Chapter 1163: Bomb Alert
Chapter 1163: Bomb Alert
A card.
Yes, in this world, it seems quite normal to kill and rob for a card. However, Youxuan knew that this wasn’t because the card itself was some super rare item.
It was just a Magic Card, with the name “Z-One.”
Yes, the same name as the final boss of 5DS, hinting at the card’s origin.
“Back then, when I was fleeing with Young Miss to escape our enemies, we didn’t manage to take much with us. But we did bring the teddy bear that Young Miss loved the most.”
Gokou said with a sigh.
“That teddy bear was the last gift her father gave her before he passed away. Looking back, I think Mr. Lublanc must have already predicted his own fate.”
Gokou let out a long sigh.
“Later, we discovered a card inside that teddy bear. It looked like just another Magic Card, but the effect field was blank, and it couldn’t be used in a Duel. We never knew what it was for.
But over the years, Taichi never gave up on hunting us down. Various assassins kept ambushing us, and it was clear they were after this card.”
“Why go to such lengths just for a card?”
Aki felt a chill run down her spine.
Gokou shook his head, looking disheartened. “At this point, we have no other leads. Just this month, Young Miss and I managed to fend off another group of assassins.
We interrogated them, but they knew nothing. They were just hired to retrieve the card from us, and they had no idea who the client was or why we were being targeted.
We have no other clues, so we thought this card must be more than it seems, hiding information we haven’t discovered yet.
And the Public Safety Bureau has one of the world’s top supercomputers.”
Youxuan smiled. “So you want to infiltrate here and use my supercomputer to analyze that card, right?”
Gokou nodded weakly. “At this point, I don’t want to say much to gain your sympathy. But this is truly important for me and Young Miss.
If you could lend us the supercomputer, I will owe you a debt, and I’ll do anything to repay it.”
Aki, being more empathetic, was moved by his words and turned to Youxuan. “Commander, can you just let them use it for a bit?”
Youxuan didn’t answer immediately, just smiled. “I’m sorry, but even if you use the supercomputer, you might not get the answers you’re looking for.”
Gokou looked at him in surprise.
They didn’t know the truth, but Youxuan was starting to remember.
Years ago, Shirley’s father had entrusted her with this card named “Z-One,” which carried no information or secrets of its own. The card was important because it was a key.
A key to activate the time machine Taichi had created.
Besides this function, the card’s hidden effect was also quite powerful.
In real-world terms, the effect of “Z-One” is that when this card is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard while face-down, you can choose one Continuous Magic or Field Magic Card from your Graveyard to add to your hand.
It must be destroyed and sent to the Graveyard while face-down, and it can only recover Continuous or Field Magic Cards from the Graveyard, not from the Deck. Compared to the original version in the anime, this effect has been significantly nerfed.
In the original version, when “Z-One” is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard while face-up, you can choose one card from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard and remove it from play. This card can then be activated on the field without paying the activation cost and will gain the same name, card type, and effect as the chosen card.
And through this effect, the card summoned to the field cannot be destroyed.
Such an unscientific effect is clearly very anime-styled. Being able to copy any card from the deck and directly "activate" it on the field—if this effect were to be implemented in real cards, it would likely take the Public Safety Bureau thousands of words of adjustments to balance it out.
Leaving that aside, the effect description of "Z-One" doesn't specify the types of cards it can copy, so by default, it should be able to copy any magic, trap, or monster effect. So theoretically, if it were to copy the Light of Creation directly from the deck, wouldn't that mean an instant win for Yu Gi?
Of course, from the extraordinary perspective of the anime, this is probably not practical. The Light of Creation is not just a card; it is a god of the highest rank in the anime, and it cannot be so easily replicated.
Although Z-One's technology is divine, this card named "Z-One" is, after all, just a key. Even as a key, its status as a card isn't that high.
But that doesn't detract from the fact that it is a card with a terrifying ability. With universal search and universal recovery, and the ability to ignore the activation costs of any card, it's highly unlikely that K Corporation would ever print such a card, no matter how much they tried.
With that, Youxuan's tone shifted, and he smiled lightly. "Well, even if you might not get an answer, I'm not saying I can't help you."
Before he finished speaking, there was a sudden snap.
Everyone looked up, and all the lights in the room went out, plunging the area into complete darkness.
At that moment, in the bustling Intelligence Division of the Public Safety Bureau.
Ring ring ring—
The senior student with a scar on his face and rolled-up shirt sleeves, Niu Wei, picked up the phone.
"Yes, this is the Special Intelligence Division."
Since Youxuan took over the Public Safety Bureau, Niu Wei had benefited greatly. He had been promoted several times recently and finally upgraded from a street patrol officer to an office worker, now the leader of the Special Intelligence Division.
But his enjoyment as a leader was short-lived, as he was soon buried in endless busy work. It turned out that office work wasn't as pleasant as he had imagined, and sometimes he even missed the days of chasing down criminal D-wheelers on the streets.
The person on the other end of the phone was in a panic. "Big trouble! Big trouble! Bombs, bombs!"
"Bombs? What are you talking about?"
Niu Wei frowned.
The operator on the other end said, "Someone said they placed bombs in the Public Safety Bureau."
Niu Wei was taken aback. "What are you talking about? It's probably just a prank."
The Public Safety Bureau was heavily guarded, and no abnormalities had been detected, so the natural reaction was to assume it was a prank.
But before he could finish his sentence, the phone line was abruptly cut off, and a cold voice took over.
"Yes, I have placed twelve bombs throughout the Public Safety Bureau."
Niu Wei: "Don't joke around, don't think we won't investigate this prank."
"Is that so?" the voice replied coldly. "Would you like to confirm?"
Boom!!!
A massive explosion shook the entire building, as if an earthquake had struck.
Niu Wei's eyes widened in fear, and he immediately waved his hands and shouted.
"Evacuate! Everyone, evacuate immediately!"
