Chapter 111: Feng Ye's Assessment of the Situation
Chapter 111: Feng Ye's Assessment of the Situation
Soon, Feng Ye and Shizune returned to their residence.
A masked ninja stood before Tsunade, his gaze shifting to Feng Ye as he entered. "Feng Ye, the Hokage has issued an order for you to accompany Tsunade-sama to the front lines of the Lightning Country's border."
Feng Ye turned to Tsunade and asked, "What do you think, Tsunade-sensei?"
Tsunade took a sip of her tea and then poured herself another cup, drinking slowly.
The room fell silent. Neither Shizune nor the ANBU ninja spoke until, after two cups of tea, Tsunade set her cup down and stood up, taking a deep breath. "I never expected the three great ninja villages to unite and create such an unprecedentedly dire situation. Even if we wanted to stay out of it, it seems we can't."
She had no interest in war, but that didn't mean she could sit idly by while the three villages invaded Fire Country, disrupting her peaceful life and her gambling habits.
Only during times of peace could she be a renowned medical ninja, treating difficult cases and earning large sums, which she would then spend freely at the casino.
"Then, I'll leave the Cloud Ninja Village to you," Tsunade said, turning to Feng Ye and Shizune. "Feng Ye, Shizune, pack your things. We leave immediately!"
"Then I won't disturb you further." The ANBU ninja bowed to Tsunade and, with a swift use of the Body Flicker Technique, vanished in a puff of smoke.
Tsunade stared at the spot where the ANBU ninja had disappeared, deep in thought.
"Are you worried about the war, Sensei?" Feng Ye asked, walking over to Tsunade.
Tsunade glanced at Feng Ye, her eyes grave as she nodded. "The ambush from the Mist Village was expected, but I never anticipated the Rock and Cloud Villages would join forces. This situation may turn out to be extremely dire... I really meant it when I said the last time at the Wind Country's battlefield was going to be my last."
The situation was dire indeed. Even before reaching the front lines, she felt a deep sense of foreboding.
Orochimaru should be dealing with the Rock Ninja in Grass Country, but he alone might not be able to withstand their assault. At the very least, either Jiraiya or Danzo would need to go support him.
If Danzo were to go, then Jiraiya would undoubtedly have to face the Mist Ninjas, but even he might not be able to handle them alone, and Minato would have to step in.
That would leave only the Cloud Ninjas.
Although her own combat prowess had recovered and Feng Ye's strength was also exceptional, it was uncertain if they could withstand the Cloud Ninjas' attack. There was significant danger on all fronts.
If the three great ninja villages went all out, even deploying their tailed beasts and jinchuriki, the situation Konoha faced would be even more grim!
However, fretting about it was pointless.
They must hurry to the battlefield.
"There's no need to be too concerned," Feng Ye said thoughtfully. "Although the three ninja villages have joined forces, do you think they can truly set aside their differences and launch an all-out offensive with their hearts as one? It's unlikely. Even if they manage to restrain their urges to backstab each other, they'll still opt for the most conservative battle strategies, hoping that the other villages will weaken us first."
Hearing Feng Ye's analysis, Tsunade gave him a surprised look. She had known he was powerful, but she hadn't expected him to possess such keen insight into the dynamics of war.
He had hit the nail on the head.
Tsunade sighed inwardly. If only Feng Ye were her younger brother. Despite their similar ages, his talent, strength, and ability to assess situations far surpassed those of many adult ninjas. His gifts in every aspect were nearly flawless, and even at such a young age, she could already see the makings of a future Hokage.
Tsunade gave Feng Ye a curious look.
Feeling a bit uncomfortable under her intense gaze, Feng Ye said helplessly, "What are you looking at me like that for? Is there a problem with my judgment?"
"No," Tsunade shook her head. "Your judgment is spot on. It's just..."
She stared at Feng Ye for a moment before asking, "The soul inside your body right now isn't that of Orochimaru, is it?"
The previous insight was one thing, but this latter deduction was something even she hadn't anticipated. Feng Ye had already made the inference, and in her opinion, it was highly likely to be true. If she were in the Hokage's position, she would have made the same decision after much deliberation.
"Huh?" Feng Ye's head was filled with question marks as he said helplessly, "I'm not one of Orochimaru-sensei's clones... and this kind of judgment is something that any normal person could come up with pretty quickly."
Tsunade gave Feng Ye a peculiar look. From his expression, he didn't seem to be pretending, and she really wanted to ask, 'Do you have some misunderstanding of what a normal person is?'
In fact, Feng Ye did have a misunderstanding about what constituted a "normal person."
From his perspective, he essentially had a clear grasp of the entire history of the Naruto world, and he was intimately familiar with the actions of the various ninja villages during the Third Great Ninja War. This naturally led him to approach problems from a big-picture perspective.
However, in reality, it was quite challenging for an ordinary ninja to achieve this level of insight. Only exceptionally talented ninjas like Minato Namikaze or leaders standing at the pinnacle of their respective villages, such as Hiruzen Sarutobi or Danzo, would possess such a broad perspective.
While Feng Ye found it easy to deduce the situation, even a ninja as skilled as Tsunade would need time to carefully think through and arrive at the same conclusions.
"Lady Tsunade, I've finished packing everything," Shizune's voice interrupted their moment.
She had efficiently gathered the necessary items and placed them on the floor in the center of the room.
"Let's go," Tsunade said, giving Feng Ye's shoulder a gentle pat before heading toward the door.
Feng Ye had repeatedly surprised her with new insights, and this time was no exception. She realized that he possessed an exceptional ability to see the big picture and make astute judgments—talents that even she might not surpass.
Watching Tsunade's retreating figure, Feng Ye wore a thoughtful expression. He gradually came to realize that there was a significant difference between his "normal perspective" and that of the ninjas in this world.
But it didn't matter.
With his current strength, he wasn't worried about revealing his extraordinary talents, especially not in front of Tsunade.
