For the Thirteenth Division, known as the "Purification Squad," traveling to the World of the Living wasn't an uncommon task. In fact, the Shinigami stationed in each city were all members of the Thirteenth Division.
Shinigami are composed of Spirit Particles, and the World of the Living also possesses a certain amount of Spirit Particles. Therefore, for Shinigami to travel to the World of the Living, they generally only need a Hell Butterfly to guide them and a Senkaimon to cross worlds.
