Chapter 1119: Mechs and Drone Swarms
Chapter 1119: Mechs and Drone Swarms
March 25, 2023
"Anomaly? What anomaly?" Manina asked, his attention wavering but not fully engaged.
The AI, Cyan Devourer, responded, "The anomaly is the recovery speed of the orange barriers. Previously, the barriers of the Tashin Defense Network would fully regenerate 13 seconds after being destroyed. However, the latest reports from the front lines indicate that the most recent batch of destroyed barriers took over five minutes to fully recover."
"Five minutes?!" Manina was taken aback.
This wasn't just a minor slowdown!
"What's the cause?" he quickly asked.
Cyan Devourer replied, "The exact cause is unclear at the moment. However, based on my analysis, it's likely that the Tashin Defense Network's energy reserves are insufficient, leading the humans of Blue Star to slow down the barrier recovery process."
"Insufficient energy reserves in the defense network?" Manina furrowed his brow, deep in thought.
In the past, if he had learned of such a situation, he would have been overjoyed and personally gone to the front lines to verify it. But now, due to the Morgan incident, he had completely lost interest. Who had the time for this nonsense!
"Is there another possibility?" Manina hypothesized. "Could this be a deliberate trap set by the Blue Star humans—pretending that their defense network's energy reserves are low, slowing down the barrier recovery to lure us into a desperate attack?
"Once we send our forces, they could immediately restore the barriers to their original speed and catch us off guard?"
"..." After a brief analysis, Cyan Devourer responded, "That possibility cannot be ruled out."
Manina waved his hand. "Continue monitoring the situation and notify me once you have a conclusion. Also, inform the main force to send 3,000 drones and 500 mech soldiers to breach the defense network for a probing attack."
"Understood!"
...
Cyan Devourer quickly relayed Manina's orders. Soon, the general in charge of the front lines and the relevant soldiers received the command. Without hesitation, they executed it with precision.
The Skrull main fleet dispatched 3,000 drones as the vanguard, followed by 500 mech soldiers clad in flight mechs, charging toward the breach in the defense network.
These 500 mech soldiers were not particularly powerful on their own, generally ranging from third to fourth tier. Regular soldiers were third tier, squad leaders were fourth tier, and the commander of the entire 500-strong battalion was at the peak of fourth tier, with no one reaching fifth tier.
Based on their individual strengths, they would not normally have the right to participate in a galactic war between two civilizations. They couldn't even fly and would be nothing more than cannon fodder on the ground.
However, they weren't just relying on their personal strength; they had a crucial piece of equipment—flight mechs.
It was the flight mechs that made them mech soldiers. These mechs were far more formidable than their human operators!
The defense module of the flight mechs could generate a 5-centimeter-thick transparent force field shield. Conventional firearms, artillery, and missiles from Blue Star humans couldn't penetrate it even after a day of continuous fire. The shield also provided excellent defense against laser weapons.
The overall defense of the flight mechs was on par with the fourth-tier blue heavy armor worn by Blue Star humans in the Warrior class, effectively countering attacks from practitioners of the same tier.
The attack module of the flight mechs was equally impressive. The left arm was equipped with a Yang Flame Type 3 energy spray-laser hybrid gun, and the right leg had a high-capacity energy module.
With this equipment, the overall strength of a regular soldier was no less than that of a fourth-tier practitioner!
