Chapter 1097: Seven Days Later, the Disintegration Ray Tower is Completed
Over the next few days, Manina consulted numerous high-ranking cultivators who had developed a "defeatist tendency" and attempted to address the issue.
However, things were not as simple as he had hoped.
Manina tried every method he could think of, including conversations, counseling, mental cleansing, and instilling a sense of victory, but none of these methods alleviated the symptoms of the affected cultivators.
Moreover, he dishearteningly discovered that as time passed, more and more soldiers and high-ranking cultivators in the army were developing this "defeatist tendency." The problem was worsening, and treatment methods were proving ineffective.
Frustrated, Manina had no choice but to give up on treating them.
The only solution he could think of was to quickly break through the Blue Star humans' first line of defense and the subsequent defenses.
Only by achieving a swift victory could he hope to stem the spread of this "defeatist tendency."
However, things were not entirely bleak for the Skrull people during these days.
A few days later, Manina received some good news—the rebellion of the Sea Titan clan had finally been quelled!
A few days prior, the Sea Titan King had died, leading to a collective uprising among the Sea Titans.
Enraged Sea Titan rebels stormed the base and approached the coalition command center, intent on killing Manina to avenge their king.
At the time of the incident, Manina's great-grandfather, Manina III, returned to the base with the Solar Empire's royal contingent to suppress the rebellion.
After five days of bloody suppression, the 1,000 Sea Titan troops involved in the rebellion were all subdued.
Seven hundred Sea Titan warriors were slaughtered, and the remaining 300 were imprisoned by the Skrulls, to be released back to their clan after the war.
Other clans, such as the Merfolk, Rhinoceratops, and Crowned Birds, witnessed everything but made no public statements.
They continued to cooperate with the Skrull command as usual, showing no visible emotional fluctuations on the surface.
However, it was uncertain whether these clans would remain united with the Skrulls or drift apart in secret.
Nonetheless, the quelling of the rebellion was undoubtedly good news for the Skrulls.
After the rebellion was suppressed, Manina III could finally return to the battlefield, leading the Solar Empire's royal contingent against the Blue Star humans.
The pressure on the Blue Star side increased as a result.
...
...
Time passed day by day.
Finally, it was the 7th day since the Cloud Herd enemy squad had broken into the Skrull base, which was also the 11th day of the great battle—June 11th.
During these seven days, the most crucial task for the Blue Star side was evacuation.
After seven days of continuous evacuation, the first line of defense was almost completely empty.
Now, apart from high-ranking cultivators of the sixth rank and above, no one else could be seen in the defensive line.
The Dragon Abyss Four Symbols Formation was still operational, but due to the lack of personnel to power it, the formation was becoming increasingly unstable, and its defensive strength had significantly decreased.
Everyone knew that the grand formation that had protected humanity for 11 days was about to meet its fate.
However, the Blue Star side did not become complacent due to the smooth evacuation.
Standing on the city wall at the Black Tortoise node, all the high-ranking cultivators, including Su Yu, had solemn expressions.
They all looked toward a specific area in the enemy formation, where the Skrulls had completed their Disintegration Ray Tower cluster!
Over these seven days, the Skrulls had built five Disintegration Ray Towers, adding to the initial one, making a total of six.
The Skrulls exhausted all their materials to construct the disintegration ray towers. The moment these five towers were completed, it would mark the destruction of Earth's first line of defense.
Su Yu and his companions were not only grim-faced because of the completion of the disintegration ray towers. There was another reason that weighed heavily on their minds: the AI Blue Whale had still not completed its upgrade!
This fact cast a dark shadow over everyone's expressions.
"It seems Blue Whale's projected timeline might be accurate," Zhong Feng, standing beside Su Yu, turned to him and said with a bitter smile. "It's been seven days, and the upgrade is still not complete. Donna once mentioned that a Level 1 AI should not take more than six days to upgrade to Level 2. It looks like Blue Whale's upgrade is far from a simple process."
"Indeed!" Su Yu looked up at the sky and sighed. "We have to consider the worst-case scenario— if Blue Whale's timeline is correct, we might not be able to use the AI system at all during this battle."
Ironically, Earth's side had reported the "disintegration ray" technology to the Skrulls to gain some additional benefits. Now, not only had they received no benefits, but the AI system was also out of commission! And with the approval from Saint Song, who could they appeal to?
"Right, Su Yu," Zhong Feng suddenly had an idea. "What if we explain the entire situation to Saint Song? We can tell her that without the AI system, we will suffer severe losses, which will significantly impact the fairness of the war. Perhaps she can provide us with some alternative compensation?"
Su Yu didn't answer immediately but turned to look at him.
Zhong Feng continued, "This compensation could be temporary, such as giving us top-tier defensive technology to offset our losses until the AI upgrade is complete. Otherwise, it's too unfair for our side!"
"Ah, Zhong Feng!" Su Yu patted Zhong Feng's shoulder, a look of understanding on his face. "You and I are on the same wavelength. I had the same thought yesterday and already informed Donna about Blue Whale's upgrade issue. She agreed to help me appeal to Saint Song and strive to obtain additional compensation."
"You've already appealed?" Zhong Feng's eyes lit up. "What did Saint Song say?"
"Nothing yet." Su Yu shook his head and waved his electronic terminal. "Donna only filed the appeal last night. It's been about 11 to 12 hours, and I haven't received a response from her yet."
"Let's hope—"
"Wait, Donna is calling! Speak of the devil!"
At that moment, Su Yu's communication terminal received a call from Donna, indicating that Saint Song's response had arrived!
"Did you call me?" At the same time, a hoarse voice came from the northwest. It was Cao Cao, the Prime Minister.
Cao Cao was still battling Prant. The two peak Eighth-Stage powerhouses had been fighting intermittently for over ten days, and the battle was still unresolved. Cao Cao was slightly at a disadvantage, but the disadvantage was not significant due to the support of the Dragon Abyss Four Symbols Array.
He had been keeping an eye on the situation at the Black Tortoise node. Hearing Su Yu call his name from a distance, he immediately interjected, shifting some of his attention to them.
