Chapter 1162: Supercomputer
Chapter 1162: Supercomputer
"Miss, I'm sorry, I—"
Goukou clenched his fists tightly, his body trembling from the strain.
How useless!
He had been prepared to sacrifice himself, had resolved to give everything for his Miss. But now—
It’s all because I’m too weak.
Goukou punched the ground, his lips pressed tightly together.
Rex Godwin, it seems his intel was still lagging. In their previous investigations of the Law Enforcement Bureau, they hadn’t taken Godwin seriously. They never imagined he would be so powerful!
By combining the Heavenly Sanctuary and the Fount of Elements, he managed to open up a massive health gap in a single turn. At first, Goukou thought it was some kind of defensive strategy, but he soon realized how naive he had been.
One turn, three Saturns, three consecutive health bursts—tell me, are you scared yet?
Who could withstand that?
Equally shaken was Shizukanae Akatsuki.
Yes, Shizukanae Akatsuki hadn’t left either. Youxuan had mentioned there were intruders in the Law Enforcement Bureau, and after a moment’s hesitation, Akatsuki followed him to this underground location.
Though Akatsuki hadn’t joined the battle or spoken a word, she had observed the duel from a distance.
Then she saw Godwin pull out a deck she had never seen before, employing a series of angelic tactics that she couldn’t quite call either clever or devious. He effortlessly wiped out his opponent.
This once again brought up a question that had been nagging at her.
Just how many decks does Rex Godwin have?
From what she knew, top duelists in the dueling world generally had only one signature deck, which they rarely changed. Of course, there were a few who could switch between multiple decks, but having three to five decks to handle different situations and opponents was already considered a lot.
But Akatsuki had a hunch that Godwin had far more than just a few decks.
Perhaps she hadn’t even seen his true deck yet. Both times he had defeated her, he had used different decks. Even when facing the terrifying Terrabound Deity, a creature that struck fear into the hearts of Dragon Sealbearers, he never seemed tense. It was as if he was just playing around.
Even in the face of such a formidable opponent, even in a Darkness Duel where the Sealbearers were fighting for their lives, he had approached the battle with a casual demeanor.
Akatsuki could hardly imagine what kind of strength and confidence it took to remain so relaxed and composed at all times.
"You lost."
Youxuan stepped forward.
"Tell me, what are you doing here? Where’s your Miss? Hiding somewhere, are you?"
Based on his experience, Youxuan believed that Goukou was unlikely to have infiltrated alone. He was almost always by his Miss Shirley’s side, no matter where they went.
So Youxuan suspected that Shirley was nearby. However, he hadn’t detected any other intruders, so he assumed she was still waiting in the outer area.
Their plan might have been for Goukou to create a distraction or set up something to facilitate their escape, while Shirley sneaked into the Law Enforcement Bureau to accomplish their mission. Now that Goukou was pinned down by Youxuan, Shirley was likely still waiting nearby, ready to act.
Of course, this was just a guess, but it wouldn’t be hard to confirm.
Goukou gritted his teeth. "You think I’ll spill—"
He hadn’t finished speaking when his tone abruptly shifted, and his mouth, seemingly of its own accord, blurted out, "The young mistress is waiting at the café across the street. She will act as soon as I give the signal according to the plan."
As soon as the words escaped his lips, Goukou clamped his hand over his mouth, his pupils contracting in terror.
"What have you done to me!?"
Goukou instinctively backed away from Youxuan.
The loyal, sturdy man was profoundly shaken, feeling as though the person before him was a demon incarnate.
He hadn’t wanted to say that!
How could this person force him to reveal things he shouldn’t? How was it even possible?
Goukou tried to close his eyes, to turn his head away, but the man’s gaze seemed to have a magnetic power, an invisible force that held Goukou’s eyes, making it impossible for him to look away.
"Stop struggling, look into my eyes."
Youxuan chuckled softly.
"You lost the duel to me, so as your forfeit, you must fulfill my demands.
In fact, if I wanted your life or even your soul, it wouldn’t matter. But don’t worry, I don’t need those. I just need you to answer a few simple questions. It’s that easy."
Youxuan propped his chin in his hand and paused.
"Ah, where were we? Right, Shirley is waiting for you to create an opportunity, and you want to break into the Law Enforcement Bureau. My question is, why?
Isn’t your enemy Taichi? This place isn’t Taichi’s headquarters or any significant stronghold."
Goukou’s shock deepened upon hearing this.
The young mistress’s family had been wiped out by Taichi, and it was only thanks to Goukou’s desperate efforts that she had survived. Over the years, they had wandered far and wide, all to uncover the truth about Taichi and avenge the past.
But they had never told anyone about these plans!
The Lublanc Family no longer existed, and Shirley was the last of their bloodline. The massacre had been suppressed by Taichi’s forces, leaving no trace. How had this Godwin uncovered these secrets?
"Don’t be so surprised. I am the director of the Law Enforcement Bureau. Maintaining the city’s security requires me to have a constant grasp on all the information in the city."
Goukou, still uncertain and wary, remained silent.
"If you’re only here for information on Taichi, you might be disappointed."
Youxuan shook his head.
"There’s nothing valuable in the Law Enforcement Bureau. To be honest, if there were, I’d want it too."
It felt like a group of burglars breaking into his home at midnight, rummaging through everything. As the owner, Youxuan found it quite amusing.
Forget it, stop searching. My place is dirt poor; you won’t find a single coin even during the daytime, let alone in the dark. What do you think you’ll find?
Goukou’s expression twisted in struggle, as if fighting the urge to reveal his secrets. But in the end, he couldn’t resist the compulsion from Darkness Yu Gi and reluctantly spoke, "No, we know the Law Enforcement Bureau likely doesn’t have the information itself.
But it houses a supercomputer of the highest caliber in the world, and we need its power."
"Oh?" Youxuan asked, "Tell me more. What do you need this computer for?"
Goukou, resigned, said, "To analyze a card."
He realized that struggling was futile; he had no choice but to speak.
"We suspect that the young mistress’s family was destroyed because of this card."
