Chapter 1108: Changing Morgen's Mind
Chapter 1108: Changing Morgen's Mind
Alice smiled and said, "This green-skinned one is right. This is the best opportunity we have right now. Lord Drak hasn't finished his battle with Emperor Xin yet. He needs our help more than ever. If we don't join him now, once he defeats Emperor Xin, he won't accept any more surrenders. By then, anyone who hasn't surrendered will face certain death!"
When Alice said the term "green-skinned one," a flicker of displeasure crossed Plaut and Manina's faces.
They truly hated that term. "Green-skinned one" was a vile and derogatory name given to them by the lofty Saint-Silver people, a clear sign of their contempt.
However, they couldn't let it show. They couldn't afford to fall out with Alice over a mere name. Both of them had deep reserves of patience, and the displeasure on their faces vanished as quickly as it had appeared.
Morgen, being a "green-skinned one," was also deeply offended by the term. He could sense the anger in Plaut and the Ancestor, but he couldn't openly show his dissatisfaction. After all, Alice was his teacher, and he had to keep his feelings to himself.
"Teacher," Morgen thought for a moment before speaking, "I've already agreed to join the Dark Energy Rebellion, but this is such a sudden and significant decision that I need time to think it over. I need to change my mindset to fully commit."
"Don't worry, I'll give you all the time you need," Alice replied, slightly turning to look at Plaut and Manina. "Why don't you two go and take care of your business? I'll stay and spend some time with my student."
"Alright."
Plaut and Manina didn't argue. Plaut walked over to Morgen's side and, along with Manina, offered a few words of encouragement before leaving together.
...
Once Plaut and Manina were gone, the tense atmosphere in the underground meeting room eased somewhat. Morgen slumped himself heavily into the sofa, feeling the tension in his body finally start to release.
Lying on the sofa, Morgen realized his back was drenched in sweat, the moisture sticking his spine and clothes together.
But he had no mind to worry about his physical discomfort. His thoughts were still a chaotic mess.
To be honest, he never imagined his thoughts would be so disordered, unable to find any coherent thread.
Alice remained as she was, a faint smile on her face. She looked at her still-shaken student and took a small bottle of pale green liquid from her spatial ring, sipping it slowly.
Alice wasn't in a hurry at all.
What she needed to do most was to change Morgen's mindset. Morgen, the future leader of the Skrull people (not yet, but he would be once he took his father's throne), was crucial to Lord Drak's entire plan. She needed to watch over him carefully to ensure nothing went wrong.
Morgen lay on the sofa for a long while. After an indeterminate amount of time, he turned his head to look at Alice and asked in a hoarse voice, "Teacher, when did you join the Dark Energy Rebellion?"
He had followed Alice for decades, and only now did he realize his teacher had such a deep background.
Alice didn't plan to hide it from him.
She recalled for a moment and answered, "About 200 years ago, I think. I can't remember the exact year, but it's been a long time."
"200 years?" Morgen was taken aback once more.
