Chapter 1144: Subjugation
Chapter 1144: Subjugation
October 8th, 2017
Pingzhou, Beifeng, within the Sky Prison!
Cheng Yaojin and the two others stared at Lu Hai Kong, their faces filled with confusion.
None of them had expected Lu Hai Kong to pull such a stunt, directly employing the strategy of 'Two Pears to Eliminate Three Heroes' on them.
Before they could even respond, Lu Hai Kong turned and left without giving them a moment to react.
"You don't need to answer this question in a hurry. You still have at least a month to consider it slowly!"
Lu Hai Kong walked away, not granting them any time to react.
As soon as Lu Hai Kong left, prison guards entered and took Wei Chi Gong and Qin Shu Bao away.
"Where are you taking them?" Cheng Yaojin exclaimed in shock at the sight.
"By the Lord's command, from now on, you three must be kept separately, until one of you gives up and surrenders!"
After the guard's indifferent reply, they took Wei Chi Gong and Qin Shu Bao away, leaving Cheng Yaojin alone.
In reality, Wei Chi Gong and Qin Shu Bao were not taken far away. They were placed in nearby cells, but the Sky Prison was a legendary structure. Within its confines, although Cheng Yaojin and the other two were in adjacent cells, they couldn't see or hear each other. The three of them were completely isolated.
In a place out of their sight, Lu Hai Kong, who should have already left the Sky Prison, was watching over the three of them.
In truth, how could Lu Hai Kong have left the Sky Prison? He had come here today with the sole purpose of subjugating them. Without a satisfactory outcome, how could he possibly leave so directly?
There was a reason behind Lu Hai Kong's actions.
As time passed, even though the 'Foreign Invasion' had ended, Lu Hai Kong's understanding of the foreign lands continued to grow. However, this increasing knowledge did not necessarily lead to a clearer understanding of the foreign demons.
Up to this day, Cheng Yaojin and his companions had always held back information from Lu Hai Kong, and it was quite a substantial amount. This secrecy naturally made Lu Hai Kong cautious.
Lu Hai Kong's current situation was akin to wanting to eat a hot potato but also being wary of getting burned by it. Hence, he devised this strategy.
Lu Hai Kong had to admit that his plan wasn't particularly clever, but it was highly effective.
Under the threat of death, they would face an ultimate test—whether they valued their own lives more or the lives of their sworn brothers. Their choices and struggles in the face of life and death would reveal their true character.
Apart from testing the three of them, Lu Hai Kong's primary goal was to divide them. He would never allow them to remain a united front after they started serving him. These three were too powerful, and if they remained a cohesive unit, any issues that arose would require a tremendous effort from Lu Hai Kong to handle. Therefore, he had to divide them.
Only by breaking them down into individuals, even to the point of mutual suspicion and animosity, could Lu Hai Kong feel secure in utilizing their strengths.
Lu Hai Kong had always been protective of his subordinates, but in the case of these three, due to their unique origins and backgrounds, he had no choice but to employ some underhanded tactics.
Meanwhile, after Lu Hai Kong's departure and their separation, the three men exhibited different reactions.
Wei Chi Gong and Qin Shu Bao were anxious, an unusual level of anxiety. It was clear that the two were in a dilemma, torn between their own lives and the lives of their brothers. This choice was truly difficult for them.
In contrast, Cheng Yaojin on the other side seemed much calmer.
Ever since Wei Chi Gong and Qin Shu Bao were taken away, Cheng Yaojin had been deep in thought. His rough exterior belied a contemplative state, surprisingly without any sense of dissonance.
Cheng Yaojin was the epitome of rough on the outside, refined within. On many occasions, he saw through things better than anyone else, and this time was no exception.
While Wei Chi Gong and Qin Shu Bao were hesitating, contemplating whether to make a sacrifice, Cheng Yaojin had already discerned Lu HaiKong's true intentions, and he had indeed figured out the underlying truth.
After Cheng Yaojin's sudden realization, he became completely calm, sitting quietly without any signs of unease or anxiety.
Seeing Cheng Yaojin's demeanor, Lu HaiKong was momentarily startled but quickly understood. He then shifted his attention from Cheng Yaojin to focus on Qin Shu Bao and Wei Chi Gong.
Wei Chi Gong and Qin Shu Bao were still anxious, but there was now a noticeable difference between them. Wei Chi Gong remained as anxious as ever, while Qin Shu Bao seemed to have made a decision.
Observing the two, Lu HaiKong decided to stop watching and get to work. He had learned what he needed to know, and it was time to take action.
In the 1619 version of the book, as Qin Shu Bao called out for the prison guards, Lu HaiKong appeared before him. Without giving Qin Shu Bao a chance to speak, Lu HaiKong extended his hand, and a colorful stream of light appeared in his palm.
"A Heaven and Earth Blessing in exchange for a Tang Dynasty Historical General. Did I make a profit or a loss?" Lu HaiKong muttered to himself.
Without hesitation, he injected the Heaven and Earth Blessing into Qin Shu Bao, who was still in a state of shock. Lu HaiKong then left Qin Shu Bao floating in the air and walked towards Wei Chi Gong.
After also giving a Heaven and Earth Blessing to Wei Chi Gong, who was completely bewildered, Lu HaiKong finally arrived at Cheng Yaojin's cell.
Seeing Cheng Yaojin waiting for him, fully expecting his arrival, Lu HaiKong suddenly laughed, "I find that I don't quite enjoy dealing with intelligent people, especially someone like you!"
Hearing this, Cheng Yaojin smiled and, without a word, rose to his feet and knelt on one knee. "Cheng Yaojin pays his respects to the Lord!"
Lu HaiKong stared deeply at Cheng Yaojin, hesitating for a moment before ultimately bestowing another Heaven and Earth Blessing upon him.
Three Heaven and Earth Blessings had purified the foreign demons within the three special historical generals, effectively trading three blessings for three top-tier historical generals. To others, this deal seemed like a profitable one, but to Lu HaiKong, he felt he might have lost out.
It wasn't that he lacked confidence in controlling Cheng Yaojin and the others; rather, he was well aware of the true power of the Heaven and Earth Blessings.
However, with seven more blessings in his possession, he decided to be a little more carefree and indulge himself.
Looking at the three figures floating in mid-air, Lu HaiKong thought to himself,
