Chapter 110: Increased Bounty! Sky-Pointing Record Finger! (4k)
Chapter 110: Increased Bounty! Sky-Pointing Record Finger! (4k)
A few days later.
At the Marine Headquarters.
Major Brannew of the Marine Headquarters, known internally as the 'Meeting King,' stood in front of a conference room, addressing a group of solemn-faced marines. "Ever since they entered the Grand Line, the Navy has discovered their presence in Alabasta and confirmed their connection to the rebellion there. These individuals are becoming increasingly dangerous and need to be eradicated as soon as possible!"
Slap! He slapped the whiteboard next to him, on which there were two wanted posters. "After our evaluation, the captain of the 'Straw Hat Crew,' Monkey D. Luffy, has a bounty of one hundred million berries."
"Roronoa Zoro, who single-handedly defeated a hundred bounty hunters at Whisky Peak and also defeated Daz Bones in Alabasta, has a bounty of sixty million berries."
The row of marine officers on either side, chewing on cigars with their arms crossed, remained silent as if waiting for Brannew to continue.
Brannew took down the two wanted posters and put up several more. As the marines looked at these new posters, their eyes sharpened.
Brannew glanced at the top-most wanted poster and said, "Ever since entering the Grand Line, they have sunk three Navy cruise ships. Later, they went to Alabasta and conspired with the former Warlord of the Sea, Crocodile, to seize control of the country. After their plan failed, Crocodile was arrested by the Navy, but he managed to escape unscathed and raided Alabasta's royal capital and the city of 'Yudao.'"
"Furthermore, he conspired with Crocodile to use bombs during the civil war in Alabasta, destroying the royal palace and nearly one-fifth of the city's buildings. According to estimates, the number of soldiers injured or killed in the explosions is around fifty thousand!"
"From the beginning, this guy has had his sights set on the king. He is not only dangerous but also possesses considerable strength. In the port city of Rohara, he consecutively defeated Colonel Smoker and the second squad captain of the Whitebeard Pirates, Portgas D. Ace."
"The pirates under his command are also becoming increasingly rampant. Colonel Tina encountered some of his crew members in Alabasta but failed to arrest them and was severely injured instead. According to intelligence, quite a few members of his crew have mastered the Six Styles!"
This superhuman martial art requires inhumane training to master. Possessing this power means they cannot be treated as petty pirates.
And now, they are far from petty pirates.
"On top of repeatedly destroying countries and plundering royalty, they are already the worst generation! We must stop them as soon as possible to prevent them from becoming even more powerful!"
Bang! Brannew slammed his hand on the whiteboard, and seven wanted posters appeared on it.
The bottom three, from left to right, were Akainu, Aokiji, and Kizaru, with bounties of thirty-five million, twenty million, and eleven million, respectively.
The top three, from left to right, were Lily, Marika, and Reneetie, with bounties of eighty-six million, eighty million, and sixty-five million, respectively.
The marine officers were very familiar with the wanted poster at the very top. After all, since entering the Grand Line, the incredibly high bounty had already drawn their attention. And after conspiring with Crocodile to destroy a country, this bounty couldn't possibly remain low.
"Natural Disaster, Norton Sage. Bounty: four hundred million, two hundred thousand berries!"
As Brannew shouted, in the office at the top of the Marine Headquarters' tallest building, Sengoku, wearing glasses, looked at Sage's wanted poster and said solemnly, "He's becoming more and more dangerous! Good job, Garp!"
"Puahahaha! That bounty is too high!"
Garp, sitting on a sofa next to him and eating a doughnut, laughed heartily.
"No, it's not too high. You don't know what this guy has done," Sengoku shook his head and glanced at Garp. "Your grandson defeated Crocodile, but we can't publicly announce that because we have to consider the World Government's face. Due to the rebellion, his bounty was raised to one hundred million, but even so, he can't threaten the World Government."
"The one who poses a real threat is this guy!"
He picked up Sage's wanted poster and said, "According to intelligence, Nico Robin was also in Alabasta and disappeared after contacting him. As a fellow survivor of Ohara, he stole the historical texts buried deep within Alabasta's royal mausoleum. What is he trying to do?!"
Garp's hearty laughter froze as he looked at the doughnut in his hand and said, "Pluto?"
As high-ranking Navy officials, they were also aware that Crocodile knew about the existence of Pluto in Alabasta.
