Chapter 115: Lucius Malfoy!
Chapter 115: Lucius Malfoy! (First Update, Seeking Subscriptions)
But where did George and Fred acquire the relevant knowledge?
Could it be from the Restricted Section at Hogwarts?
Ivan thought it was very likely. The Restricted Section had an extensive collection of books, and he had only managed to browse through a fraction of them in one school year.
It was quite normal for there to be books about Ancient Runes, given that the section even contained knowledge about Horcruxes.
However, he hadn't been wasting his time these past few days. He had managed to create some ordinary Magic Items, and with the additions from Aisia, a quarter of the shop's shelves were now stocked with goods.
The Hals' Curious Magic Item Shop had also reopened.
This life continued until the morning of the second week, when Ivan, who was quietly practicing Runic Script at the counter, heard the tinkling of the doorbell.
His expression changed, and he put down the Carving Knife. The Ministry of Magic's people wouldn't arrive for another half a month, so it seemed a customer had arrived.
"Welcome to Hals' Curious Magic Item Shop. Is there anything you need?" Ivan looked up and said.
Then, Ivan was momentarily stunned. The person who had entered was wearing black robes, had pale blonde hair, and a face that was pale and somewhat frightening. After entering, he heavily planted his snake-headed cane on the ground, producing a dull thud.
Lucius Malfoy!
Ivan narrowed his eyes, confirming the identity of the visitor and guessing his intentions.
Was it trouble from the Wizard Market?
No, based on the information Douglas had given him, the Malfoy Family was not a shareholder in the Wizard Market.
So it could only be...
While Ivan was thinking, he heard the visitor speak.
"Is Mrs. Hals not in the shop?"
Lucius Malfoy's cold gray eyes swept through the store, noticing that it had changed since his last visit.
Most of the store was empty, with only a few Magic Items remaining.
"Yes", Ivan replied with a single word, then continued.
"But I am the acting shopkeeper now, Mr. Malfoy. If you have any business, you can talk to me."
"Listen, boy, I have a big deal to discuss. Go fetch your mother", Lucius Malfoy said impatiently, having no interest in wasting time with a child.
"Is Mr. Malfoy planning to sell some Dark Magic Items?" Ivan asked directly.
Lucius was slightly taken aback, hesitated for a moment, and then nodded.
"My mother would definitely not agree. Mr. Malfoy should be aware of the recent actions by the Ministry of Magic. Therefore, we are not currently interested in purchasing large quantities of Dark Magic Items", Ivan refused.
"Ministry of Magic officials generally don't bother to search Knockturn Alley, do they?" Seeing Ivan's well-reasoned response, Lucius put aside his initial disdain and asked.
"It seems Mr. Malfoy isn't fully aware of what's happening in Knockturn Alley", Ivan shook his head.
Lucius remained silent. He had been busy dealing with the family's contraband items, which had left him in a state of distress, and he hadn't had the time to pay attention to events in Knockturn Alley.
Ivan didn't elaborate much, only mentioning that the Ministry of Magic might also investigate Knockturn Alley, which was why the shop had removed inappropriate items.
Lucius's expression was grim. If what Ivan said was true, it would indeed be troublesome.
In the three dark magic shops of Knockturn Alley, he had already visited the one run by the Goblin, who outright refused to help him deal with his Dark Magic Items.
The owner of Borgin and Burkes was difficult to deal with, and Lucius suspected that the other party might take advantage of the situation to lower the price.
So he had come here first to try. If it didn't work out, he would go to the other place, but he didn't expect to learn from Ivan that the Ministry of Magic would be patrolling Knockturn Alley.
Lucius wasn't aware that the Ministry of Magic would only inspect this one dark magic shop, and he thought that Fudge was planning a cleanup of Knockturn Alley.
With this in mind, Lucius prepared to leave, intending to find other old friends to see if they could help.
"Wait a moment, Mr. Malfoy." Ivan's gaze lingered slightly on the diary in Lucius's left hand.
"What is it?" Lucius Malfoy stopped in his tracks.
"Although we can't buy a large quantity of your items, a few more in stock shouldn't be a problem." Ivan no longer maintained his previous calm demeanor but instead adopted a cheerful tone.
"Especially if there are any novel and interesting magic items."
Lucius inwardly shook his head. He had previously thought this young Wizard was quite mature and wished that Draco could be more like him.
He didn't expect that the boy would still have a childlike nature, revealing it after just a few words.
Lucius was about to refuse, as he needed to sell in bulk and didn't have the time to sell items one by one.
But thinking of the book in his hand, Lucius hesitated, suddenly realizing it might be a good opportunity to deal with the trouble.
"What do you think of this?" Lucius turned around and placed the diary he was holding in his left hand on the table.
Ivan carefully examined it.
It didn't look very thick, and the date printed in ink on the cover had faded, indicating that it had been stored for a long time. Apart from that, there was nothing else noteworthy.
However, Ivan knew that this was Tom Marvolo Riddle's Horcrux diary, the first Horcrux of Voldemort.
If he did nothing, this Horcrux diary would possess Ginny Weasley next semester, release the Basilisk from the Chamber of Secrets, and wreak havoc at Hogwarts until the savior, Harry Potter, dealt with it!
The experiences from the previous semester clearly told Ivan that with his involvement, many things had changed.
So Ivan didn't think that things would unfold as coincidentally as in the original timeline, where a large Basilisk failed to kill any students despite several attacks at the school.
If Hogwarts lost a few students, it would immediately be shut down for reorganization. Moreover, he would be at the school, and he too could encounter the Basilisk.
Now that he had this opportunity, Ivan naturally wanted to resolve the Horcrux problem once and for all. He just needed to learn Fiendfyre to do so.
Moreover, Ivan recalled the incomplete copy of Origin of Bloodlines in his possession. He had some questions that needed answers from someone who knew.
At Hogwarts, Ivan had considered approaching another of Voldemort's Horcruxes, Ravenclaw's Diadem, but ultimately decided against it.
When Voldemort created the diadem, he was already extremely powerful. Unless it was destroyed immediately upon acquisition or handed over to Dumbledore, carrying it around could still pose a risk of being controlled, even for him.
The diary, however, was different. It contained the memories and power of Voldemort from his fifth year, making it the most suitable Horcrux to approach.
