Chapter 11: 'Big Sister' and the Pervert
Chapter 11: 'Big Sister' and the Pervert
"Shapeshifting Magic is a type of magic that uses mana to give or take away 'form.'"
Mira took a moment to educate Rod about the magic.
"Shapeshifting Magic sounds really convenient," Rod mused. It was a practical magic that could provide a seat or a house whenever and wherever he needed one.
Mira nodded. "Exactly. Besides the Wood Shapeshifting that Laki uses, there are also Ice Shapeshifting, Earth Shapeshifting, and more. It's a magic that really showcases the caster's personality."
"Personality?" Rod wasn't sure how to see that. Was Laki's personality reflected in the names she gave things?
"Right, I haven't asked yet, Mira, what kind of magic do you use?"
Master Makarov, with a slightly tipsy look, glanced at them but didn't say anything.
"Me?" Mira's expression remained calm. "Let me show you. Watch closely."
"Transformation: Only the Head is a Poro!"
A cloud of smoke enveloped Mira, and when it cleared, her body remained unchanged, but her head had transformed into that of a Poro.
Rod was taken aback.
Poro Worm was even more startled, sitting down on the counter and scrambling backward with its front legs dragging on the ground.
"It's not over yet. Transformation: Only the Head is Rod!"
"!!!"
Rod watched in shock as a face identical to his own appeared, attached to Mira's red-clad body below the neck.
Rod covered his eyes. "Sister, you're my real sister, please spare me!"
Mira transformed back to her normal self, smiling sweetly. "Oh, did I not look like you?"
"Because you looked too much like me, I'm feeling quite... troubled."
Mira corrected him. "It's 'distressed.'"
"Right, distressed... I see, you know what I mean!" Rod sensed a hint of mischief in Mira's smile.
Someone slapped a few large bills on the counter. "Mira, I want a barrel of ale!"
"Kana, starting so early today?"
"Hehe..." Kana leaned against the counter, sitting on a stool and winking at Mira.
"I was planning to go out to work after lunch, but thanks to Makao, I just won some money!"
"Congratulations." Mira smiled and effortlessly lifted a heavy barrel of ale onto the counter, her face not even flushing.
Rod was surprised. He had tried to move that barrel before, and it was incredibly heavy. Mira handled it so easily, with the strength of a mountain.
Is this what a Mage can do?
Kana, the woman Mira called by that name, was no less impressive. She popped the cork off the barrel and started drinking straight from it, a truly bold and confident display.
Rod couldn't help but wonder where such slender arms got their strength. Was it all thanks to magic?
After a few moments of awkwardly staring at Kana, Rod averted his gaze. This woman was dressed far too provocatively!
Her lower half was covered in ordinary seven-eighths pants and leather sandals, but her upper half was barely clad in...
Rod, being somewhat naive, couldn't tell if it was lingerie or a swimsuit. Either way, his eyes were immediately drawn to her waist, cleavage, and curves, making him feel quite uncomfortable.
He had never seen such a sight in real life.
Poro Worm, however, had no such qualms. Seeing someone sit down, it immediately scampered over, wagging its tail and looking for a treat.
"Ah? You want some too?" Kana noticed the little ball of fur and asked Mira for a cup to give Poro some ale.
Mira wanted to confirm. "Rod, can Worm drink alcohol?"
Rod thought for a moment. "I'm not sure. Maybe we should give it a small taste?"
"You, not even looking back when you speak? Huh?" Kana's voice carried a hint of alcohol, and Rod's behavior was a bit impolite.
"Are you the new guy? Do you have a problem with me from the moment you arrived?"
“Nothing, sorry,” Rod managed to turn around and face Cana, but he didn't know where to look, his eyes darting around nervously. “I just... um...”
“Huh?” Cana seemed to catch on, her eyes twinkling with mischief. “Could it be that you’re... the shy type? You’ve never even had a girlfriend, have you?”
Rod felt like he might have encountered a troublemaker, and he was at a loss for what to do. “...”
Cana didn’t need an answer; she could read it from Rod’s flustered expression. She burst into laughter. “Hahaha, that reaction is priceless! How about it, would you like Big Sister to take care of you?”
“No, thanks,” Rod blushed, wondering if this "Big Sister" was drunk or just naturally like this.
He didn’t know that Cana, who called herself "Big Sister," was actually only 17 years old, younger than him.
But Rod was intimidated, and he had no idea how to deal with this kind of girl.
“Rod, the fried pork cutlet and spaghetti for Gray at table 3.”
Thankfully, Mira came to the rescue at the right moment. Rod shot her a grateful look, took the tray, and fled.
“That’s a real buzzkill, Mira,” Cana grumbled, raising her barrel and taking a large swig.
“Sorry, I should have watched Big Sister Cana take care of Rod.”
Mira smiled sweetly. “Should I start with a hug, or a kiss, or maybe...”
“Pfft... enough, enough!” Cana choked on her drink, the mature and confident demeanor she had just a moment ago now replaced with a blush.
Clearly, in certain areas, her experience was no better than Rod’s. Bold clothing was just bold clothing.
She was just a master of talk.
---
Rod recognized the name Gray from the posters he had seen.
But compared to Natsu, Gray didn’t stand out as much to Rod, and he wouldn’t have dared to approach him before Mira introduced them.
However, after meeting Gray in person, Rod immediately remembered him, because:
“Naked... naked... naked man!”
Rod felt his eyes might go blind. What was wrong with this guy called Gray?
His chest and abs looked pretty toned... but that wasn’t the point.
The point was, why wasn’t he wearing any clothes in public?
Looking at the scattered shirt, pants, and underwear on the ground, it was clear this guy had deliberately taken them off after arriving at the guild.
“Huh?” Gray looked down at himself, confused. “When did I...?”
It seemed he didn’t even realize when he had taken his clothes off!
Rod felt a headache coming on.
Gray hurriedly dressed himself, and the guy with the overbite sitting opposite him explained, “Don’t worry, Gray isn’t a pervert, he just often takes off his clothes without realizing it.”
“...” Rod hesitated, “I’m not very good with the common language. Is taking off your clothes at any time and place not considered perverted?”
The overbite guy glanced at Gray, unsure. “I guess... or you could just consider him a pervert.”
“Who are you calling a pervert, you jerk!” Gray slammed his hand on the table and stood up, ready to fight. “You want to go?”
Rod felt he was starting to get used to the communication style here—people didn’t hold back with their words, and if you didn’t agree, you fought.
So, when he felt he couldn’t handle Cana earlier, he should have fought her?
No, no, that’s not right. It’s different, and it’s not good to fight with girls...
Besides, he was just a half-trained mage, and he probably wouldn’t stand a chance against her.
Wait, where did Gray’s shirt go again?
