Chapter 114: 'Unforeseen' Detector Tsunade [1220]
Chapter 114: 'Unforeseen' Detector Tsunade [1220]
South of the Konoha Campsite.
The Canyon.
Fengye's figure was perched on the steep cliff, struggling to climb upwards with one hand.
Single-handed climbing demands not only arm strength but also core strength from the waist and hips, making it an extremely intense workout, especially when carrying extra weight. He had to master not only climbing with one hand but also controlling his chakra to infuse and disperse the force within the rock wall.
Otherwise, the weight would be enough to shatter the rocks.
Whoosh! Whoosh!!
Fengye climbed with difficulty until he reached the top of the cliff, then began to climb back down with the other hand.
It had been over a month since he arrived at the forward camp. During this time, aside from a mission with Tsunade to deal with a group of elite Cloud ninjas, he had spent the rest of his time training.
The restriction of the fifth gate of the Eight Inner Gates had been loosened to its limit, and if all went well, he would break through today.
Today he turned eleven.
Of course, his physical age had already surpassed fourteen and was approaching fifteen. His height had reached 5'10", and his appearance now resembled that of Naruto and Sasuke in the Naruto: Shippuden era.
After making his way down to the bottom of the valley, Fengye took a brief rest before climbing back up. Halfway up, he finally felt the shackles of the fifth gate of the Eight Inner Gates completely unlock.
"Finally..."
Fengye exhaled a long breath and let go of the wall, stepping onto the cliff with one foot and dashing downward.
After reaching the valley floor, he slumped against the wall, panting heavily until his stamina recovered, then stood up once more.
He took two steps forward.
Buzz!
A silvery light shone. First, it was a dull silver, then it suddenly brightened, and strands of lightning arcs intertwined with his silver-white hair.
After consecutively opening the third and fourth gates, Fengye wasted no time. He clenched his fists and roared, and a surging lightning-natured chakra burst forth, shattering the restraints of the fifth gate within his body.
Boom!!
The powerful chakra rippled outward, causing the ground beneath his feet to crack.
The silvery light that enveloped his body became more intense, and as he raised his arms, strands of lightning arcs became visible.
Under the impact of this powerful chakra, his clothes also showed signs of strain with fine cracks.
"Ouch... that's really painful."
The intense pain made Fengye hiss. Even with his exceptionally high pain tolerance, he found it hard to bear.
After sustaining it briefly, he reversed time and returned to his pre-gate-opening state, panting heavily.
"So this is the fifth gate of the Lightning Release, and as expected, it's much more powerful than the fourth gate. With this speed and chakra, if I encounter Chiyo again, her puppets won't be able to stop me, and she probably won't even have a chance to use her last resort."
Fengye sighed.
Undoubtedly, he had now reached the pinnacle of Kage-level, and there were very few Kage-level ninjas he couldn't instantly defeat.
With this level of power, coupled with his time-reversal ability, there were only a handful of beings in the entire ninja world who still posed a threat to him!
Fengye did not immediately return to the camp.
He remained in the canyon, repeatedly entering the fifth gate state.
The Cell Activation technique he learned from Orochimaru and the medical ninjutsu he learned from Tsunade both had the ability to enhance and weaken sensory perception.
The pain of the fifth gate was too intense for most people to bear, but with these techniques, he could mitigate the pain.
Once the pain was weakened, he could easily endure it.
After solving this problem, Fengye began to adapt to the fifth gate state and further develop new techniques while in this state.
Previously, his most powerful attack was the Dazzling Flash. But now, when he went all out, the blade of his Kusanagi Sword had reached a level where it could cut through the air without generating burning flames. The slashes he delivered were like a crescent moon, a dazzling and brilliant silvery light.
Silver Moon Blast!
"I wonder if you, the Third Raikage, who is known for having the strongest defense, can withstand this attack."
...
Two days later.
Inside Tsunade's tent.
"A group of Cloud ninjas has been spotted within Fire Country, and judging by their route and objective, they seem to be planning to disrupt our supply lines?" Fengye asked, looking at a ninja who had come to deliver a message to Tsunade.
The Anbu ninja nodded and said, "Hokage-sama has already assembled a team of fifty elite shinobi. Please head over as soon as possible, Tsunade-sama."
Konoha's reconnaissance ninjas had discovered a group of Cloud ninjas taking a detour toward their rear. There were about two to thirty of them, and their apparent goal was to disrupt Konoha's supply lines within Fire Country.
Hiruzen Sarutobi's stance was naturally to wipe out this daring group of Cloud ninjas who had ventured deep into Fire Country. He immediately assembled twice the number of troops and decided to have Tsunade lead the mission.
He wanted to ensure they could annihilate the enemy.
"Alright, I'll head there immediately."
Tsunade responded calmly.
The Anbu ninja nodded and left the tent.
Fengye shrugged and said to Tsunade, "I feel like this is a mission I should be handling. You're stealing my thunder, Teacher."
Tsunade stood up, glancing at Fengye as she put on her coat. "It's best to use your forbidden jutsu sparingly."
Seeing that Tsunade was about to set off, Fengye thought for a moment before calling out to stop her. "Wait a moment."
"Hmm?"
Tsunade paused and looked at him.
Fengye flipped his hand, and a deck of playing cards appeared out of thin air. He shuffled them a couple of times before dealing them to Tsunade. "Come on, let's play a quick game for safety's sake before you leave."
Whenever she gambled, she either lost or won and got into trouble. This 'law' regarding Tsunade had to be utilized well.
"You little..."
Tsunade was both annoyed and amused by Fengye's antics, but in the end, she reached out and took five cards.
Fengye also took five cards and glanced at them. Seeing that he had four sevens, he tilted his head and threw them back into the deck. Then, he looked at Tsunade's hand.
"Huh?"
Tsunade fanned out her cards and was surprised to see that she had a royal straight flush!
There was no doubt that with his four sevens against her straight flush, he would lose a substantial amount.
"Hmm, it seems that Cloud ninja squad is highly suspicious, and going there would be extremely dangerous. Teacher, why don't you let the Hokage handle this personally?"
"..."
Tsunade shot Fengye a look.
While it was true that getting this hand made her feel uneasy, how could she explain this to Hiruzen Sarutobi? Should she tell him that she got a royal straight flush in a game of cards, so the Cloud ninja squad must be up to no good?! Such a flimsy and outrageous excuse would likely make Hiruzen angry.
"If you don't want to refuse the mission, Teacher, then for safety's sake, I'll come with you on this mission."
Fengye took Tsunade's cards and put them back into the deck, then offered a second suggestion.
Tsunade thought for a moment but ultimately decided against relying on something as intangible as luck to determine that the Cloud ninja squad was suspicious. That was too far-fetched.
There was no issue with Fengye accompanying her; it would be like a little outing, and she wouldn't need to rely on Fengye's strength.
