Chapter 1135: Firing the Cannon at Old Man!
Chapter 1135: Firing the Cannon at Old Man!
Was it over ten years ago when Kuro first joined the Navy?
Most people dismissed these words as Kuro merely venting, just another attempt to belittle Red-Haired Shanks.
Only Klah looked thoughtful. Unlike Lida’s confusion, he understood exactly what "Kuro, Mr." implied.
Because he’d seen it before. He’d experienced it firsthand. Now he was playing along with Kuro’s act to realize their Goal – one grand enough to make all seafarers pale in comparison.
“What terrifying ability,” Klah murmured, watching the dark clouds torn open by Kuro’s finger. “Especially here in the Grand Line.”
Red-Haired Shanks tilted his head, watching the heavens split apart. He chuckled dryly, shaking his head. “Honestly, I don’t want to fight you. But—”
He really didn’t wish to battle Kuro again. That slash during the Marineford-scale war still left his chest aching occasionally. Now here they were, once more in the Grand Line. Just like their captains had once clashed at sea…
Shanks whipped his rapier through the air, producing a resonant ‘whing!’ as his expression hardened. “I believe in Luffy. He’ll win Wano Country. I won’t let you interrupt him. This is when youth are blossoming their futures. Don’t rob them of their potential, Kuro!”
“You sound just like Silvers Rayleigh – full of lofty speeches. No wonder you sailed together.”
Kuro spun Autumn Water, pointing its blade at Shanks. “Then I’ll make you lose another leg, just like Silvers Rayleigh.”
He’d already lost one hand. Losing a leg meant nothing.
“Silvers Rayleigh, huh?” Shanks smiled. “Heard you killed my vice-captain. Not sure if it’s true. Seems we’ve got quite the history now.”
The Navy and pirates had many rivalries, but none deeper than these two. One inherited Roger’s will, the other gained Shanks’ strength. One aimed to protect the next generation, the other to arrest it.
Former crewmates had already fallen – Silvers Rayleigh, Bartholomew… All had been defeated by Kuro’s hand.
Their opposing ideologies and pasts made them bitterest enemies. Kuro knew this well.
He’d rather face Kaido and Big Mom than fight Shanks. This battle would inevitably turn life-or-death.
But now.
“The Navy and pirates were never meant to coexist, Red-Haired Shanks!” Kuro slashed his blade, gripping his other hand into a fist. “You’re standing in my way!”
Whoosh!
The sky erupted in Raindrop Slash – fist-sized blades of water hammering Red-Haired Shanks’ ship, Red Force. Ben Beckman caught some in his palm, Armament Haki instantly forming.
Shanks’ pupils constricted as he barely parried with Griffin, the force sending him flying back to his own ship.
“Azure Dragon Rain!”
Kuro bellowed. The rain transformed into blades, shredding Red Force’s sails, mast, bow, and finally the deck itself into tatters.
On the Grand Line, no one could out-navigate Kuro – master of sea navigation.
“Not good!” Shanks glared at Golden Lion’s ship as his crew defended against the rain blades. Some weaker members fell, their bodies mangled on the disintegrating deck.
War left no room for mercy!
“You bastard!” Shanks looked up as Golden Lion’s massive ship floated into the sky. A golden-uniformed figure in a hooded cloak descended before the bow.
“You dare intercept me on the Grand Line? No one can stop me here, Red-Haired Shanks!”
Kuro’s fingers danced like a conductor. Golden Lion pivoted, its lion-headed bow aiming at Red Force’s battered hull. He raised his finger, grinning wildly.
“Pray! Wail! Despair beneath the tides!”
Boom!
A colossal tsunami erupted around the ship, its crest shaped like a roaring lion’s head, smashing toward Red Force.
“A terrifying man!” cried a pirate officer with long yellow hair, wearing a red shirt and white gloves. He slammed his spear into the wave, creating a fissure. But the tsunami quickly healed, continuing its onslaught. He barely steadied himself on the rain-ravaged deck.
“Captain! We can’t handle this!” he shouted.
Shanks focused on the tsunami’s origin – where Golden Lion had hovered. Ben Beckman’s expression darkened too.
“I’ll handle it!”
Beckman spat his cigarette, his arms swelling with Haki as he swung his rifle like an iron mace. The upper half of the tsunami exploded, revealing Golden Lion’s bow.
Inside that gaping lion mouth, countless lasers concentrated below Kuro’s skull-like grin, cigar clenched between his teeth. He exhaled smoke, his left hand snapping downward as he roared.
“Fire The Cannon AT Old Man!!!”
He’d see if they had any ground left to stand on after this laser barrage!
