Chapter 113: The Difficulty of Learning Runic Script! (Seeking Support Before Going Vip!)
Chapter 113: The Difficulty of Learning Runic Script! (Seeking Support Before Going Vip!)
Since Ivan understood quickly, Aisia explained everything in one go.
"To be more precise, we can achieve this through Runic Script. Each Runic Script has a specific meaning. By arranging some Runic Scripts in a particular way, we can make the Magic Power in our bodies release the desired magic, just like interpreting gestures and incantations."
"What if we could directly tell the Magic Power what we want to do?" Ivan suddenly remembered the magical state he had once entered.
"That involves Wandless Casting and Wordless Casting. Only a very few Wizards can do that", Aisia explained, then reminded Ivan not to be too ambitious. That was not something he could do at his current level.
After a brief explanation of the principles behind Magic Item creation, Aisia placed a Carving Knife in Ivan's hand.
Finally, she set a Stone Tablet on the workbench, engraved with over a hundred different Ancient Runes. However, only about half of them had annotations, and detailed explanations were provided for only thirty or so!
Most of the annotated Runes were related to death, Corruption, and pain. Only a few Runes represented positive attributes like protection and isolation.
Seeing this, Ivan finally understood why Aisia mostly created Dark Magic Items. It was because they had only deciphered this part of the Runes.
"Next, try to engrave these Runes on the wood. Just practice the first one today until you can engrave it completely!" Aisia pointed to the wooden board on the table.
Ivan picked up the Carving Knife and began experimenting, engraving symbols on the wood. It didn't seem too difficult at first glance.
Despite never having had similar experience before, Ivan had enough patience. After failing numerous times, he finally managed to engrave the first character completely on the wood.
However, it looked somewhat crooked, and the engraving depth was inconsistent.
This Rune certainly did not satisfy Ivan, so he continued to practice.
Engraving complex Runes on wood was not an easy task, and it certainly wasn't something that could be learned in a day or two. Ivan engraved dozens of times but could not achieve the neatness of the Runes on the Stone Tablet.
Ding, after some practice, your Alchemy proficiency has improved. Current level: 3 (196/2000)
Hearing the prompt in his mind, Ivan paused his Rune engraving practice, feeling quite frustrated. After practicing for over three hours, his Alchemy proficiency had only increased by a few dozen points.
Clearly, engraving Runes was a skill that required effort and long-term practice to improve.
It might take days or even weeks to master.
What about that?
Ivan had a thought. Since returning home, he had not used any Academic Points to purchase Scholar Experience Cards.
He had kept them for self-protection in critical moments. Now that he could freely use Bloodline Magic, the dangers of Knockturn Alley were much less of a threat to him. Keeping so many Academic Points was no longer very useful.
Thinking about it, Ivan decided to act. The system's prompt sounded immediately in his mind.
Ding, one hundred Academic Points deducted!
In the next second, a familiar sensation washed over him. Ivan suddenly found the Carving Knife easier to control. As long as his hand was steady enough, engraving Runes was not too difficult.
Aisia watched from the side, finding it amusing to see Ivan's expression change from calm to frustration.
She had spent a long time learning to inscribe Runes, nearly going mad with frustration and wanting to give up many times before she could barely meet the standards required for her inscriptions to be usable. The amount of effort she had invested in practicing up to this point was immeasurable.
Thinking that this foundational learning would still take a long time, Aisia turned her attention to researching new Rune Arrangement methods.
After an unknown amount of time, when her research hit a bottleneck, Aisia turned back to check on Ivan's progress and was suddenly stunned.
The large wooden board was densely covered with Ancient Runes, each one initially crooked and uneven with varying depths, but as she scanned further, the Runes became increasingly neat.
The last few were indistinguishable from those inscribed on the stone tablet.
Aisia's expression turned peculiar. If it weren't for the clear progression of Ivan's improvement on the wooden board, she would have thought he had been secretly practicing for years behind her back.
The speed of his progress was simply too fast!
Aisia's gaze quietly fixed on Ivan's right hand, which held the Carving Knife. It was perfectly steady, not the slightest bit of tremor. Under her watchful eyes, Ivan inscribed another thirty Runes, each more precise than the last.
Clearly, Ivan's skill in inscribing Runes was still improving.
Aisia recalled that Ivan had mentioned gaining a magical ability after fusing his bloodline, allowing him to significantly increase his mental processing speed and learn various spells quickly.
At the time, Aisia didn't believe him. How much faster could someone learn, really?
Now, she had no choice but to believe it.
Could fusing a bloodline really lead to such a significant improvement?
Aisia stared blankly for a while. If it weren't for Ivan telling her that the success rate of fusing bloodlines was very low and the consequences of failure were dire, she might have been tempted to try it herself.
Ivan, on the other hand, was quite unsatisfied. The Runes he inscribed seemed to be missing something compared to those he had seen before.
And even when he infused them with Magic Power, there was no effect at all.
"Learning Runes is really too difficult!" Ivan sighed. He had spent two hundred Academic Points and two hours in the experience card mode to reach this level, but the inscribed Runes still weren't up to standard.
If he exited this state, wouldn't his inscriptions be even worse?
Thinking about this, Ivan became even more determined.
Aisia was speechless and quickly interrupted him.
"You can try infusing Magic Power into the Carving Knife and inscribing the Runes on this piece of Yew Wood."
"Infuse Magic Power?" Ivan was taken aback but quickly followed her advice. He discovered that the Carving Knife in his hand was a magic item, and when he infused it with Magic Power, the tip of the knife glowed faintly with a magical aura.
Ivan lightly dragged the Carving Knife across the wooden block, leaving a mark.
The Carving Knife became much sharper, and more importantly, the mark it left was different from before, with the imprint of Magic Power still visible.
Ivan realized that he had been using the wrong method earlier. He began inscribing on the Yew Wood that Aisia had given him, choosing a Rune shaped like a cross with branches on either side, representing Corruption.