But it was just information, and it had nothing to do with them.
If it weren't for the Navy's intervention and Cobra's testimony, they wouldn't have known that the historical texts were buried in the royal mausoleum.
"But now it's been snatched away by a survivor of Ohara!"
The mere thought of it made Sengoku's head ache.
"Karp! You deal with what you've done!"
Sengoku glared at Garp and shouted, "We can't let him continue on like this. That dangerous man will only bring more chaos to the New World once he enters it!"
"Puahahaha! The New World has always been chaotic." Karp burst into laughter.
"Karp!!!"
"Alright, alright."
Karp finished the donut in his hand, stood up, and started walking towards the door. "If I come across him again, I'll bring him back!"
After watching Karp leave, Sengoku sighed and looked at the reckless and unrestrained photo on the wanted poster, muttering, "Natural Disaster..."
...
A few days later.
On the calm and peaceful sea, the Dead Star sailed along the ocean surface. On its deck, Akainu was training with his men while Sakage, wearing sunglasses and no shirt, lay on a recliner, basking in the sun.
It was a rare day of clear skies and pleasant weather.
"Sakage."
Marika brought over a cup of specially prepared wine and approached Sakage.
Sakage raised his hand to take the wine and casually lifted his sunglasses to glance at her.
Perhaps due to the pleasant weather, Marika was dressed quite coolly today. She wore a white strappy shirt that exposed her smooth shoulders and navel, accentuating her ample chest. Her lower body was covered only by a pair of hot pants, revealing her slightly fleshy thighs, which seemed to glow in the sunlight.
"I caught one!"
Reneetie, standing on the ship's railing and wearing something resembling a swimsuit with a skirt, held a fishing rod and pulled up a fish as long as she was tall.
"Sakage! Sakage! I caught a fish!" She turned around excitedly and called out to Sakage.
"Shut up!"
Sakage's temple twitched, and he shouted back.
The fishing rod had originally belonged to him, but after fishing for half a day without catching anything, he had given it to Reneetie. And now, in just a short while, she had caught a fish.
"Great job, Reneetie. Come and have a drink." Marika smiled from the side.
"Okay!"
Reneetie jumped down from the railing, leaving the fish on the deck for someone else to deal with.
It had been about ten days since they left Alabasta. During this time, they had passed by two islands—one was a deserted island, and the other had a small town, but it was too insignificant for Sakage to bother plundering. They had only stopped to purchase supplies and waited for the Record Finger to accumulate enough magnetic force before continuing on their journey.
That town didn't even have any dancers or anyone willing to join their pirate crew.
"There's too much we need to replenish. I need to build my singing and dancing troupe, recruit people to wait on me, and also find a doctor for the crew."
Sakage sat up halfway and quickly finished half the glass of wine before placing it on the small table next to the chair.
"At this time, we should be entering the New World as soon as possible, Sakage. Your bounty... seems a bit too high." Marika said.
A couple of days ago, they had encountered a newspaper bird and bought a copy of the newspaper, discovering their updated bounties.
It was not surprising that their bounties had increased to this level.
Although their battle in Alabasta had been temporarily interrupted, Marika had clearly had the upper hand during her fight with Tina. It was only expected that their bounties would increase.
Moreover, they had plundered a royal capital and a prosperous city, and with Crocodile's defeat, they had to bear half the blame for conspiring to usurp the country.
Naturally, the bounties of those who had participated in the plunder would also rise.
The bounties of the three women fell within a normal range.
Only Sakage's bounty seemed unusually high to the others.
"It's normal. There's inflation these days; all sorts of cats and dogs have bounties of over a hundred million. It's not that my bounty is too high; it's that yours are too low." Sakage waved his hand nonchalantly.
As one of the top countries in the World Government, they had indeed looted Alabasta's royal capital, even if Sakage hadn't gained much personally.
Considering all that, Sakage felt that his bounty was quite normal.
He recalled that there were quite a few supernovas in this era, with some having bounties of over three hundred million. So, his bounty of four hundred million was reasonable.
"Now that we're pirates, our bounties can't be too low. The higher they are, the more famous we'll become, and with fame, it'll be easier for us to accomplish our goals. You all need to work harder. In the first half of the Grand Line, your bounties must break the hundred million mark. That way, we can attract some strong people to join us and expand our influence."
