Chapter 1102: You're Kuro, I'm Also Kuro!
Chapter 1102: You're Kuro, I'm Also Kuro!
William never imagined that even in his steam giant form, someone could break through his defenses so easily and drag him out of his Logia state.
That Haki-imbued hand clamped down like a vice, gripping his face with searing pain.
Fury surged through William. That Sazil was one thing, but now some random stranger dared attack him too? Did they really think his status as a Seven Warlords of the Sea meant nothing?
"You bastard!"
William roared, his head dispersing into steam between Moer's fingers as he jetted backward, reforming into a massive steam sword that slashed toward Moer's body.
"Ahhh, so hot!"
Moer recoiled, springing upward to dodge the scalding strike. As the blade missed, its tip erupted into a steaming head that glared crimson at Moer, shouting, "Navy again? You Navy bastards just won't learn! I'm a Seven Warlords of the Sea—don’t you know who I am? I’m a Great Pirate!!"
The blade solidified into William’s full form. Planting his feet, he raised one arm—steam swirling around his fist—as he prepared to smash downward. "Steam Exploding—!"
Before he could finish the technique’s name or bring down his arm, Sazil suddenly sprang upright, delivering a punch straight into William’s chest.
The blow tore a hole through William’s body. Glaring crimson-eyed at Sazil, he snarled, "You again! Are you asking for death?!"
Sazil’s eyes burned with the same crimson fury, his face already a grotesque mess. "Don’t underestimate me! This is my chance to make my name! Defeating a Seven Warlords of the Sea will put me on the map!"
"Die!"
William swung his arm, unleashing a blast of superheated steam. Sazil crossed his arms—when the steam neared, a shockwave of repulsive force deflected it. He then leapt backward, creating distance.
Moer had just landed when he frowned, staring at Sazil’s mutilated form. Something felt off. "Sazil?"
"Shut up! Call me Kuro! You’re just a commander!"
Sazil spat at Moer, then grinned viciously. "You’re dead meat too! Just wait until I finish this Seven Warlords of the Sea—then I’ll kill you myself and prove who deserves respect!"
"Caught in some ability?"
Moer scratched his head, eyeing Sazil’s crimson gaze. "This complicates things. But since I’m your big brother, I’ll rescue you first. If the real Kuro hears about this, you’ll be getting a beating worse than this. And you too, William."
Before he could finish, Moer’s expression shifted—then he vanished in a flash of white light.
Where he’d stood, the ground had turned purplish-black, jagged shadowy spikes erupting upward.
"This thing?"
Reappearing on a dockside anchor point, Moer landed lightly, surveying the carnage ahead—people being slaughtered indiscriminately. "So this artifact’s the cause? Did it affect you all too? But…"
Red targeting markers flickered in his eyes. "Strange. Can’t detect the aura—too much interference."
"You’re the one under abnormal effects?!"
William had been about to strike Sazil again but halted, eyes widening as he heard Moer. His arm reformed into steam, ready to slash downward.
Swoosh!
In that instant, a golden slash tore from the sky, cleaving William in half. The strike slammed into the ground, carving long fissures and sending shockwaves rippling outward.
"I told you—this won’t work on Logia!"
William’s severed halves recombined instantly. Glaring upward, he bellowed, "Who’s next?! Since when did the Seven Warlords of the Sea become the Navy’s favorite punching bag?!"
His words died in his throat.
In the sky, a golden figure hovered, radiating light beneath the sun.
Though his face was obscured, William recognized him immediately. The moment he did, his crimson eyes dimmed slightly—only to blaze crimson again.
"What’s so special about you?!"
William roared, finger jabbing skyward. "Don’t think I’m scared! I’ve never feared you!"
"Hahahaha! Golden! Golden!!"
From the bell tower of the port city, the figure’s laughter boomed.
"Lucius Kro! Borsalino! Only he shines golden! Finally here, huh? Hehehe… Let’s see, William. Will you escape this hellish vortex?!"
Kuro’s gloomy face darkened further as he flew toward the chaos. When Moer had moved, he’d followed—but the scene below defied his expectations.
Not a rebellion. Not a Navy massacre. Just endless, indiscriminate slaughter—ally and enemy indistinguishable. His subordinates clashed with the Seven Warlords of the Sea, while Navy corpses littered the ground, some barely alive but radiating chaotic auras.
"What a mess", Kuro muttered, cigar clenched in his teeth.
"Kuro! Kuro!!"
Sazil’s scream cut through the air.
Eyes crimson, fists clenched, he exuded pure battle-lust and hatred. "You're Kuro! I'm Kuro too! Today I’ll prove my name—I’m just as much Kuro as you!"
"Hm?"
Kuro glanced down, descending slowly. Before landing, he paused, studying the ground. A sharp click of his tongue escaped. "Something’s wrong. Moer?"
"Earlier, a shadow tried ambushing me. Their anomaly must’ve triggered this madness", Moer replied from behind. "This complicates things."
"Tch. Didn’t you notice?" Kuro shot him a look.
Moer shook his head. "Difficult to detect. Some ability’s masking it."
"This ability…"
Kuro glared at the bloody meat grinder ahead, his expression souring. "Damn it!"
This chaos screamed of a Devil Fruit user’s interference—the worst kind.
This was Kuro’s greatest headache: Grand Line’s treacherous Devil Fruit users.
You never knew what powers lurked—rubber could wield lightning and fire, turning ordinary Paramecia into absurdity. What other horrors could these users conjure?
Compared to that, Zoan users felt almost cute. Almost—until they transformed into mythical beasts capable of apocalyptic destruction.
