Chapter 112: Tens of Thousands?
Chapter 112: Tens of Thousands?
"No, don't kill me," Wang Weisen begged, kneeling on the ground.
"Good fellow, I can give you money. There's 50,000 yuan in the next room. You can take it. If it's not enough, I have more. Just spare my life, and I'll give it all to you," Wang Weisen pleaded.
Upon hearing the words "50,000 yuan," Jiang Cheng's heart skipped a beat. He hadn't killed Wang Weisen immediately because he sensed that the man was not ordinary and wanted to ask him some questions. For instance, how did he suspect that Jiang Cheng was the one responsible? And was anyone else aware of it?
As soon as Wang Weisen spoke, he mentioned that there was 50,000 yuan in the next room. Jiang Cheng didn't show any reaction and instead asked coldly, "Are you very wealthy?"
Wang Weisen shuddered at the sound of Jiang Cheng's voice and then nodded vigorously like a drowning man clinging to a straw. "Yes, I'm rich. I have tens of thousands of yuan, all locked in a safe at my house in the Outer District. But I need to go back to open the safe and retrieve the money for you."
Jiang Cheng sneered. "Do you think I'm a three-year-old child?"
Wang Weisen continued to plead, "Good fellow, I'm telling the truth. If you don't believe me, I can make a phone call and have my family send the money. We can exchange it for my life."
Jiang Cheng coldly snorted. His primary goal was to kill these people and eliminate the threat. Taking some money on the side was just a bonus. If he prioritized the money over his goal, the risk would increase significantly. Besides, 50,000 yuan was not a small amount.
"Tens of thousands, it seems you hold a high position in the Wild Wolf Gang," Jiang Cheng said.
Wang Weisen shrank back, his neck twitching. "Ah?"
Jiang Cheng pretended to swing his iron rod. "You're the Deputy Boss of the Wild Wolf Gang, aren't you?" Wang Weisen covered his head, quickly admitting, "Yes, I am."
Jiang Cheng recalled the person who had fought him with dual knives earlier. The man's skills were decent, but Jiang Cheng's enhanced body and mastery of the dual sticks made it easy to defeat him.
"I heard you've been inquiring about someone's address recently. What's going on?" Jiang Cheng asked.
Wang Weisen's eyes widened in surprise. "You... you're not Jiang Cheng, are you?" He wondered if the killer was someone else. But what were the chances of that? The person who used dual sticks was the same as the Jiang Cheng he was investigating.
"Ahh!" Wang Weisen cried out as Jiang Cheng struck his arm with the iron rod. "I'll ask you again, do you understand?"
Wang Weisen screamed, "I understand, good fellow, spare my life!"
"Answer my previous question," Jiang Cheng said, choosing not to reveal his true identity for fear of being overheard.
Wang Weisen replied, "Yes, it was recent. One of my men was killed, and I suspected it was that person who did it."
"Why did you suspect that?" Jiang Cheng asked.
"Because that person used a stick, just like you. Some small-time thugs mentioned it before, but I didn't take it seriously. I investigated for a long time but couldn't find any leads until someone reminded me," Wang Weisen said, pausing before continuing. A glint of cold light flashed in his eyes.
"Continue," Jiang Cheng prompted.
Wang Weisen locked eyes with Jiang Cheng. "It was a person from the Flying Eagle Fist Academy, named Xiao Yuanqing. He told me that the person's stick technique was exceptional, capable of taking down ten people alone. That's when I started investigating."
He guessed that the person before him had a slim chance of letting him off.
So, he had to mention Xiao Yuanqing's name.
If the person before him was Jiang Cheng or had any connection to Jiang Cheng, they would definitely seek revenge on Xiao Yuanqing.
Regardless of which of these two died, he would finally get his revenge.
"So, just because of Xiao Yuanqing's words, you're planning to take action against that person?"
Wang Weisen forced a bitter smile, "I'm also thinking that a dead horse is better than a live one. The Iron Fist Gang is about to arrive, and I don't have much time left. But if I had another chance, I definitely wouldn't cause trouble for that person."
He looked at Jiang Cheng with a pleading expression.
Jiang Cheng let out a cold laugh.
Only a fool would believe such nonsense from him.
If they waited for nightfall and then used the bow and arrow to severely injure him, his expression would change entirely.
"Who else knows about this?"
Upon hearing this question, Wang Weisen's face paled, and his entire body began to tremble.
He was all too familiar with this question.
He had asked this of many people, and then ordered his men to kill them.
"Please, let me go. The Wild Wolf Gang has already disbanded, and you've killed all my men. I'm no longer a threat to you. I swear to the heavens that if you let me go, I'll give you all the money in the safe when I return. If I'm lying, may I be struck by lightning and die a terrible death."
"Answer my question."
A cold, emotionless voice responded.
"If I tell you, will you let me go?"
"Don't test my patience."
Jiang Cheng's eyes flashed with killing intent, "Otherwise, I'll break your limbs first, then crush every bone in your body one by one."
"I'll tell you, I'll tell you."
Wang Weisen managed a bitter laugh.
"Almost everyone who knew is already dead, only the gang leader is still alive, but he lives in the outer borough, all alone. Even if he finds out about this later, he won't do anything."
"You guys sure know how to enjoy yourselves."
Jiang Cheng coldly laughed, "After causing countless families to be destroyed, you still have the nerve to live in the outer borough and enjoy your retirement."
Hearing this, Wang Weisen fell silent.
Soon after, a dull thudding sound echoed.
In an instant, Wang Weisen collapsed to the ground, his eyes devoid of life."
"That's that." Jiang Cheng muttered.
His gaze shifted from the corpse to the bow and arrow lying nearby.
This weapon was more lethal than a pistol, and it was silent and invisible.
Additionally, it was more expensive than a pistol.
Jiang Cheng didn't rush to pick it up but instead searched the other rooms.
The man had said everyone was here, and he didn't want any loose ends. Also, he might as well take the money.
After a few minutes of searching, Jiang Cheng confirmed that there were no living people; it was easy to search as all the rooms were empty, except for a few empty cabinets here and there.
He also found the briefcase containing the money, which was placed on the table, visible as soon as one entered.
Exactly five thousand dollars.
"Not bad."
Jiang Cheng smiled.
With this five thousand, he now had over seventy thousand on him.
Buying the secret medicine from Shi Yan would be a breeze.
If he could get an additional hundred or two hundred thousand, he could buy a small apartment in the outer borough and move there permanently.
Perhaps by sparing that guy earlier, he could have obtained the missing hundred thousand, but there were too many variables, and he didn't dare take the risk.
