Chapter 1109: I Really Will Strike
Chapter 1109: I Really Will Strike
If no solution can be found, kill them!
Kuro admitted he was soft-hearted, but he never hesitated to act.
Hesitation meant certain defeat.
Moer understood Kuro's mindset after hearing his words. He shrugged and remained silent.
At present, there truly was no better solution.
Seawater was useless, and attacks on Brant had no effect. This thing was just a conscious phantom image—lacking offensive capabilities and resisting any external assault.
Kuro's bindings weren't permanent, but these people wouldn't last long enough to matter. How long could they hold out? One day? Two? Maybe three?
They'd starve to death before then.
As for eating, who could even think about food in this situation? If they went without food for a few days, they might even turn to cannibalism.
Feeding ten thousand survivors on this island? Kuro alone couldn't cover the costs. There were no proper logistics systems either. If someone bit off a finger while distributing meals, whose fault would that be?
As for the kingdom—
"Klah, contact the Royal Family of Dominica and ask if they'd like to send personnel to organize logistics. Inquire about details. If they're willing to send people to feed these survivors, I'm fine with dragging this out."
As long as no mutual slaughter erupted, the old fox couldn't act freely.
If the situation demanded it, Kuro was willing to wait.
But Klah shook his head immediately. "Admiral Kuro, on our way here I already contacted the Kingdom of Dominica. They know about the island. Presumably guessing that a world noble died here, they've abandoned the island entirely, recognizing its independence and restoring its former name of Kemorike. In other words, this place no longer concerns Dominica."
Kuro: "..."
"What impressive buck-passing skills! Selling off ancestral lands without a second thought. Abandoning it so easily—why did they bother conquering it with such effort back then? Tch, nobility."
Kuro scoffed disdainfully. "Fine, we won't rely on them anymore."
Dominica Kingdom wanted to avoid responsibility by cutting their losses—meaning no one could be counted on.
"Admiral Kuro, perhaps we should seek support from above?"
Before Klah finished speaking, Kuro shot him a glare. "Did you swallow seawater? You forgot how I got here in the first place?"
"Up above"—which "up above"?
Kuro had been dispatched directly by the World Government. Did they expect the World Government to reverse its decision? He hadn't even reported the news about the world noble's death yet. If he did, he wouldn't survive two hours before being ordered to initiate cleansing operations.
Glancing at Brant, who remained motionless in the air, Kuro activated his wrist transponder snail and dialed a number.
Soon the transponder snail's screen displayed a normal face. "Admiral Kuro?"
"Is Gramps there? Connect me." Kuro requested.
He never called Gramps directly—such calls rarely went through. It was better to have someone locate Gramps in person.
"Yes, I'll connect you immediately!"
The navy officer answered hastily. After a series of footsteps, the screen flickered and changed to a face with a pouting mouth.
"Oh~ Kuro, looking for Old Man?"
"Borsalino!!!"
Hearing the voice, Brant suddenly roared like a triggered mechanism. He snarled at the transponder snail, claws flailing as if charging forward.
Kuro frowned, his body shooting skyward in an instant.
Below, Brant reached toward the heavens with a gruesome expression. "Borsalino! I'll take my revenge! Borsalino!!!"
Yet no matter how hard he struggled, only half his body emerged from the ground.
Kuro clicked his tongue. "Like some damned ghost bound to this place."
"Oh~ Someone's shouting Old Man's name? Sounds quite angry. Scary, isn't it?" Lucius Kro's voice came through the transponder snail, his lips still pouting.
"Yeah, the mess you made back then, Gramps. Do you remember Harold Kim Brandt?" Kuro asked.
"Brant?"
Lucius Kro pondered briefly. "Mm, the name sounds familiar."
"Back then in the Kingdom of Dominica—actually on Kemorike Island—you captured a pirate." Kuro reminded him.
"Oh~ Old Man remembers now. That pirate who robbed a world noble and earned a three-hundred-million bounty." Lucius Kro suddenly recalled. "Yes, definitely that person. He escaped too? Old Man had quite an impression of him. A shame though—he robbed a world noble."
"Got it. What are you doing now, Gramps?"
"Old Man is preparing to go fishing. Planning to investigate various locations for opening kindergartens."
"Fishing? Be careful not to return empty-handed."
Kuro muttered, watching Brant flailing grotesquely below as he shouted:
"Borsalino! I've come for my revenge!!!"
"Oh~ So scary. Someone seeking revenge against Old Man? That Brant fellow? Mm, back in those days, Old Man had no choice in the matter."
"I understand. Don't worry, Gramps—I can handle this."
Kuro hung up, silently puffing his cigar as smoke curled around his face, drifting upward.
He could roughly guess the truth now.
But differing positions meant different actions.
Back then, Brant might have robbed the world noble out of desperation. Kuro, however, wouldn't stand in the pirate's shoes. As a navy officer, his duty had never been to protect pirates' interests.
"Ten thousand people..."
Kuro swept his gaze over the densely packed crowd bound below him, murmuring, "If you truly refuse to surrender, I really will strike."
Two hours—was that a long time? It all depended on the circumstances.
For someone idle, two hours might feel endless.
But for someone occupied, especially with urgent matters at hand, two hours could pass in a flash.
Kuro himself wasn't in a rush, but even he knew two hours could vanish in an instant.
At this moment, in the sea area behind them, the silhouettes of eight capital warships had already appeared on the horizon, slowly approaching.
Kuro didn't attack immediately. Instead, he ordered Klah, "Let them approach first."
"Understood."
Klah nodded and made a call.
Soon the warships docked, and from among the eight, four vice admirals disembarked.
Kas, Wilbur, Borsalino, and Doflamingo!
Why four? Because Lida didn't count.
Kuro had given the Pacifista configuration to Klah—Lida was just along for the ride.
"Admiral Kuro!"
Kas and Wilbur stepped forward first, saluting sharply beside Kuro.
"Admiral Kuro."
Doflamingo and Borsalino also saluted, their expressions solemn.
With changed status came changed titles and attitudes.
"Oh, it's you two."
Kuro nodded, then curiously asked Kas, "But why are you here? Weren't you in Dressrosa?"
