Chapter 1101: If Worse Comes to Worst, Move the Island Away
Chapter 1101: If Worse Comes to Worst, Move the Island Away
After confirming no direct line was active, Klah placed the microphone onto the Transponder Snail and spoke:
"Mr. Kuro, shall we head there directly? The other Vice Admirals haven’t arrived yet for concentration."
Of course, the other Vice Admirals couldn’t be as fast as Kuro’s group. In his eagerness, Kuro had bypassed Mariejois’ formal procedures entirely, activating his ability to fly both warships directly over Mariejois to the Grand Line without delay.
He intended to report the situation before the other Vice Admirals arrived to discuss their next move. Since he had the rights to freely move within Mariejois, there was no need to file notice—which he’d never bothered with anyway.
"Let’s go first and assess the situation. Klah, did you find detailed information on Dominica?" Kuro asked.
Klah nodded. "Yes. Dominica Kingdom is an archipelago kingdom divided into five islands. Though classified as an archipelago nation, the distances between islands are surprisingly short. Two islands are practically joined by a narrow strait, forming the main island. There’s also a secondary island and a smaller one between the main and secondary islands. Farther north lies the island named Dominica."
"Over twenty years ago, this northern island wasn’t called Dominica yet. At that time, five nations coexisted within the archipelago. The northern island, then known as Dominica, launched a war that unified the remaining islands, creating the Dominica Kingdom."
As he spoke, Klah spread a map showing the island distribution. "When they unified, they weren’t yet a World Government member state. To solidify their status, they joined the World Government."
Kuro nodded. "Clever move. The World Government would’ve supported their consolidation. Anything else?"
"There’s one incident", Klah continued. "Twenty years ago, when Dominica first joined the World Government, unification wasn’t complete. Resistance lingered on this secondary island—"
He pointed to the secondary island on the map. "Then named Komerique, it was the last stronghold of resistance. To defend themselves, they resorted to extreme measures, even encouraging commoners to become pirates and plunder passing ships for supplies."
"Pirates?" Kuro narrowed his eyes while biting his cigar. "That’s absurd! If pirates existed there, we should’ve intervened."
"Exactly. Then-Vice Admiral Lucius Kro—no, Vice Admiral Borsalino—received orders from the World Government to proceed there. The catalyst wasn’t the pirates but a World Noble traveling through the region. Vice Admiral Borsalino arrested the pirates, cutting off the resistance’s logistics, which led to Komerique Kingdom’s conquest by Dominica."
Klah paused. "That World Noble was Pollier—the same one involved in this current incident."
"That doesn’t add up!" Kuro scoffed. "If a World Noble was ambushed, an Admiral or Pacifista should’ve been deployed, not just a Vice Admiral."
He clicked his tongue. "More likely, that bastard World Noble provoked them deliberately. Borsalino was sent to eliminate the pirates, which conveniently crushed the resistance."
World Nobles only warranted Admirals if attacked. But if a World Noble instigated violence, a mere Vice Admiral sufficed. Kuro knew their nature all too well—bored, arrogant, and willing to eradicate anything they deemed inconvenient. The resulting collateral damage was inevitable.
Rubbing his temples, Kuro sighed. "These bastards never learn. If they did, they wouldn’t be World Nobles in the first place."
Decades hadn’t changed them. Such beings required a traumatic event to alter their ways—a total transformation like the Donquixote Family’s downfall.
"Mr. Kuro", Klah interjected cautiously. "With all due respect, even if we arrive now, that World Noble—" He hesitated.
The world’s hatred toward World Nobles ran deep. If this Pollier was isolated, the locals would seize the chance. He probably wouldn’t survive.
Even if the Navy moved swiftly, they’d only respond after receiving news. Sazil was already there, yet his silence suggested trouble. Supporting forces wouldn’t arrive in time.
How long did it take to kill a man? Especially a powerless World Noble. A single weapon would suffice.
Once a World Noble dies, Pacifistas must be deployed—that was the rule Kuro couldn’t override. The Dominica Kingdom would inevitably vanish.
"I know", Kuro waved dismissively. "But we can’t let it escalate. How many lives would that cost? Find the main culprit, pin the blame on a few accomplices, let the rest retreat. If necessary, I’ll do it myself—just move the island away."
As he spoke, Klah suddenly stiffened, his eyes flashing red—a sign of Observation Haki.
"Airship, stop!" he barked.
"The blood stench is overwhelming!" Klah exclaimed.
As a werewolf, his senses were sharp to blood. Their proximity to Dominica made the scent more urgent.
Kuro’s eyes also flared crimson. "More than blood… the air itself feels wrong! Damn you, Sazil! Moer!!"
His roar echoed beyond the office. Outside on the deck, Moer placed a hand on his forehead, scanning. "He’s gone too far! People are still down there, Sazil! Have you lost your mind?"
With a flash of white light, he vanished.
Above Dominica’s skies, Sazil cackled, hands raised to contain a massive air bubble. Below, a steam-powered colossus radiated scorching heat, warping the air. Nearby, civilians and soldiers slaughtered each other indiscriminately.
"See my power!"
The steam colossus swung its blade toward Sazil, who prepared to crush it with his air bubble. The shockwave alone would annihilate the ground. But Sazil no longer cared—he only wanted to vent his rage.
"Die!!"
With a gruesome roar, he thrust downward as the steam blade neared.
At that instant, a streak of white light pierced the blade’s edge.
Boom!!!
Half the blade exploded into vaporized mist. A giant hand seized Sazil’s face. Another flash, and both he and the air bubble vanished, detonating mid-air in a shockwave.
White light flickered again, appearing before the steam colossus. A hole tore through its chest, and in moments, it disintegrated.
On the ground, Moer gripped Sazil and William’s heads, slamming them into the earth.
Smiling sweetly, he said, "My, my! Didn’t expect to find you two fighting! Was it really necessary?"
To Kuro, Moer was formidable—capable of surpassing Lida if unleashed. He was simply… lazy.
