Chapter 11: Such a Large Tree, It's a Shame We Couldn't Dig It Up
Chapter 11: Such a Large Tree, It’s a Shame We Couldn’t Dig It Up
[A crushing victory, you have gained 544.5 experience points.]
[You have scavenged and obtained]
[Common Resources: 45 units of wood, 45 units of ore, 45 units of grain]
[Special Resources: 5 units of mercury, 5 units of sulfur, 5 units of gems, 5 units of crystals]
[330 gold coins]
[Building Blueprint: Training Ground]
[Basic Treasure: White Bone Helmet]
[You have completed the dungeon quest, gaining 1650 experience points.]
[Your level has been upgraded to Level 3.]
After exploring the entire area, Qin Muye found nothing of value in the Skeleton Training Ground. He left the dungeon, and the combination of monster-killing experience and quest experience immediately boosted him from Level 2 to Level 3. As usual, he was given three skill options to choose from.
[1. Intermediate Academics (affected by Wisdom, allows learning of 1-3 level spells)]
[2. Basic Logistics (increases land movement by 10%)]
[3. Basic Navigation (increases sea movement by 50%)]
There was no need to think twice; he chose Intermediate Academics. The other two skills looked good, especially Basic Navigation, which offered a 50% boost, but he was in the interior. When would he ever have the chance to go to sea?
Qin Muye had positioned himself as an internal researcher, and he would delegate tasks to his subordinates. There was no need for him to take the front lines.
The White Bone Helmet was decent, providing an additional 1 point of defense. Qin Muye naturally gave it to his Champion-level Sprite. He didn’t need to be the one charging into battle; he just needed to be able to run away.
At this early stage, wild monsters wouldn’t attack on their own, so there was minimal danger.
The resources he had gathered were substantial, but they were still far from enough to repair the Mage Tower. After completing the Wisdom Tree’s task, he planned to build a few Sprite Workshops to increase the number of Sprites under his command, aiming to break the thousand mark.
The Training Ground seemed more complex than he initially thought. It allowed units to evolve from ordinary to elite, though it wouldn’t be enough to reach the Champion level.
After learning the skill, Qin Muye was escorted by his Champion-level Sprite to find the Wisdom Tree.
During this journey, his progress in learning the Magic Eye was quite rapid, with only a few nodes left. The main challenge was that the spell was built around the eyes, making it particularly difficult.
If he had relied on The Lord’s Era, he could have learned it directly, but unfortunately, he was self-taught.
Fortunately, his talents and skills were all focused on learning; otherwise, it might have taken a month, not just a day.
The return trip was much faster than the journey to the Skeleton Training Ground, where his Champion-level Sprite had to clear the way and gather resources, which slowed them down significantly.
On the way back, they had nothing to carry, and with the Champion-level Sprite carrying Qin Muye and three other Sprites, they moved at a much quicker pace, completing the journey in less than half the time.
With an attack of 15 and defense of 10, the Champion-level Sprite could easily obliterate Qin Muye with a single punch. Naturally, it was much faster than him and the other Sprites.
Otherwise, it wouldn’t be a Level 2 Champion.
The Wisdom Tree sensed Qin Muye’s return and showed no surprise, indicating that it was aware of the situation in the Skeleton Training Ground and knew more than he did.
"I didn’t expect you to be so quick, little mage. Well, here is the reward I promised you," the Wisdom Tree said expressionlessly.
[You have completed the clearance task, gaining a Warrior Class Change Certificate and 1650 experience points.]
Qin Muye checked his item inventory and, as expected, found an additional class change voucher. It looked like a handbook, and he would have to read it to find out what it was.
"Why don't you use it immediately?" The figure of the Wisdom Tree was fading, seemingly eager to see the outcome of the class change.
"It seems that you, Wise One, are not the main entity but just a manifestation," Qin Muye said with a hint of regret. The Wisdom Tree must have been a hero unit, and it appeared to be constrained by its manifestation form.
If it were the main entity, Qin Muye would have dug it up and planted it back at his base. Unfortunately, it was just a manifestation, one that would disappear after their interaction, bound by the rules of the Lord Era.
Clearly, the Wisdom Tree's manifestation had other thoughts after seeing Qin Muye cultivate a Champion-level sprite, leading it to gift him the class change voucher.
However, Qin Muye was not one to sit idly by. Under the pressure of death, he pushed himself to the limit, constantly learning and plotting.
Lacking strength, he relied on cunning. From the beginning, he and the Wisdom Tree had been testing each other.
He wanted to see what would happen if the Wisdom Tree broke its word, and the Wisdom Tree wanted to observe how these so-called gifted lords created heroes. Unfortunately, neither saw what they had hoped for.
"Let's go back to the Mage Tower," Qin Muye said, turning to leave. The Wisdom Tree watched him go, then finally dissipated.
A manifestation, and a dissipating one at that, held no value for Qin Muye.
What was more important now was getting back to the Mage Tower before nightfall.
While the novice period indeed protected lords from wild monsters, the situation with the Wisdom Tree's manifestation suggested that the native inhabitants were not to be underestimated. The appearance of the gifted lords would inevitably draw attention from all sides. The 7-day and 30-day protection periods would likely prevent the natives from causing direct harm, but they could still engage in indirect probing, much like the Wisdom Tree's manifestation.
'I have only four days left of my 7-day invincibility, and after that, things will get tough. Once the 30-day adaptation period is over, I will likely face the native inhabitants.'
He understood that the lords' enemies were not just the wild monsters but also the native inhabitants.
For example, the faction to which his Mage Tower belonged, and the faction to which the Wisdom Tree belonged.
Currently, they were isolated from the native inhabitants of the Magic Continent, which was why Qin Muye had not encountered any. This isolation was the source of the 7-day novice period.
'I wonder how many of these thousand lords will survive. There's no chat channel, no trading store, and no forum, which means all the lords are cut off from each other.'
In Qin Muye's view, the lords were natural allies. After all, they all came from the same world and were part of the same faction, making them closer than the native inhabitants.
On the way back, Qin Muye learned the Magic Eye spell.
You have learned Level 1 Source Magic: Magic Eye
Level 1 Spell
Source Magic
Magic Eye: +1 Vision for 10 minutes, Cost: 1 Magic Point
"Finally, 1 Magic Point for 10 minutes is not too high, but unfortunately, it can only be taught to hero units, not even to Champion-level sprites," Qin Muye thought. After learning the spell, he tried to teach it to his Champion-level sprite using Intermediate Academia, but it failed.
Spells from Level 1 to Level 2 do not require the Wisdom Spell, but Level 3 spells do.