"But there might be another situation."
A voice sounded from behind them.
Lily had come down from the third-floor control room. She wasn't wearing her battle skirt armor but a simple strappy dress that reached just above her knees. Although it looked conservative, it accentuated her figure beautifully, and with each step she took, her chest seemed to jiggle like large jello.
"There's a pirate ship heading our way. Although it seems to be sailing normally, they've changed course after spotting us."
"Oh? What do they look like?" Sakage asked.
Reneetie ran to the front of the ship, pulled down the wind-blocking goggles on her head, and caused electric sparks to flash in her hands, adjusting the magnification function.
As a Dynamo, the devices she created could be enhanced by her own power source.
After observing for a while, Reneetie turned her head and said, "Sakage, it's a skull with two curved swords, and there's a tuft of red hair on top. From these features, I think it should be called 'Red Hair'!"
Sakage: "..."
"If he's heading this way, the commotion he's causing is no less than a tsunami. The Navy admirals should have surrounded him by now."
He rolled his eyes, drained his cup, and walked to the front of the ship, quietly observing until the outline of the ship came into view. Then, a red light flashed in his eyes, and he shook his head, "Palur."
"Yes!"
At the sound of his name, Palur, who had been training, stood at attention.
"Take some men and go check it out. If they're enemies, take their stuff and sink the ship," Sakage ordered.
"Yes, Captain! Leave it to me, Palur of Absolute Defense!" Palur bared his teeth, revealing a white glow.
"Hey, Sakage, do you know them? Are they enemies?" Reneetie asked.
"I don't know such small fries, and it doesn't matter. Don't disturb my sunbathing," Sakage shook his head and returned to his recliner.
The aura perceived by his Observation Color was not at all powerful, numbering only a few dozen people. They were complete weaklings, and Palur could easily handle them.
Palur gathered about ten men and brought out a few motorcycles. These vehicles looked like large, open discs with long handles at the front.
They were quite bulky, with room for three people on the main body and two smaller boats attached to each side, seating three more people.
These vehicles were sea-land motorcycles created by Reneetie, far more useful than the small assault boats. Each motorcycle could carry nine people, and they currently had three of them.
Reneetie named them 'Round-Mos.'
Palur sat on one of the motorcycles, waiting for his men to board. He aimed at the side of the deck, twisted the handle, and shouted, "Round-Mos, activate!"
With a burst of smoke, the three motorcycles shot out from the side of the deck, splashed into the sea, and, with Palur adjusting their direction, sped towards the pirate ship.
"Fire!"
Akin ended his training and ordered his men to load the cannons and fire chain shots at the sails, tearing down the masts.
This way, there was no chance for the ship to escape.
It wasn't long before Palur approached the pirate ship, hooked it with a thick chain, and leaped onto it with his men. Soon, the sounds of battle echoed from within.
"Looks like they're not here to join me."
Sakage shook his head and handed his cup to Marika. "Pour me another."
Marika smiled and took the cup to the kitchen to refill it.
By the time she returned with a fresh drink, the pirate ship had fallen silent, and Palur's three motorcycles were back in the waters near the Dead Star. Palur's men lowered hooks to pull the vehicles and their riders back onto the ship.
Palur carried a small cloth bag, containing a small amount of gold and some Berries, totaling less than five million—a pitiful amount.
His men had also looted some supplies.
"Captain, it's Red Hair!" Palur exclaimed.
"Huh?" Sakage was taken aback. "What red hair?"
"The captain of that pirate crew claimed to be Red Hair, with a bounty of two hundred and ninety million Berries. He said he saw your flag and wanted to take your head to make a name for himself," Palur explained.
"Where is he now?"
"I killed him and threw him into the sea. I found this."
Palur presented his spoils—an Eternal Pose.
Inscribed on the Eternal Pose were a series of letters.
"Gaia?"
Lily took the Eternal Pose, examined it, and said, "It's pointing to an island called 'Gaia.'"
Suddenly, a small black dot appeared in the clear sky and fell rapidly, as if it were about to hit Sakage's head.
Marika reached out and caught it. "A ship's wheel?"
A ship's wheel had fallen from the sky.
Whoosh! At that moment, Lily's ears twitched, and she subconsciously looked at the small compass in her hand. The needle pointed straight up at the sky and froze.
