gray, and behind his gold-rimmed glasses were sharp eyes.
Headmistress Sasania called for a healer to take him to the room where the werewolf was.
Fudge walked over to Kyle and asked absentmindedly, "Child, how are you doing?"
"I'm fine, thanks to the two professors who were nearby."
Kyle noticed that Fudge's eyes kept glancing around, as if deep in thought.
"Child, is there any chance you misidentified it?" Fudge chose his words carefully, implying something. "Perhaps the attacker was just an Animagus in wolf form, not a werewolf..."
"You want me to lie?" Kyle asked.
"Lie... no, no, no. How could this be a lie?"
Fudge removed his top hat, his eyes gleaming. "You're still young, and you've never seen a werewolf before. Mistaking it is quite normal."
"I didn't misidentify it," Kyle said seriously. "We just learned about werewolves last semester."
"Perhaps you remembered it incorrectly."
Kyle's expression remained unchanged. "I got the top score in the end-of-term exam, and all my subjects were full marks. I couldn't have remembered it wrong."
Fudge tightly gripped the edge of his top hat, his tone turning slightly impatient.
"But everyone knows that werewolves only transform during the full moon, not in the daytime.
If this false information spreads, it will cause panic among many people."
The last sentence was the key point, Kyle thought to himself.
Before he could say anything, the witch in the pink coat behind Fudge stepped forward.
"Young man, I've discovered that you've violated the Ministry of Magic's regulations by using magic outside of school."
Umbridge glanced at Fudge and spoke in a sickeningly sweet voice, "According to the regulations, we have no choice but to punish you."

"I violated the regulations?" Kyle said in disbelief.
"Isn't it obvious?" Umbridge glared at Kyle's wand with ill intent. "Young man, arguing is futile. The Aurors will soon find out which spells you used.
If the number exceeds three... then it's likely you won't be going to Hogwarts this year."
Seeing Kyle's shocked expression, Umbridge felt a surge of satisfaction. She loved this feeling.
Moreover, she was no longer content with her current position. She wanted to climb higher, gain more power, and naturally, she wouldn't pass up any opportunity to curry favor with the Minister.
It was just a young wizard, after all.
If there were things the Minister couldn't handle directly, she was more than willing to take on the task.
Kyle couldn't keep up the act anymore. With a cold face, he said, "You want to expel me?"
"It's the Ministry of Magic's regulation," Umbridge said with a fake smile.
Throughout this, Fudge stood to the side, seemingly more interested in his hat.
Kyle's face grew colder, and he narrowed his eyes. "So, the Ministry of Magic's intention is that I should have just stood there and let the werewolf bite me, right?"
"You could have run away," Umbridge replied with a fake smile. "The stairs were right there. You could have easily run to where there were more people and asked for help. Why did you need to use magic?"
Kyle took a deep breath, tightly gripping his wand, suppressing the urge to cast Avada on her.
Even Gilderoy Lockhart couldn't have written such an absurd plot as racing against a werewolf.
Seeing that Kyle wasn't speaking, Umbridge became even more smug. She cleared her throat and said, "Of course, if you..."
"I didn't arrive late."
Footsteps sounded on the stairs again. Dumbledore didn't even glance at Umbridge as he walked straight up to Kyle. "I was just about to go to France when I received the news and rushed over. Are you injured?"
"No, Headmaster," Kyle smiled. "But this... unknown Ministry passerby claims that I used magic outside of school and wants to expel me."
"Don't worry, Kyle. Only the Headmaster has the authority to expel a student."
Dumbledore spoke gently, "If they insist on this, I will attend the hearing with you.
I recall that in life-threatening situations, even if you haven't graduated, using magic is completely justified. Your actions were entirely appropriate."
"I'll go too," Professor Kettleburn said.
Hagrid: "Me too."
"And me."
Headmistress Sarcia also stepped forward. She looked at Umbridge and said with a hint of mockery, "Miss Passerby, if that werewolf wakes up, would you be willing to race against it to prove your previous claim?
If you can escape without using magic, then Albus has no reason to stop you from expelling this student."
