Chapter 111: Magical Induction Cures Diseases and Saves People
Chapter 111: Magical Sensation, Treating the Sick and Saving Lives
“Lu Qing, brother—what are you doing here?”
“I came to gather herbs from the mountains,” Lu Qing replied. “I didn’t expect to run into you by chance.”
Ever since entering Jin Gu Jing, Lu Qing had received another medicinal bath formula from his master—meant to strengthen his body and aid his cultivation. As a result, he’d been using up quite a bit of herbs lately, even depleting the stash his master had carefully preserved. To replenish his supplies, he’d brought Xiao Li and ventured deep into the mountains.
And now, fate had brought him right to the moment when Ma Gu was being hunted down.
“Looks like I’m lucky after all,” Ma Gu sighed.
“If it weren’t for you coming this way, I wouldn’t have made it out alive. That Leather Armor Youth would’ve caught me for sure.”
“What about you, Ma Ye?” Lu Qing asked. “Why were you being chased? And who exactly are those people?”
From the Abilities Probe, Lu Qing knew both men had come from the same sect—the Tian Cang Sect. But he still didn’t understand why Ma Gu had drawn their ire.
“I don’t know who they are,” Ma Gu said, his expression grim. “And why I’m being hunted… well, that’s a long story.”
With a sigh, he began recounting the events of the past few days.
“Just like that, I was out searching for medicine for The Lady of the Wei Family, when I was spotted by that Leather Armor Youth. They chased me all the way into that valley… and then I ran into you.”
“Wow, Ma Ye,” Lu Qing said, eyeing him with a strange expression. “You’ve had quite the adventure these past couple of days.”
He couldn’t help but notice how terribly unlucky Ma Gu seemed to be—always running into trouble, especially with Wei Xiao Gongzi. Twice now, meeting him had brought nothing but misfortune. And this time, he’d nearly died.
“Don’t tease me, Lu Qing brother,” Ma Gu chuckled nervously. “I’ve already regretted stepping into that forest that day more than once.”
Lu Qing smiled, no longer mocking. Instead, a quiet respect stirred in his heart.
Ma Gu could have abandoned the mother and son. He could have handed them over to save himself. But he didn’t. Even when cornered, he held his silence. True loyalty. A real man.
“By the way, Lu Qing brother,” Ma Gu said, his tone turning earnest. “There’s something I must ask of you. The Lady of the Wei Family is unconscious, her wound infected. She’s fading fast. Could you… please save her?”
The Lady and her son had been rescued at great cost by a small unit of Yin Yue Wei. One of them had nearly died in the process. Ma Gu couldn’t bear the thought of her dying—especially not after all that sacrifice.
Lu Qing fell into deep thought.
Ma Gu said nothing, afraid to press. Lu Qing was powerful, skilled in Medical Arts, and even seemed to command some terrifying, mysterious creature. If he joined, Ma Gu’s chances of saving them would rise dramatically.
Thinking of the creature, Ma Gu glanced around furtively. He hadn’t seen it since they left the last hideout. Was it hiding nearby? Or had it already left?
Lu Qing, however, didn’t notice Ma Gu’s subtle movements. He was weighing whether to get involved in this dangerous affair.
The situation was clear now. The Tian Cang Sect—this sect—was the force behind the recent chaos in the county, targeting the Wei Family. Though he didn’t know their full strength, one thing was certain: a sect with a Xian Tian cultivator in its ranks couldn’t be small. Taking on such a power would be suicide if exposed.
With Xiao Li at his side, Lu Qing wasn’t afraid of Hou Tian-level warriors. But Xian Tian? That was another matter. Even Xiao Li might not stand a chance against such a being.
After a long pause, Lu Qing made his decision.
He’d go.
Earlier, the Wei Family had shielded him from the Black Wolf Gang. He owed them a debt. Now, saving the Lady and her son would be his way of repaying it.
Besides, the Xian Tian cultivator—Wang Cangyi—was likely still in the city, watching the Wei Family’s treasures closely. He wouldn’t leave unless he was certain the family hadn’t moved the items. Otherwise, all his efforts would be wasted.
