Chapter 11: Chakra Flow
Chapter 11: Chakra Flow
The Eight Inner Gates was a basic Taijutsu that even a Genin could develop. However, it wasn't something that Feng Ye could fully deduce in a short period.
He had located the eight corresponding positions of the Eight Inner Gates within his body, but the true challenge lay in learning how to loosen them through training and controlling their opening and closing at will.
"I guess practice and experimentation are still necessary..."
Feng Ye pondered.
He contemplated whether to seek a shortcut by consulting Maitadai. It would be safer to learn from Maitadai, given that the Eight Inner Gates was still a forbidden technique, and there might be risks involved in its development, no matter how straightforward it seemed.
The morning test involved assessing their Taijutsu skills through various tasks such as tree climbing and running with weights. These tasks were not particularly challenging for the ninja school students, and even Datou passed the test with relative ease.
After the test, Feng Ye returned home.
Following a quick tidy-up and a meal, Feng Ye left home once more to search for Maitadai and Maitake within the village. Unfortunately, it seemed that Maitadai was away on a mission, and only Maitake could be found training at his usual spot.
Since he couldn't find Maitadai to create an 'accidental' encounter and seek guidance, Feng Ye didn't fret. He returned to his residence, picked up his Chakra Blade, Byakuya, and headed towards the village's back mountain.
"This time, it should be about right..."
Arriving at his usual training spot, Feng Ye gripped Byakuya and took a deep breath. Instead of creating a shadow clone, he began to train directly with his original body.
After his battle with Kakashi yesterday, he had continued to practice the Hatake Blade Art at home and felt that he was approaching the threshold of comprehending Chakra flow!
The Hatake Blade Art, renowned throughout the ninja world for its power, consisted of two stages.
The key to the first stage lay in Chakra flow.
Chakra flow referred to the ability to infuse one's Chakra onto a weapon in a flowing manner, enhancing its sharpness and attack power. Once mastered, the might of the Hatake Blade Art would surge tremendously.
As for the second stage, it involved an advanced version of Chakra flow—Chakra shape transformation!
By solidifying the flowing Chakra and giving it a sharp form, the power of the Hatake Blade Art would be further amplified.
Regardless of the practitioner's original strength, mastering the first stage would guarantee a Chunin-level of power, and achieving the second stage would undoubtedly grant one the strength of a Jonin!
Further progress beyond that would depend on one's natural talent.
Although it was said that only upon perfecting the art would one attain Jonin-level might, the Hatake Blade Art was not to be underestimated. In fact, very few techniques could surpass it, and those that did were often forbidden or secret techniques, like the Flying Thunder God, which was beyond the reach of ordinary individuals.
Feng Ye had never slackened in his practice of the Hatake Blade Art. Moreover, the art's utilization of Chakra was, in itself, an extremely potent manipulation technique. The Hatake Blade Art also didn't conflict with most Taijutsu, allowing it to be used effectively even in states like the Eight Inner Gates or Sage Mode.
Hiss! Hiss!
Feng Ye continuously swung his blade, and a faint layer of white light could be seen flowing along Byakuya, quivering and leaving trails with each swing.
This training session lasted for several hours before Feng Ye called it a break. After a meal back in the village, he returned to the same spot to continue his practice.
Seven hours...
Eight hours...
Nine hours...
Under the influence of the three-fold time acceleration, Feng Ye tirelessly performed the most basic exercises of the Hatake Blade Art, integrating the clunky Chakra flow into his movements.
As time passed, his movements became smoother, and his control over Chakra flow improved. Eventually, at a certain moment, Feng Ye slashed his blade, and the Chakra flowing along the edge seemed to merge perfectly with the direction of his strike, causing him to stop in satisfaction.
After dozens of consecutive attempts, he finally confirmed his proficiency and breathed a sigh of relief, his body relaxing slightly.
The first stage of the Hatake Blade Art had been perfected!
"Let's see its power..."
Feng Ye calmed his emotions and approached a wooden stake. With a flash in his eyes, he took a step forward, and the Chakra short sword in his hand slashed through the air, emitting a white glow.
Szz!
The wooden stake, roughly the width of an embrace, was effortlessly pierced through like tofu, with half of the wood silently sliding down to the ground.
"It's indeed powerful..." Feng Ye murmured in evaluation as he observed the impact of his strike.
The White Fang's description was accurate; when paired with the first stage of the Hatake Blade Art, it could indeed rival a Chunin-level opponent and possibly gain the upper hand against a typical Chunin or even a stronger one.
Feng Ye's strength had already reached the Chunin level due to his ninjutsu and taijutsu skills. Now, with the addition of the first stage of the Hatake Blade Art, he was undoubtedly an elite Chunin, even without any special enhancements!
"Next is... the doubled speed state."
Feng Ye took a breath, and a gleam appeared in his eyes.
The strike that had just cut through the wooden stake was performed in a normal state. Undoubtedly, the Hatake Blade Art could unleash even greater power in a doubled speed state!
Silence.
Feng Ye entered a three-fold speed state.
If one were observing from a distance, they would see Feng Ye as if he had entered an eerie fast-forward state, his entire body, including his breathing frequency, moving unnaturally.
In this state, Feng Ye gripped the Chakra sword, White Fang, and released his chakra flow before abruptly slashing at the wooden stake in front of him.
Szz!
This strike, at three times the speed, was so fast that it left afterimages in its wake!
In an instant, the white arc of the sword glowed like a flash of sword light, piercing through the thick wooden stake!
"This..."
Feng Ye's eyes widened in shock.
In the time-accelerated state, the range of his strike had extended beyond the reach of his blade, creating a slash nearly a foot long! This was something that could only be achieved with the second stage of the Hatake Blade Art!
Suppressing his astonishment, Feng Ye walked around the stake to its back, clearly seeing a line that had split the wood in two, with a matching mark on the ground.
"The power might not match the true second stage of the Hatake Blade Art, but in a time-doubled state, relying on chakra flow and the Hatake Blade Art, I can indeed extend the range of my strikes!"
Feng Ye took a breath and assessed his level of strength.
Special Jonin!
A Special Jonin proficient in speed!
While he might not fare well against Special Jonin skilled in genjutsu or possessing forbidden jutsu, he could undoubtedly overpower a typical Chunin or even an elite Chunin with his speed.
The true strength of speed lay in the ability to face multiple opponents without fear.
A Special Jonin skilled in genjutsu or possessing a forbidden jutsu might struggle against three or four elite Chunin working together, but with his speed, even if he couldn't swiftly defeat his opponents, he could maneuver in and out of the battle at will, maintaining the upper hand.
