Chapter 1167: The Commander's Dragon?
Chapter 1167: The Commander's Dragon?
"Normal Summon: Scrap Chimera!"
You Xuan waved his hand, summoning the monster he had just retrieved from the Graveyard, effectively searching it from his Deck.
In the starlight, a metallic vortex pulsed with an eerie blue glow. A deafening mechanical roar echoed as two crimson beams shot out from the center of the vortex, like the eyes of a fierce beast.
Gigantic metal claws gleamed with a dangerous sheen, and a bulky mechanical body was composed of rusted pipes, broken chains, and twisted rebar, occasionally sparking with electricity. The menacing mechanical head resembled a roaring lion, with electric arcs dancing between its metal fangs.
[Scrap Chimera, Attack Power 1700]
"The effect of Scrap Chimera: When this card is successfully summoned, Special Summon one 'Scrap' Tuner from your Graveyard."
You Xuan took the monster card that returned from the Graveyard.
"Tuner: Scrap Cerberus!"
The two-headed dog, which had just been destroyed, returned to the field in the blink of an eye. Its massive metal jaws opened with a deep roar, and the clashing of steel fangs produced transparent sparks.
[Scrap Cerberus, Attack Power 1700]
"Level 4, Tuner: Scrap Beast!
Level 4, Scrap Chimera!
Tuning!"
[4 + 4 = 8]
"The fusion of scrap awakens an indomitable spirit! Synchro Summon! Roar—
—Level 8, Scrap Dragon!"
Rusty metal fragments swirled in the wind, drawn by an invisible force, reassembling in a dazzling synchro halo.
Gears meshed, steam hissed, and the mechanical dragon tore through the red light to arrive. Its body was forged from broken steel, with joints spewing hot sparks, and a single eye blazing with a crimson glow.
The iron dragon let out a long, thunderous roar, its massive wings of scrap metal spreading wide, showering the sky with a rain of screws, as if proclaiming its rebirth from destruction.
Scrap Dragon, summon!
[Scrap Dragon, Attack Power 2800]
"Scrap Dragon!"
Aki's eyes lit up.
It was definitely a rare card, and the presence it exuded was formidable. Aki instinctively thought this might be Gothwin's dragon as a Dragon Marked.
Of course, Aki only thought this to herself. If You Xuan knew, he would probably just laugh, finding her too fixated on the idea of him being a Dragon Marked.
"Scrap Dragon's effect", You Xuan said. "Once per turn, select one card from each player's field, and destroy those cards."
You Xuan snapped his fingers.
"The card I choose from my field is: Scrap Cerberus.
From your field, of course, it's Mina the Centaur.
Destroy both the Cerberus and Mina the Centaur!"
The Scrap Dragon's eye suddenly blazed with crimson light, its mechanical head lifting, and steam burst from the rusted armor seams. With a piercing mechanical roar, the Scrap Dragon swung its tail, the heavy, fragmented sphere slamming into the ground like a meteor, sending a transparent shockwave rippling outward.
Roar!
The mechanical Cerberus emitted an electronic screech, its armor seams sparking with brilliant light. Soon, its body exploded from energy overload, metal fragments raining down like a storm. The energy shockwave blasted into the opposing centaur knight, dissolving her into data fragments that vanished into the air.
Shirley raised her arm to shield herself, frowning. "Destroying both our monsters at once, that Cerberus effect..."
"Not bad, a top-notch Duelist's reflexes are sharp."
You Xuan smiled.
"When Scrap Cerberus is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard by the effect of a 'Scrap' card, you can add one 'Scrap' monster from your Graveyard, except Scrap Cerberus, to your hand."
You Xuan drew a monster card from his Graveyard and briefly showed it to the others.
"I return Scrap Chimera to my hand from the Graveyard."
Aki finally understood. "Right! Scrap Chimera’s effect allows you to Special Summon a Scrap Tuner monster from the Graveyard when it's summoned."
Mizoguchi also caught on. "So even if the current field is somehow cleared by the young miss, you can Normal Summon Scrap Chimera next turn, then Special Summon a Level 4 Tuner from the Graveyard, and immediately perform an eight-star Synchro Summon."
As long as Scrap Chimera was in his hand and there was a Scrap Tuner in the Graveyard, it was essentially the same as Normal Summoning an eight-star Synchro monster.
This turn, he could launch a powerful attack, and at the same time, ensure a strong follow-up next turn.
Impressive.
Mizoguchi admired You Xuan’s strategy in his heart.
Moreover, the tactics he used against her were completely different from those used against him, making him even more impressed.
Mizoguchi glanced worriedly at Shirley.
The young miss.
"Attack, Scrap Dragon, against Apprentice Knight."
A deep rumble emerged from the Scrap Dragon's mechanical chest, and steam spewed from the rusted armor gaps. The steel body rolled over the battlefield, the broken metal wings stirring up a fierce wind, and the massive claws sliced through the air with a screeching sound, easily piercing the knight's armor like paper.
The small knight's sword shattered upon impact, fragments scattering. The knight herself was thrown back by the overwhelming force. Despite the broken sword, she managed to stand firm, her armor unbroken.
[Shirley, LP 4000 → LP 2200]
Shirley stumbled back, clutching her chest, her heart pounding. "This pain..."
She looked up, stunned.
You Xuan chuckled. "Impressive, but Duel damage isn't just a hologram; it's real. That's what true battle is all about."
He paused, then added sarcastically.
"Or is a little pain like this enough to quench your thirst for revenge?"
Shirley's anger flared at his taunting words. "Don't be ridiculous!"
Years of sorrow and pain, from having everything to losing it all in an instant—such suffering couldn't be alleviated by a mere scratch.
"Don't get too cocky!" Shirley said darkly. "The effect of 'Surface Peace' prevents my monsters from being destroyed by battle this turn."
You Xuan shrugged, indifferent to the fact that the battle damage had been dealt.
"I set two cards, and my turn ends."
Shirley: "My turn, Draw!"
Shirley drew a card and carefully scanned the opponent's field.
Three dark, face-down cards in the back row.
One of them was already revealed: Dimension Wall, a Trap that can reflect damage. It was negated by "Mina the Centaur" in the previous turn and then set back.
This meant she had to be cautious about causing high battle damage, especially with her Life Points at only 2200. She needed to be careful with her attacks.
But she had a plan.
"I activate the Magic Card 'Monster Reborn'! Revive a monster from the Graveyard.
Special Summon 'Mina the Centaur'!"
[Mina the Centaur, Attack Power 2200]
"Then I Normal Summon the Tuner monster, 'Floral Synchro'!"