Of course, that only held true if the news of Tong Cang Lang and Wang Qing Shan’s deaths hadn’t yet reached the city.
If it had… two disciples dead, one of them an adopted son… well, who could say what Wang Cangyi might do? He might go mad.
So if they were to act, they had to move fast—before the news arrived, and before the sect sent reinforcements.
“Alright,” Lu Qing said at last, nodding. “I’ll go with you.”
“Thank you, Lu Qing brother!” Ma Gu’s face lit up with relief. He couldn’t stop thanking him.
No more delays. The two left the cave.
Jin Gu Jing’s healing powers were strong. After Lu Qing treated Ma Gu and applied Golden Wound Medicine, the wound on his shoulder had healed well enough. Only his injured arm remained useless for combat, but he could still walk and move normally.
They prepared to set out immediately for the cave where the Lady and her son were hiding.
But before they left, Lu Qing made a request.
“Ma Gu,” he said, “you point the direction, but I’ll decide the path.”
Ma Gu had no objection. He knew Lu Qing had been into these mountains many times. He’d be far more familiar with the terrain.
Standing at the cave’s entrance, Ma Gu turned to assess the direction. Though he’d fled in panic earlier, he still had a general sense of where he’d gone.
After a moment, he pointed.
Lu Qing stepped forward without hesitation, leading the way. On his shoulder, Xiao Li occasionally gave him subtle hints.
That was why Lu Qing insisted on choosing the route.
Xiao Li possessed a rare, uncanny sense—able to detect living beings from afar. After consuming the Dipulse Spiritual Fluid, this ability had grown even stronger.
Lu Qing had tested it himself: if Xiao Li focused, it could sense every living creature within a one-li radius. It was astonishing.
In open plains, one li might not seem far. But in dense mountains, it was a world apart. The forest was complex—twisting paths, thick undergrowth, places where someone could hide just a few steps away, completely invisible.
A one-li range meant seeing through the veil of concealment—like having divine sight.
As Lu Qing walked, he communicated with Xiao Li, adjusting their course constantly. Sometimes he’d suddenly stop, duck behind a rock, or veer off into the underbrush.
At first, Ma Gu was confused. But then, just as they crouched behind a tree, two powerful warriors passed by only a few steps away.
Ma Gu’s breath caught.
Lu Qing had known they were coming.
He finally understood. Lu Qing wasn’t just walking by instinct—he was being guided by something unseen.
He glanced at Lu Qing’s shoulder. Nothing was there. Yet Lu Qing kept glancing sideways, as if speaking to someone.
He realized then: Lu Qing must be communicating with the mysterious creature that had killed the Nei Fu Jing middle-aged man.
And the creature—was it the one that had sensed the approaching warriors?
What kind of being was it? Capable of hiding completely, yet possessing such terrifying perception?
Ma Gu’s mind buzzed with curiosity. But he knew better than to ask. Lu Qing clearly didn’t want to speak of it. So he bit his tongue, suppressing the urge to question.
Meanwhile, Lu Qing was equally surprised.
They’d only walked a short distance, but Xiao Li had already detected several groups of warriors.
How many had the Tian Cang Sect sent into the mountains?
Or—had they discovered the bodies of Tong Cang Lang and Wang Qing Shan? Were they all converging here?
He couldn’t tell. All he could do was move with caution, guiding Ma Gu step by step.
Thankfully, once they passed through the dense forest, Xiao Li’s senses picked up no more warriors.
Their pace could now increase.
With Xiao Li’s supernatural perception guiding them, Lu Qing and Ma Gu finally reached the mountain where the Lady and her son were hiding—without incident.
“Ahead is a hidden cave,” Ma Gu said, pointing. “The Lady and Young Master An are inside.”
Lu Qing nodded. Xiao Li had already alerted him—someone was inside.
Ma Gu checked the small trap he’d set at the entrance earlier that morning. It hadn’t been triggered.
Good. No one had found the cave during his chase.
And the Young Master had stayed put—obedient, as promised.
Ma Gu stepped into the cave first. Just as he reached the entrance, a wooden stick shot out from within, aimed straight at his head.
