Chapter 115: Watching the Little Sister Eat
Chapter 115: Watching the Little Sister Eat
Upon returning to the main courtyard, the Princess of Qi learned that SuSu was awake.
The little girl didn't have morning crankiness; her previous living environment ensured she couldn't afford such a luxury.
Thus, she promptly went to the washroom after waking up and obediently sat by her bed, awaiting her mother.
Hearing that her daughter was patiently waiting, the Princess of Qi's heart melted even before laying eyes on SuSu.
She quickened her steps and soon entered the room.
SuSu had been sitting there, listening to Nuan Dong's chatter.
Hearing footsteps, she abruptly lifted her head and, upon recognizing her mother, happily jumped off the bed and rushed over: "Mother!"
At that moment, SuSu resembled a cheerful, lively little bird, suddenly pouncing forward.
Her small, frail frame tugged at one's heartstrings.
Yet, her bright and dazzling smile healed hearts just as well.
The Princess of Qi casually picked up SuSu, cradling her and gently weighing her: "You need to eat more. Why aren't you gaining any weight?"
Along the journey, Doctor Liu had taken good care of the child.
However, the bumpy ride likely prevented SuSu from gaining much weight.
Having only arrived at the mansion two days ago, it was normal for there to be no noticeable changes yet.
But the Princess of Qi was anxious.
She desperately wished she could transfer some of Xiao Qi's excess fat to SuSu, making her look a little sturdier.
SuSu hadn't seen anyone when she first woke up, but now that she had laid eyes on her mother, she clung to her affectionately, nestling into the Princess of Qi's neck and gently wrapping her tiny arms around her neck.
Her small body was almost entirely enveloped in the Princess of Qi's embrace.
Sensing SuSu's dependence, the Princess of Qi's hold on her daughter tightened slightly, fearful of dropping the little girl.
Feeling her mother's strength, SuSu's voice was soft and slightly muffled as she replied: "SuSu will gain weight and become strong like Gege (older brother)."
Hearing this, the Princess of Qi nodded with a smile: "Yes, you will. SuSu will grow strong and sturdy like Gege. Are you hungry?"
SuSu had fallen asleep before lunch and must be hungry now.
Indeed, she was.
When her mother asked, SuSu obediently nodded: "A little."
Her soft voice tugged at the Princess of Qi's heartstrings once more.
Feng Xuanrui and the others had already finished eating. The Princess of Qi didn't make them wait, and after the children tidied up, they would take a nap before heading to the manor for their horsemanship lesson.
As the Princess of Qi entered the room carrying SuSu, Feng Xuanrui and his brothers were preparing to leave.
Seeing their little sister, the young boys' eyes widened to varying degrees.
Feng Xuanrui was the quickest to react. He rushed forward, reaching out to take his sister, but the Princess of Qi stopped him: "Be gentle; your sister might get hurt."
Feng Xuanrui obediently heeded the instruction, but his outstretched hand didn't retreat; he merely lessened the force.
Seeing his persistence, SuSu also reached out, and the Princess of Qi's heart felt a mix of sourness and helplessness.
Finally, she had no choice but to hand SuSu over.
Feng Xuanrui happily hugged his little sister.
However, having not practiced strength training for over a month, he couldn't hold her for long.
Moreover, being only half-grown himself, he wasn't very skilled at holding infants.
Even with Doctor Liu's guidance, Feng Xuanrui's hold was still awkward and lopsided.
Literally, lopsided.
The Princess of Qi felt that Feng Xuanliu wasn't holding a baby but a stick, and he wasn't holding it straight either.
SuSu didn't complain, so the Princess of Qi didn't interfere, merely reminding them: "SuSu still needs to eat."
Feng Xuanrui and the others had already finished and left.
Chapter 115: Watching Over the Little Sister
"Let's prepare new meals for Princess Qi and SuSu."
Upon hearing this, Feng Xuanrui hurriedly pulled SuSu's hand, leading her back to the dining table.
Feng Xuanbin squeezed his way from behind, trying so hard to reach for SuSu's hand, but to no avail. Now frustrated, he forcefully wedged his head forward, exclaiming, "I want to feed my sister too! I can do it!"
Without an ounce of mercy, Feng Xuanbo pushed back the head that had squeezed its way in.
Feng Xuanbin wailed in protest, "Ahhh! Fifth brother, let go of me! Let me through!"
Feng Xuanbin's wriggling head was no match for Feng Xuanbo, and he was ultimately pushed back.
Though Feng Xuanbo appeared slender, his arms revealed a sense of powerful strength. Even through his sleeves, the muscular contours of his arms were clearly visible.
So, with just one hand, he easily pushed Feng Xuanbin back.
The little fatty was displeased, his head twisting and his body squirming as he flailed about.
Yet, after all that commotion, he still ended up being pushed out of the circle by Feng Xuancang, leaving him thoroughly disgruntled.
"Ah, you guys are too much!" Feng Xuanbin exclaimed, feeling wronged.
Watching the comical display, SuSu couldn't help but burst out laughing, her little body resting on her brother's shoulder.
Feng Xuanbin had been upset, but seeing his sister's laughter, he couldn't help but reveal a mouthful of little white teeth, grinning widely as he joined in, "Hehehe!"
However, he himself didn't know what exactly he was laughing about.
Having finished their meals, the brothers didn't leave right away. Instead, they sat back down, forming a circle around SuSu to watch her eat.
They all wanted a turn at feeding her, but with only one SuSu and five brothers, it was simply impossible to satisfy everyone.
If only SuSu had four more mouths, then perhaps she could keep up with her brothers' demands!
The outcome of their dispute was to let SuSu feed herself.
Feng Xuanrui was quite dissatisfied with this result, angrily shooting a glance at Feng Xuanbo, feeling that the fifth brother was being too calculative. He decided that from then on, he would no longer be friends with him!
But then, he remembered that by the end of the month, his first and second brothers would be returning from the academy.
The second brother was simple-minded and brutish, so he wasn't much of a threat.
However, the first brother...
Feng Xuanrui felt both reverence and fear toward this brother who shared the same mother as him.
In any case...
He knew he wouldn't be able to compete with his first brother.
So, by then, there would surely be one more person vying to take care of their sister.
As Feng Xuanrui sat there, watching SuSu eat, he couldn't help but think to himself, "Maybe I should just stab the remaining brothers now and get it over with?"
However, they were still his blood brothers, and he just couldn't bring himself to do it, no matter how much he wanted to.
Ah, the troubles of having too many brothers!
The first dish prepared for SuSu was meat congee with egg.
Soft, tender, and easy to digest, it was also highly nutritious.
Considering SuSu's current digestive capabilities, this was an excellent choice for her meal.
That's why Aunt Qing had prepared this dish for her.
SuSu loved it too, and she was just taking a big mouthful of it.
Noticing Feng Xuanrui's gaze on her as she ate, she asked softly, a hint of confusion in her voice, "What's wrong, brother?"
Not wanting to disturb SuSu's meal, Feng Xuanrui simply shook his head, "Just thinking about this afternoon's lessons."
The afternoon lessons usually focused on physical education and horsemanship.
Most of the time, they trained the young masters' physiques.
SuSu actually enjoyed these lessons.
Hearing her brother mention it, she immediately looked more spirited, "I know, I know! I saw it yesterday! Brother, you're the best at it!"
As soon as she said that, four pairs of scorching, slightly resentful eyes landed on her.
SuSu: ?
Feng Xuan'er: ?
Unfair treatment?
