Chapter 113: Adventure Ends
Chapter 113: Adventure Ends
As Liam approached the door, he received 20 Deviation Points for killing the Basilisk. It seemed this adventure had been quite rewarding.
Stepping through the small door, it quickly closed behind him, blending seamlessly with the wall. After examining the wall, Liam noticed a tiny carving of two overlapping 'S's on one of the bricks.
After marking the approximate location of the door on the wall, Liam began walking down the corridor. He realized he had never been in this area before and was eager to find a way out.
The corridor had no windows, and the only light came from torches burning on the walls. Liam checked his pocket watch and saw that it was already nine in the morning. This made it clear that he was likely in the basement.
After walking for a while, he suddenly heard footsteps coming from around a corner. Instinctively, Liam cast a Disillusionment Charm on himself and crouched in a corner, remaining motionless (his skill level was not high enough to move without being easily detected).
A few students wearing green and silver scarves walked past, then spoke to a section of the wall, which opened into a door. They then entered.
So this must be the entrance to the Slytherin Common Room, Liam thought, and he followed the direction they had come from.
A few minutes later, he reached a large staircase. He recognized this as the path he took every week to reach the Potions classroom: the Grand Staircase to the Dungeons. After confirming that no one was around, Liam dispelled the Disillusionment Charm and began climbing the stairs.
As soon as he returned to the Common Room, Liam encountered the Weasley Twins. Fred greeted him, "Liam, where did you wander off to last night? You look pretty rough." "Yeah, we could smell you as soon as you came in", George added.
When Fred mentioned night wandering, Liam felt a surge of tension. Then he remembered that he had spent several hours in an underground tunnel that hadn't been cleaned in at least half a century, and it would be easy for experienced night wanderers like the twins to figure out he had been out.
It seemed they hadn't discovered his visit to the Chamber of Secrets. Relieved, Liam smiled and said, "I found a secret passage yesterday and followed it for a long way, which is why I only got back this morning."
"Where does that secret passage lead?" Fred asked, his eyes lighting up with excitement.
"I found it behind the Statue of Gregory Goyle. It leads to the other side of the Black Lake", Liam recalled a plot point from the book.
"For a good boy like you, finding a secret passage is quite an achievement. But we discovered that place in our first week of school", George said, sounding a bit unimpressed.
"By the way, we're testing a new product tonight. Do you want to come and watch?" Fred suddenly remembered something and invited Liam.
It seemed that his previous help hadn't been in vain. If this went well, he might be able to get more deeply involved in their business. Considering how successful their business became in the original story, becoming an early partner could be a promising move.
With a smile, Liam said to the twins, "Of course, I've always been curious about your research. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to participate."
Hearing Liam's response, George said to Fred, "See, I told you. Many of our friends can't focus on research, but finding someone who, uh... enjoys learning can really help us out."
You mean a bookworm, right? Liam thought to himself as he said goodbye to the twins and returned to his dorm to pack his things.
After washing up and changing into a new set of clothes, Liam opened the spatial door and headed to the Plants vs. Zombies World to develop the photos he had taken.
As he stepped out of the spatial door, he found himself in the Warehouse, where Dave was standing in a white lab coat, examining the trash Liam had thrown in.
Dave jumped in surprise when he saw Liam suddenly appear, then he excitedly said, "In the stuff you threw over, I found the blood of a magical snake. The Dna showed that this snake has been alive for over a thousand years. It's incredible."
"You should know, my world has magic, so sometimes what seems impossible is actually real." Liam handed a box containing a Poison Fang to Dave. "This is one of the few remaining parts of the snake. The residual toxins are very potent, so be careful when handling it. The rest of the parts were completely absorbed by a newly cultivated Mutated Fire Dragon Grass."
Dave took the box, opened it, and then closed it in amazement. "Fire Dragon Grass? How is that possible? I would believe it if you said Chomper did it."
Seeing that Dave didn't believe him, Liam took out the Fire Dragon Grass from the emporium and handed it to Dave. After examining it, Dave had to admit that he couldn't figure out what had happened to this Fire Dragon Grass. The only thing he could determine was that it was in excellent condition.
After looking at the Fire Dragon Grass, Dave asked, "By the way, why did you come here now?"
"I found something left behind by a great Wizard in the snake's den and took photos of it. I came here to develop the photos and see if anyone can help me translate the Latin inside."
"You should have come to me. A few days ago, we found a data storage center in the city. I used the data to upgrade my AI, so it can help you translate the text."
Dave put down his work and led Liam toward the basement of the fortress, finally bringing him to the door of a darkroom.
"Your technology is so advanced, why do you still use film cameras?" Liam asked, puzzled.
"Unfortunately, Doctor Zomboss has installed many Emp generators in the Zombie-infested areas. All digital cameras become useless near them."
The film was quickly developed, and Dave led Liam to the deepest part of the basement, where the computer lab was located. Liam could tell from Dave's eager expression that he had developed a strong interest in the other world.
After placing the photos in a specialized scanner, the scanner quickly read the text. Thankfully, Slytherin's handwriting was clear, making it easy for the system to recognize.
"This computer is just a small one, but it's connected to my laboratory in town via underground fiber optic cables. So, the recognition speed is much faster than you might imagine", Dave said proudly as they waited.
A few minutes later, the computer beeped, indicating that it had finished recognizing all the text. Liam and Dave immediately sat in front of the screen to see what the great Wizard had left for future generations.

Thank you for reading, even if it's just a few more chapters. It feels better than being ignored by a sandcastle author.