He dodged sideways. “Young Master An, it’s me!”
“Ma Gu? You’re back?” came the surprised voice from inside. A moment later, Wei Xiao Gongzi emerged, still gripping the same stick he’d used to attack.
“Did you find the herbs? No—wait, you’re hurt!” The boy’s expression changed instantly upon seeing the blood on Ma Gu’s shoulder and the arm hanging uselessly.
“Just got caught by those guys. Barely made it out alive. If it weren’t for Lu Qing brother, I wouldn’t be here to see you.”
“Lu Qing brother?” Wei Xiao Gongzi frowned, finally noticing the man standing nearby.
His eyes widened. “I know you… you’re the one—”
He couldn’t place the name.
“This is Lu Qing brother,” Ma Gu said. “Chen Laodaifu’s disciple. You should recognize him.”
“Right!” Wei Xiao Gongzi’s face lit up. “You’re the one who brought me medicine every day!”
He remembered now. When he’d been critically injured and recovering at Chen Laodaifu’s clinic, Lu Qing had been the one who brought his medicine daily—quiet, unassuming, rarely speaking. He’d only appeared when delivering the medicine, never lingering.
So though he recognized Lu Qing’s face, they’d never truly met.
“Greetings, Young Master An,” Lu Qing said with a calm smile. “I never expected to meet you again, deep in these mountains.”
“What are you doing here?” Wei Xiao Gongzi asked, stunned.
“Young Master An,” Ma Gu explained, “Lu Qing is Chen Laodaifu’s most promising disciple. He’s skilled in Medical Arts. I met him by chance in the mountains and brought him here to treat The Lady of the Wei Family.”
“Oh—so you’re Chen Laodaifu’s disciple?” Wei Xiao Gongzi realized, his voice rising in panic. “Lu Qing, please—save my mother! I just checked on her. Her head is burning even hotter, and she’s muttering deliriously. She’s in terrible shape!”
The moment he mentioned his mother, Wei Xiao Gongzi forgot everything else—his curiosity, his confusion. All he could think of was pleading.
“Ah… that serious?” Lu Qing’s expression darkened.
The three entered the cave. Ma Gu stayed at the entrance, guarding and keeping watch.
Lu Qing followed Wei Xiao Gongzi deeper into the cave, to where the Lady lay.
The moment he saw her, his brow furrowed.
She lay on her side, her body cushioned by leaves and grass to keep her off the cold ground. The side not pressed against the ground was wrapped in white cloth, stained with fresh blood. The wound was clearly not healing.
Her face was pale, her forehead beaded with sweat.
Lu Qing knew she was at her limit.
He stepped forward and took her pulse. His frown deepened.
Immediately, he activated his Abilities.
A faint, pale light—tinged with gray—flared from her body.
【Li Ningyan: Wife of Wei Xinghe, mother of Wei Zi’an, mistress of the Wei Family. Gentle in demeanor, but strong-willed and kind-hearted.】
【Wounded in the waist and abdomen by blade and sword. Massive blood loss. Poor treatment led to severe infection. Body weakened from both external trauma and internal illness. On the verge of death.】
Lu Qing’s expression hardened.
He hadn’t expected her condition to be this dire.
If he’d arrived even half an hour later… she might have already passed.
Even now, the situation was extremely critical.
“Lu Qing, little doctor,” Wei Xiao Gongzi said, voice trembling. “How is my mother?”
“Young Master An,” Lu Qing replied honestly, “her condition is very serious. The wound wasn’t treated properly. The injury became infected by external evil qi. Combined with constant travel and exhaustion, her body is suffering from both internal and external collapse. She’s at the brink.”
“What can we do?” Wei Xiao Gongzi cried, clutching Lu Qing’s sleeve. “Please, Lu Qing, I beg you—save my mother! Whatever it takes, I’ll pay you anything!”
“Young Master An, please,” Lu Qing said gently. “Saving lives is our duty as healers. I’ll do everything I can.”
After calming the boy, Lu Qing fell silent, thinking.
The Lady’s condition was beyond ordinary medicine.
Only one remedy remained.
The one he’d prepared earlier.
