Sherry huffed. "Then I chain 'Cyclone' with my face-down card, Trap Card 'Surface Peace'!
This turn, neither player's monsters can be destroyed by battle. Additionally, if my monster inflicts battle damage to the opponent, each instance of damage will destroy one of the opponent's magic or trap cards!"
"I see, a card to protect your monsters for defense."
Youxuan then placed a monster card on his Duel Disk.
"This card cannot be Normal Summoned, but it can be Special Summoned if I have a 'Scrap' monster on my field.
"From my hand, I Special Summon Scrap Hellhound!"
Black metal armor covered the creature’s body, with two metallic dog heads mounted on either side of a steel neck. The Scrap Hellhound landed on all fours, its four eyes glowing with dark purple and deep green light, as if piercing through from the depths of the underworld, cold and chilling.

"But there's a cost to this Special Summon", Youxuan said. "When Scrap Hellhound is Special Summoned using this effect, I must destroy one 'Scrap' monster on my field.
I choose to destroy Scrap Hellhound itself."
Shirley and the spectator, Qiu, were both taken aback. "Special Summon using its own effect, only to destroy itself immediately?"
What's the point of such a summon?
At that moment, Youxuan revealed another card from his hand.
"Quick-Play Spell: Scrap Downpour!"

Youxuan showed the monster card automatically retrieved from his Deck and sent it to the Graveyard.
"I send 'Scrap Chimera' from my Deck to the Graveyard, then draw one card."
Youxuan drew a card.
"Then I destroy Scrap Hellhound!"
Scrap Hellhound exploded under the bombardment of the scrap downpour, its body disintegrating as if being swept away by the flood of metal parts.
Shirley finally understood. "Scrap Downpour is a Quick-Play Spell that can chain to Scrap Hellhound's effect. Both cards require the destruction of a 'Scrap' monster as a cost. Since Scrap Hellhound's effect hadn't been resolved when Scrap Downpour was activated, both cards can target the destruction of the same Scrap Hellhound, saving one monster that would otherwise need to be destroyed."
"More than that", Youxuan smiled.
"Scrap Hellhound has another monster effect!
When Scrap Hellhound is destroyed by the effect of a card with 'Scrap' in its name and sent to the Graveyard, I can select one 'Scrap' monster from my Graveyard, other than Scrap Hellhound, and add it to my hand."
The shadow of the destroyed Scrap Hellhound flashed above Youxuan, letting out a roar before a card from the Graveyard was retrieved and added to Youxuan's hand.
"Thus, I return 'Scrap Chimera' to my hand from the Graveyard!"
Shirley's mind raced.
The effect of Scrap Downpour sends a 'Scrap' monster from the Deck to the Graveyard, and then Scrap Hellhound, when destroyed, returns a 'Scrap' monster from the Graveyard to the hand. This effectively allows for a direct search of a 'Scrap' monster from the Deck to the hand.
Moreover, both Scrap Downpour and Scrap Hellhound require the destruction of a 'Scrap' monster as a cost, but by targeting the same Scrap Hellhound for both effects, the cost is saved.
Since Scrap Hellhound was Special Summoned using its own effect, it also saves the Normal Summon for this turn.
