Chapter 113: Different Magic (Second Update)
Chapter 113: Different Magic (Second Update)
"You fat bastard, are you done yet!"
Seeing the Bulky Middle-aged Man repeatedly attack him with deadly moves, Jerry's temper flared up.
He had refrained from attacking first, not wanting to make enemies with the mages of this world right after arriving.
But it was clear that this mage was no good person. Despite facing a young man and a child, he showed no mercy and continued to try to kill them.
More importantly, Jerry realized that the magic the mage was using didn't give him an overwhelming sense of powerlessness.
He felt that if he used his full strength, he might have a chance to win.
If things got worse, he could just knock the opponent out, then use the Cruciatus Curse and the Imperius Curse to quickly gather information about the magical world.
"Full-Speed Repel!"
With his left hand, Jerry swung the Trash Can Lid to deflect the two daggers flying at him. With his right hand, he pointed his wand and cast a repelling charm to push away the two daggers aimed at Dave.
Once the immediate danger was averted, Jerry didn't wait for the Bulky Middle-aged Man to attack again. He pointed his wand at the opponent:
"Stupefy!"
A blue beam of magic shot quickly toward the Bulky Middle-aged Man.
The Bulky Middle-aged Man, clearly experienced in combat, didn't know the power of the blue beam but still swung his staff to control a nearby trash can, using it to block the sleeping charm.
"Such a powerful Telekinesis Charm!"
Seeing the Bulky Middle-aged Man move the trash can to block his sleeping charm, Jerry marveled inwardly.
He knew the Telekinesis Charm as well, but his version was more like an advanced levitation charm. It could move objects, but the speed was only good enough for daily use.
If used in combat, it would be easy for even a normal person to dodge.
The magic the fat man used, however, was clearly not a daily charm. The speed at which the daggers and the trash can moved indicated that it was a specialized combat charm.
"Something's coming!"
At that moment, Jerry's ears perked up, sensing something invisible moving toward them at high speed.
He quickly pushed Dave away and dodged to the side.
"Boom!"
The spot where Jerry and Dave had been standing was hit by an invisible force, which then slammed into a street lamp, bending it completely.
"Enhanced Repulsion Charm?"
Jerry clearly felt that this invisible attack was similar to the repelling charm he had used, but the repelling charm emitted a force from the wand.
This, however, was more like an air cannon, capable of attacking from a distance without leaving any trace.
If not for his heightened senses in Superman Mode, which allowed him to detect the unusual air movement, he would have been seriously injured.
"Invisible and intangible magic attack, huh? I can do that too!"
After dodging the magic, Jerry, still a bit shaken, raised his wand to cast a Shadowblade Curse.
But at that moment, Dave's words interrupted his casting:
"Wow, what a huge bird!"
It turned out that behind the Bulky Middle-aged Man, a gigantic Iron Bird was flying through the air. On its back stood a stylish uncle in vintage leather clothes.
With his hands in a pose similar to the Kamehameha, the stylish uncle launched a massive water ball, firing it like a cannonball directly at the Bulky Middle-aged Man.
The bulky middle-aged man, who hadn't even had time to react, was hit directly by the water ball. It was as if he had been hit with a Petrificus Totalus spell, trapping him entirely within the water.
The Iron Bird landed with a loud thud. The man in the leather coat standing on its back immediately waved to Dave and Jerry.
"Dave, and the young mage, get up here quickly! My water ball won't hold him for long!"
"Oh, it's... it's you!"
Dave clearly recognized Balthazar and hurriedly climbed onto the back of the Iron Bird with Balthazar's help.
Jerry, with a quick glance, put away his wand, grabbed onto the Iron Bird's wing, and jumped up.
At that moment, the bulky middle-aged man's staff flashed, and the water ball burst.
"Balthazar!"
Seeing Balthazar, the bulky middle-aged man's eyes turned bloodshot, and he roared in anger, ready to launch another magic attack.
However, Balthazar had clearly anticipated this. He rubbed his hands together, and a powerful energy ball glowing with electricity instantly formed. As the water ball burst, he hurled it at the bulky middle-aged man.
The bulky middle-aged man was instantly enveloped in smoke from the powerful electric ball, which sent him flying at least seven or eight meters away, crashing into a shop on the street.
"Is he down?"
Feeling the power of the electric ball Balthazar had just thrown, Jerry's eyes lit up.
This magic seemed quite powerful!
"King of the Magic Worms, Horvath, has lived for over two thousand years and has already obtained the Eternal Life Force. With my current strength, it's very difficult to kill him!"
Balthazar shook his head. If he could kill him, he wouldn't have kept him sealed all this time.
As he spoke, he pressed his right hand, which bore a ring, against the back of the Iron Bird. The Iron Bird immediately regained its vitality, spread its wings, and soared into the sky with the three of them.
"Two thousand years! Eternal Life Force!"
On the back of the Iron Bird, Jerry maintained a calm exterior, but his heart was racing.
He couldn't believe that mages in this world could live so long, and apparently, they could even maintain their physical youth.
At that moment, Jerry felt that even if the other magic in this world wasn't great, just the ability to achieve eternal life made it all worth it.
But was that fat King of the Magic Worms really that powerful? Given the short duration of the fight, it seemed like he wasn't that impressive!
Also, why did this scene feel so familiar?
On the other side, Horvath, who was smoking from the electric shock, indeed emerged from the shop as if nothing had happened.
Seeing that the Iron Bird had already vanished into the sky, Horvath, enraged, slammed his staff into the ground.
"Where did that mage come from? He's quite skilled for his age. I need to find an ally, but first, I need to find the Hand of Death!"
"Sir, raise your hands! You are suspected of theft. Please come with us!"
At that moment, the shop's alarm had attracted a police car that was patrolling nearby. Two police officers, guns in hand, approached Horvath and shouted a warning.
"Do you know who I am? You dare to speak to me like this!"
Horvath, still fuming, sneered and tapped his staff twice. The police car was instantly thrown by an invisible force, landing on the ground with a thud, the officers inside motionless.
Horvath walked into the police car with an elegant stride, then tapped his staff against it. The police car immediately transformed into a black sports car, which drove off in the direction of his memory.
