Chapter 1154: Labyrinth Exploration, "Tina's Obsession Crystals"
Chapter 1154: Labyrinth Exploration, "Tina's Obsession Crystals"
Su Yu had a fair bit of experience when it came to navigating labyrinth dungeons.
The worst thing you could do in a labyrinth was to wander around aimlessly.
The walls inside the labyrinth were almost identical, and aimless wandering could easily lead to misjudging directions, causing you to become completely lost.
Actually, getting through a labyrinth dungeon was quite simple.
After entering the labyrinth, Su Yu took out a notebook and pen from his backpack and began recording his path.
He moved forward at a steady pace of 0.6 meters per step, marking down the distance and the location of each fork he encountered.
Every time he turned a corner, he rotated the paper 90 degrees.
This method ensured he wouldn't lose his way, making it easy to navigate the labyrinth.
...
While the labyrinth itself was straightforward, this was a main storyline dungeon, so it contained various other elements.
Just as he reached the second fork, Su Yu encountered four monsters.
Two of them were giant snakes.
Forest Python (Level 27)
- Health: 2220
- Attack: 75
- Skills:
- Toxic Bite: Bites the target, dealing 240% of the attack damage and stacking one layer of Toxic, refreshing the duration of Toxic on the target.
- Toxic: Deals 35 poison damage per second for 4 seconds. Can stack up to 10 times.
- Serpent's Agility (Passive): Has a 15% chance to dodge single-target attacks and spells.
Note: Tina was not afraid of snakes as a child until she was bitten by a venomous snake in the forest.
The other two were large spiders.
Wall Spider (Level 27)
- Health: 1955
- Attack: 86
- Skills:
- Binding Web: Spits out a web at the target, dealing 150% of the attack damage and binding the target for 3 seconds.
- Venomous Sting: Leaps at the target and stings, dealing 120% to 600% of the attack damage. The lower the target's health, the higher the damage. Also causes Poison, dealing 35 poison damage per second for 4 seconds.
- Spider's Agility (Passive): Has a 15% chance to dodge single-target attacks and spells.
Note: Tina used to keep spiders as pets when she was young, but after adopting a cute stray cat, she abandoned the spiders.
These four monsters were of the common variety and posed no challenge to Su Yu.
Su Yu used the Summon Rock Elemental skill, and a massive rock elemental, made entirely of granite and standing over three meters tall, appeared beside him.
Under his control, the rock elemental extended its huge stone fist and lunged at the four monsters.
The spiders and pythons clearly noticed the rock elemental, the intruder, and launched their attacks.
The pythons' jaws and the spiders' venomous stingers struck the rock elemental, chipping off large pieces of stone.
Su Yu was quick to act. Once the rock elemental used Mass Taunt to control the monsters, he cast Rain of Fire and Chain Lightning without hesitation.
Su Yu's spells were powerful, and the skill damage bonuses were extremely high. With just two spells, the health of the four monsters quickly dropped to zero, turning them into experience points and drops.
Su Yu approached to check the drops from the monsters.
In addition to basic drops like equipment and Psychic Coins, the four monsters also dropped four items called Tina's Obsession Crystals.
Tina's Obsession Crystal (Consumable)
- Effect: Using this on the boss Tina's Obsession will reduce all of its attributes by 1% and increase the score gained from killing the boss by 5%. Can stack, lasts for 2 minutes.
Seeing this item, Su Yu immediately understood: "It seems that clearing the labyrinth is just part of the task. The more you explore within the labyrinth and the more monsters you kill, the higher the rewards you will get in the end."
Realizing this, Su Yu began to take action. He collected the drops from the four monsters, put on the double-speed leather armor, and started exploring the labyrinth in full.
The labyrinth was home to two types of minor monsters: spiders and giant pythons. Occasionally, there were also poison and fire traps on the ground and walls. However, these were only minor nuisances to Su Yu.
The real threat came from a creature called the Spectral Cat.
Spectral Cat (Level 63)
- Health:???
- Attack Power:???
- Skills:
- Spectral Pounce: The Spectral Cat pounces on the target, dealing 100% of the target's maximum health as true damage, ignoring shields and damage reduction.
- Ethereal Form (Passive): In a spectral state, it can easily pass through the labyrinth's walls.
- Silent Movement (Passive): Moves and attacks without making any sound.
Note: This was a stray cat that Tina had adopted as a child. It died from a malignant disease and is one of the sources of Tina's dark obsession.
...
The Spectral Cat moved silently, striking and retreating quickly, making it difficult to detect. For Su Yu, if the Spectral Cat appeared in front of him, he could still use Blink or Ice Barrier to dodge its attacks. However, if it appeared behind him or in a blind spot, it was nearly impossible to avoid. He could only rely on the remaining uses of his Labyrinth Talisman to block the damage.
Over the next 50 minutes, Su Yu remained vigilant for any signs of the Spectral Cat while efficiently clearing the labyrinth, killing monsters, and collecting Obsession Crystals. He also searched for the labyrinth's exit.
Finally, after 42 minutes, Su Yu successfully explored 100% of the labyrinth, defeated the mini-bosses Queen Spider Elise and Coiling Serpent Cassiopeia, and reached the exit.
By then, his Labyrinth Talisman had only two uses left, and he had collected 40 Tina's Obsession Crystals!
Stepping out of the labyrinth, Su Yu let out a long sigh of relief. The dark, cramped environment had been disorienting, nearly giving him claustrophobia. Now, standing in the vast, open field, he felt a refreshing clarity.
However, the labyrinth instance wasn't over yet.
About 100 meters from the exit stood a 30-meter-tall metallic golem. This must be the final boss of the labyrinth instance.
The golem's upper body was red with a large "Thunder" symbol, its abdomen green with a massive "Wind" symbol, and its lower body blue with a large "Water" symbol. It looked like it was assembled from three different constructs.
Guardian of the Gate (Level 27 - Excellent)
- Health: 25,500
- Attack Power: 378
- Skills:
- Thunder Dragon Strike
- Wind Dragon Sweep
- Water Dragon Roar
Note: A large construct assembled from the Thunder God Sangja (Thunder Emperor), Wind God Shuja (Wind Sovereign), and Water God Sija (Water Sage), possessing immense power.
...
Seeing this boss, Su Yu couldn't help but think, "It seems that players who want to complete the main storyline must have the ability to solo bosses of the same level. Most players, even if they receive the main quest, won't be able to complete it."
Despite his thoughts, Su Yu switched to his full set of cloth armor and began casting, preparing to Concentrate a 20x powered Lightning Strike to take down the boss in one hit.
However, before he could cast, he noticed the Rock Elemental standing beside him. Looking at its massive form, a new idea suddenly popped into his head: "Why not try something different?"
