Chapter 1157: The Netherworld
“Zzzt. Zzzt zzzt.”
The Executor swayed as he stood, the red light in his eyes flickering on and off.
At this moment, half of his body's casing had been blown off, exposing charred wires and damaged parts.
“So, you are a robot, after all.” Youxuan said calmly.
But this was not surprising. The Three Emperors at the peak of the Taichi Organization were all robots, so it made sense that the Executor, a high-ranking member, would be one too.
However, this robot seemed to possess an extraordinary resilience. Despite being half-destroyed and likely with critical internal circuits damaged, he still stood stubbornly, as if refusing to fall.
He swayed and took a difficult step forward.
“It shouldn’t be this way.”
The Executor let out a pained sound.
“I am the Executor of Taichi, fighting for the will of the gods. I will not, cannot... for the future of humanity.”
He raised his head and roared in defiance.
“Hope... Aaahhh!!”
With that, he finally collapsed to his knees, the light in his eyes extinguishing completely.
He was dead.
Or perhaps, the term "dead" wasn't quite accurate for a robot. More precisely, he had ceased to function.
At this moment, Clark, who had been lying on the ground convulsing, regained some strength and stood up, raising his eyes to look at Youxuan with a mixture of fear and awe.
He no longer had any trace of the contempt he once felt. This man—no, this Officer Godwin—had taken down the Executor of Taichi!
Even though Clark was just a low-ranking member of the organization, he knew that the Executor was responsible for eliminating traitors and obstacles, essentially the organization's enforcer. This was clearly a combat-oriented officer, and his strength was undoubtedly formidable.
Clark had never seen the Executor in action, but he had heard stories of the Executor eliminating numerous powerful figures from different times.
Yet, such a powerful opponent had been defeated so easily. He had witnessed the entire duel, and he felt a sense of frustration on behalf of the Executor.
A series of Scrap Traps, combined with the support from the Royal Temple, made it impossible to attack or destroy. In the end, even monster summoning was restricted.
And at the height of this frustration, the final blow from the Bicycle Destruction was the coup de grâce. For a moment, Clark almost believed that the Executor's body had exploded not from the real damage of the duel, but from sheer anger.
Now, the terrifying white-haired demon who had just dispatched the Executor stood before him.
Youxuan’s expression was cold. “Lead the way.”
Clark hesitated for only two seconds.
“Sure thing.”
He agreed without further delay.
He knew there was no room for negotiation. Not only had Youxuan defeated him using Darkness Yu-Gi, but even if he were free, he had no other choice.
The Executor had been taken down so easily, and he had no doubt that he would meet the same fate if he resisted.
Though betraying the organization meant certain execution...
He didn’t care anymore. If he didn’t betray the organization, he would be executed anyway.
Moreover, Taichi’s influence was vast, and his spies were everywhere. The Executor’s appearance was a clear sign that the organization already knew about his leak of information. So, he had no choice but to take a desperate risk and try to save his life for now.
Just one minute later, Youxuan followed Clark to the heart of the Perpetual Express.
Before them stood the awe-inspiring dream machine.
It had the appearance of a perpetual motion device, yet it was different in many ways. Countless fine prisms were arranged closely together, each one crystal clear and reflecting a spectrum of colors under the dim light, like a rainbow woven into a flowing tapestry.
Above the dazzling base, a circle of brilliant light rings around, like a galaxy in the universe, emitting a gentle glow that slowly revolves around the machine.
This is the time machine, the facility used to travel through time and rewrite history.
"Here lies the entrance to rewriting history", Clark said as he approached the control panel and operated it.
"I’ve already entered the password to unlock the control panel for you. This main computer stores all the secrets of the Perpetual Express related to the Taichi Organization. If there’s anything not here, I’m afraid I can’t help you."
Youxuan stepped forward, unlocked the computer, and began to browse it briefly.
Clark continued, "As you said, we can indeed receive direct orders from the Three Emperors here, but most of the time, they are the ones who issue orders, and we rarely have the ability to call them ourselves. I just tried to establish a connection, but there was no response; no one answered."
Clark cautiously observed Youxuan’s expression.
He knew that "Godwin" had come to contact the Three Emperors, but he was just a lowly subordinate, and if the emperors ignored him, there was nothing he could do.
He was afraid that this white-haired demon might send him to join the Executor in the afterlife if he wasn’t satisfied.
Fortunately, Youxuan didn’t push him further, just uttering a single word: "Alright."
Youxuan browsed the main computer and soon found an interesting entry.
A record, a record of the timeline. The note on the timeline read "Last Accessed."
Youxuan’s heart skipped a beat.
Last accessed? Is this the record of the most recent timeline visited by this time machine?
He opened the file and took a look.
To his surprise, even Youxuan, who was familiar with the plot of the anime and had seen much after crossing over, was taken aback.
The first thing that caught his eye was the startling label at the top.
[Subject: Yusei Fudou.
Status: Deceased.]
Yusei is dead?
What is this? A different possibility from another timeline?
Youxuan continued to scroll down.
The record was quite brief, not detailing the specific events but only roughly summarizing what had happened in this timeline.
Just like the original history, the battle between the Red Dragon and the King of the Underworld broke out, the Dark Signers awoke and challenged the Dragon Signers.
Yusei Fudou led the Dragon Signers into battle against the Dark Signers. But at a critical moment, the Dark Signers seemed to receive some unknown power from beyond this dimension, greatly enhancing their strength.
Despite the Dragon Signers’ best efforts, they were ultimately defeated.
That day, the gates of the Underworld were opened, and Darkness descended upon the world. The Law of the Netherworld overturned the existing world, the dead ruled the living, the Red Dragon fell, and all things came to an end.
Youxuan couldn’t help but frown and turned to look at Clark. "What is this?"
But Clark didn’t dare to look at the screen in front of him, only shaking his head repeatedly. "I don’t know, I don’t know anything."
Though he held the key to open this place, he had no authority to access the information stored here. He also knew that the more he knew, the more trouble he could get into, so he tried to avoid looking whenever possible.
Seeing his reaction, Youxuan didn’t press him further and continued to look at the screen.
But before he could continue, the screen flickered and then went to static, as if the signal had been lost.
In the next moment, the entire building began to shake.
