Chapter 1144: Link's Escape Plan
Chapter 1144: Link's Escape Plan
"Darac and Reklar can easily reach the outer planets," Link nodded, then shook his head. "But I don’t think they’ll chase after us mere minnows. To them, we’re just insignificant ants, not worth the effort."
"But what if they do chase us?" Su Yu pressed.
"In that case, I’d have no choice but to risk leaving the solar system and head to the nearest star. Once I gather enough resources there, I’ll find a way to reach the closest civilization."
Link pointed in a specific direction in the sky.
"About 4 light-years in that direction is a star, the closest to your Blue Star."
Then he pointed in another direction. "About 20 light-years in this direction is another star. There’s a civilization on one of the planets near it, which we Starians named 'Greta.' It’s a 1.5-level civilization."
"20 light-years! Oh my god! How long would that take?!" Su Yu was taken aback.
20 light-years! Even at the speed of light, it would take 20 years.
Their peak god-tier speed in a vacuum, with ample spiritual energy, could only reach 10,000 times the speed of sound, or about 3,400,000 meters per second, which is roughly one percent of the speed of light.
Even at one percent of the speed of light, it would take 2000 years to get there! 2000 years! Could they really survive the journey?
...
Link hadn’t done the detailed calculations earlier, but now he did, and he was immediately shocked!
2000 years of flight!
Not to mention lifespan, where would he find enough spiritual energy to sustain such a journey?
So he could only smile wryly at Su Yu. "When you do the math, flying to Greta isn’t feasible... But that’s not a problem. Even if we can’t reach Greta, we still have the Saint Song communication terminal with us.
If Saint Song ever restores its functions and resumes operations, we can contact them to pick us up. As long as we don’t get caught by the Dark Energy Rebels, everything will be fine."
"Ah!" Su Yu sighed deeply.
Listening to Link’s plan, he had to admit it was a good one.
If Emperor Dixin fell, this would be their only way out. Staying on Blue Star would mean certain death.
Could they do the same for the Blue Star civilization, preserving a spark of humanity?
Link spoke up at the right moment. "Fellow Blue Star inhabitants, is anyone willing to join our escape plan? If so, you can come with us for mutual support.
Of course, this journey is extremely dangerous and requires great strength. We’re limiting our companions to those of the god tier and above, so we don’t drag each other down."
Link was tactful; he said "we don’t drag each other down," but what he really meant was "don’t drag us down."
All of Blue Star’s god-tier beings were present: Su Yu, Chancellor Cao, Emperor Qin, Zhong Feng, Xu Xiaotian, Old Meng, and the cat Chenxing.
But upon hearing Link’s words, everyone hesitated.
"This..." The god-tier beings of Blue Star exchanged uneasy glances.
Being a deserter? Honestly, none of them wanted to be a deserter.
But how else could they preserve the human race?
At that moment, Chancellor Cao stepped forward.
He began solemnly, "First, we need to clarify one thing—has human civilization truly reached the brink of extinction?"
"Um, almost certainly," Su Yu frowned, carefully considering his answer. "The survival of our Blue Star civilization hinges on whether Emperor Dixin can emerge alive from the Phobos Wave Space. But the chances of that happening are less than 1%..."
"Actually, it's less than one in ten thousand," Linke interrupted. "To be honest, I think even that is being generous."
"Alright, one in ten thousand," Su Yu conceded with a shrug.
He then turned to Chancellor Cao. "If we disregard the extremely low probability of a miracle, our Blue Star civilization is indeed on the verge of destruction. No one can stop this overwhelming tide."
"Indeed," Chancellor Cao stroked his long beard and nodded.
He continued, "Since the destruction of humanity is inevitable, we are left with two options: first, send a group of people out to preserve the human race; second, do nothing and perish together."
"Exactly," President Hu Jing agreed solemnly. "As the president, I feel responsible for the survival of our civilization. I would prefer the first option. I hope to send a group of people to carry the torch of humanity, and as for the rest..."
He paused, unable to bring himself to finish the sentence.
Chancellor Cao nodded. "Then let's send Su Yu, Xu Xiaotian, Zhong Feng, and Meng Lianggu out. We can also recruit a group of teenagers, put them into a state of suspended animation, and transport them using special spatial equipment. This might maximize the preservation of the human race."
"Send us out?" The four of them were taken aback.
While it seemed like the best option, Su Yu didn't feel the same way.
The thought of spending countless years in the desolate void of space made his spine chill.
He would rather stay and perish with Blue Star than face such a fate.
Chancellor Cao turned to the First Emperor, smiling. "Emperor Ying Zheng, would you like to go with Linke to outer space? If you want to, you can join them."
"I? I'll pass," the First Emperor waved his sleeve, his voice tinged with melancholy. "With human civilization on the brink of extinction, what's the point of going out? I'd rather stay and see it through to the end."
Chancellor Cao opened his mouth to speak, but before he could, Su Yu's voice, filled with determination, cut in. "I won't go either. Let Zhong Feng and the others go. I want to stay and do my best for those who don't have the chance to leave."
To be honest, Su Yu didn't want to live a life of hiding and running to preserve the human race. While he knew it was a noble cause, he was afraid of such a life.
In a split second, Su Yu had already decided what he would do in the last month of his life.
Zhong Feng and the others taking the torch out could be called the "Torch Plan."
However, most people wouldn't be able to participate in the "Torch Plan." Zhong Feng and his group could only take a hundred or two teenagers at most.
In the remaining days, Su Yu planned to help as many people as possible who couldn't join the "Torch Plan" but still didn't want to die.
According to the Dark Energy Rebel Army's records, there were often some "stragglers" left behind after they sacrificed a planet. Su Yu decided to increase the number of these "stragglers" as much as possible.
While these "stragglers" might not be able to rebuild civilization, every additional survivor was a small victory.
