Chapter 113: Shisui's Astonishing Prowess (45)
Chapter 113: Shisui's Astonishing Prowess (45)
As Mu Yue walked, she introduced the A-group students' capabilities.
"The students in Group A had already largely completed their chakra control training within two weeks of the start of the special training. During the training, the focus was on enhancing their chakra control, learning the Body Flicker Technique, and improving their taijutsu and ninjutsu skills."
"Group A is the fastest-progressing group, and their overall strength is the strongest among all the groups. In terms of composition, they mainly consist of fourth-grade students and graduated genin, followed by third-grade and first-grade students."
"There's a first-grade student?" A curious teacher interjected. "How is it possible for a first-year student to reach such a level?"
Having mastered chakra control to the extent of being able to climb trees and walk on water, as well as possessing the Body Flicker Technique, would be considered strong even among genin. It seemed implausible that a first-grade student could attain such a level.
"That first-grade student is probably Uchiha Shisui from your class, Teacher Mu Yue. If it is him, then perhaps it's plausible," Ueda Aya asked.
Aside from Shisui, she couldn't think of any other first-year student capable of such feats.
Mu Yue nodded in agreement.
Although Shisui's reputation as a genius was well-known within the ninja academy, some jonin teachers still found it hard to believe that a first-grade student could attain such a level.
They didn't just doubt that the top student of the first grade could achieve this; they believed that even the top student of the second grade wouldn't be capable of it.
It was only because Mu Yue had a good reputation and relationships with her colleagues that they didn't suspect her of abusing her privileges by directly assigning Shisui to Group A due to personal favoritism.
Sarutobi Hiruzen merely smiled and remained silent.
He wasn't sure how strong Shisui had become, but even based on Shisui's previous victory against Asuma, he knew that the young Uchiha deserved to be in Group A.
"No. 17, Uchiha Shisui, and No. 18, Namikaze Minato, prepare for battle."
Mu Yue and the others arrived just in time to catch Shisui's match.
"It's Minato, huh? I taught him before he graduated, and he was a pretty outstanding student," the teacher who had previously expressed doubt about first-graders in Group A commented with a smile.
He felt proud of his former student and was glad that he had the opportunity to showcase his abilities in front of the Hokage.
This teacher was well aware of Minato's capabilities. Even back in school, Minato had been strong, and now, after graduating and undergoing further training, he was expected to easily overpower a first-grade student.
Minato, however, was unaware that his former teacher had already mentally conceded the match upon hearing his opponent's name. All he felt was a headache upon realizing who he was up against.
There was no room for doubt—he was destined to be eliminated in this round, and he didn't have the slightest confidence in defeating Shisui.
Of course, Minato didn't give up outright. If he was going to lose, he wanted to at least put up a decent fight.
Taking a deep breath, he walked onto the battlefield with a carefree expression and formed the mutual antagonism seal with Shisui.
Knowing the likely outcome, all he could do now was to showcase his abilities to the best of his ability.
"Look at Minato's composed expression. He seems quite confident about this battle," the jonin teacher commented, feeling proud that Minato was his student.
The surrounding teachers nodded in agreement.
In fact, most of the teachers trusted Mu Yue's judgment and believed in her integrity when she said that Shisui was qualified to be in Group A. However, they didn't think Shisui could defeat Minato.
On one side was a first-grade student who had just completed one semester, and on the other was a genin who had graduated some time ago and undergone the same special training. By all accounts, Minato should emerge as the victor.
They believed that even if it were Hatake Kakashi, who had just finished his first semester, he would still lose to Minato.
Mu Yue wore a gentle smile and remained silent. She didn't need to say much; Shisui's performance would be a slap in the face to the skeptics.
Sarutobi Hiruzen stroked his goatee and watched the battlefield with a smile, curious to see the reactions of the teachers when they witnessed Minato's defeat.
As soon as Mu Yue's voice fell, Bing Zuleiton immediately used the Body Flicker Technique to rush forward, holding a kunai as he stabbed at Shisui.
He knew of Shisui's formidable abilities, so he went straight for a full-force attack without needing to test him first.
"This kid, Bing Zuleiton, has a tendency to go all out without holding back, and he still hasn't changed that," the jonin teacher commented, shaking his head, as he watched Bing Zuleiton rush forward with the Body Flicker Technique, not giving Shisui any opportunity to demonstrate his skills.
But the next moment, something surprising happened. Just as Bing Zuleiton was about to strike, Uchiha Shisui's body disappeared, and his kunai stabbed at empty air.
Undeterred, Bing Zuleiton instantly threw a kunai backward, not giving Shisui any chance to escape.
Shisui paused his offense and slightly sidestepped to dodge the flying kunai.
"His speed is even faster than Zuleiton's!" Bing Zuleiton's teacher exclaimed in surprise.
Bing Zuleiton then grabbed a handful of shuriken and threw them at Shisui. He quickly performed hand seals and executed the Clone Technique, creating four clones that climbed the trees, constantly switching places with each other.
"Fire Style: Phoenix Flower Claw Crimson!" Shisui dodged the shuriken and immediately began performing ninjutsu.
He first spit out a large mouthful of flames and then quickly threw shuriken into the fire. The shuriken, now engulfed in flames, became fiery projectiles that shot toward the trees where Bing Zuleiton and his clones were.
Boom! Boom!
The shuriken, carrying intense flames, hit the trees, creating huge holes. In an instant, the trees that were targeted by Shisui's attack collapsed, and all of Bing Zuleiton's clones disappeared, leaving only his singed and bruised main body, who had managed to dodge the worst of it.
"Is this the capability of a first-grade student?" Many jonin teachers were stunned by the destructive power of Shisui's fire technique.
Not only first-grade students, but even a graduated genin would have difficulty performing such a fire jutsu.
"Zuleiton still has a chance. A ninja's strength isn't solely determined by ninjutsu; taijutsu is equally important," Bing Zuleiton's teacher thought, believing that his student still had a chance to win.
This Uchiha Shisui's ninjutsu is so powerful, but his taijutsu might not be as good. After all, he's still so young; it's impossible to be proficient in everything. On the other hand, Bing Zuleiton specializes in taijutsu.
Shisui didn't cast another ninjutsu but instead rushed toward Bing Zuleiton, who was struggling to get up.
Caught off guard, Bing Zuleiton quickly climbed to his feet and engaged Shisui in close-quarters combat.
Although Bing Zuleiton appeared taller and more robust than Shisui, he was quickly overpowered in the taijutsu exchange, much to the surprise of the watching jonin teachers.
Bing Zuleiton's teacher rubbed his eyes, widened them, and looked at the battlefield again. It took him a few moments to confirm that he wasn't seeing things.
"Uchiha Shisui wins," Mu Yue declared, as Bing Zuleiton couldn't withstand Shisui's relentless assault and soon lost the match.
The teachers were once again enveloped in an eerie silence, their faces etched with disbelief.
They wondered if Uchiha Shisui had started training in the womb, as his first-grade prowess was truly extraordinary.
"Shisui is the most diligent student in Class One," Mu Yue said casually.
Other students only started full-time training during the special training, but Shisui has been training day and night in the Southern Border Forest for a long time. During the special training, he trained during the day and continued his training with me at night.
"All of you should learn from Mu Yue and create more teaching miracles," Sarutobi Hiruzen said with a smile, seeing the shocked expressions on the teachers' faces.
"No. 19, Sarutobi Asuma, and No. 20, Uchiha Obito, prepare for battle."
