Chapter 109: Angel Remiel
Chapter 109: Angel Remiel
A fleet of ships appeared near Flame Island, guided by the two major merchant guilds, and docked in an orderly fashion.
Nearly a thousand crew members flooded the island, beginning to purge the islanders and loot their resources.
Without the main combat power of the island's leader, Chely, the other inhabitants of Flame Island were unable to cause much trouble.
The Great Hall.
After a fierce battle, the place was almost reduced to ruins.
Scattered rubble and flowing lava were everywhere.
There was hardly anywhere to stand.
"Respected Guardian, it's a pleasure to meet you," said the white-haired Paladin, Karl, as he approached and performed an ancient gesture of respect, his voice trembling with excitement. "Paladin Brown, I am willing to serve you."
Karl's face paled slightly, as he had successfully killed the monster but had not escaped unscathed himself.
Feeling suffocated and blocked up, his hands trembled slightly, but fortunately, his foundation was unharmed, and he would recover with a few days of rest.
'It seems that my current self is still too weak to deal with beings of the Legendary rank.'
"Guardian?"
He turned to Brown:
"When did I get such a title?"
"In the time before the gods fell, the Moon Goddess had four guardians from the Holy Realm by her side," Brown's voice was hoarse as he spoke slowly. "They were the Golem, the Celestial Wolf, Gemini, and the Sacred Crab, also known as the Divine Guardians."
"You,"
"should be this generation's Golem!"
"Oh!" Karl raised an eyebrow:
"Why do you say that?"
"Because you cultivate the Gigant Breathing Technique."
"Is it that simple? Are there no Paladins who cultivate the Gigant Breathing Technique?"
"..." Brown shook his head slightly, explaining:
"Only the most devout believers are qualified to enter the Holy City and become Paladins. Only the most talented among the Paladins can enter the Holy Realm in the sky. Only after defeating other competitors in the Holy Realm can they cultivate the four great legacy techniques."
"And to become a Divine Guardian, one must be the most outstanding person in the Holy Realm."
"Respected Guardian, you should know that cultivating the Gigant Breathing Technique requires the blessing of the gods, so..."
His eyes were filled with fervor:
"The gods!"
"Have not fallen!"
Karl stroked his chin.
When he cultivated the Gigant Breathing Technique, he did indeed receive the blessing of the Moon Goddess, and although the Goddess seemed to be in a bad state, she had not fallen.
"So..."
He asked in surprise:
"You couldn't confirm that the Moon Goddess hadn't fallen before?"
"Yes." Brown nodded:
"The divine realm has already shattered, and the Holy Temple has analyzed some signs, guessing that the Goddess should still be alive."
"It's just that there has been no way to prove it, and your existence as the Guardian is one piece of evidence."
No wonder he was so excited.
For hundreds of years, the knights of the Holy Temple had wandered this continent, supposedly searching for the Goddess, but how many of them had secretly doubted whether the Goddess was still alive or had already fallen?
Now,
there was evidence to prove that the Goddess was still alive, and for the Paladins, this was no less than a restoration of their faith.
"Over the years, the Paladins have explored many ruins, and the Holy Temple has collected the legacies of the Golem and the Sacred Crab."
Brown spoke up:
"But for hundreds of years, no one has truly succeeded in cultivation. Those who cultivate are weaker versions that don't require the blessing."
"Not only the Goddess's legacy, but the legacies left by other deities are the same, and none can be truly cultivated."
Karl raised an eyebrow.
No wonder!
No wonder his strength was stronger than that of ordinary Grand Knights; the Breathing Technique played a significant role.
No matter how high the rank of others' Breathing Techniques, they could not surpass the legacies left by the deities.
Karl had once thought that his Breathing Technique was powerful, but he abandoned this idea after encountering the Furnace Hundred Aspects.
The complete version of Furnace Hundred Aspects was no less than the Gigant Breathing Technique, and it should even be higher.
But,
if no one has cultivated it, then that's another story.
The Gigant Breathing Technique alone, cultivated to the peak of Grand Knight, would likely crush the top experts of Free Harbor and possess the ability to confront Legendary Creatures.
"Guardian."
Brown spoke up again:
"Please come with me to the Holy Temple. The Paladins of this land will follow you to rescue the trapped Goddess."
"Go to the Holy Temple?" Karl shook his head:
"I'm not interested right now."
"Ah..."
Brown's face stiffened:
"Why... why not?"
Logically, the one who received the blessing of the Goddess should be the most devout believer, but Karl's tone lacked respect for the Goddess.
"There's no reason."
Karl shook his head:
"I just don't want to."
Joking aside,
the deities!
Even Second Circle Wizards dare not approach them, and for Karl to do so now would be seeking death.
Perhaps the Moon Goddess had no ill intentions towards him, but what if? What about the other deities? And what about those so-called Demon Gods that caused the fall of many deities? These were things far beyond Karl's current abilities.
"Guardian!"
Brown hurriedly said:
"You don't need to do anything. Just come back to the Holy Temple with me, and they will find a way to uncover the Goddess's whereabouts from you."
This statement made Karl even more reluctant to go to the so-called Holy Temple.
Who knew what methods they would use.
Drain his blood?
Dissect him?
...
Given the Paladins' fanatical faith in the Goddess, if saving the Goddess required sacrificing someone, they would not hesitate.
"Forget it!"
Karl waved his hand and headed outside.
"Guardian." Brown hurriedly followed:
"The Holy Temple has the legacies left by the deities, many strong protectors to ensure your safety, and the Supreme Seal you desire is also there..."
Karl paused, then shook his head again.
He wanted those things.
But only under the premise of guaranteed safety.
"Karl!"
At this moment,
Susan's voice came from ahead:
"Come and see what we've found.
...
This place should be the boudoir of Chely, the island master of Flame Island.
The high ceiling is crafted with intricate wooden beams and plaster ornaments, allowing sunlight to filter through stained glass, casting a mottled pattern on the polished marble floor.
Various weapons hang on the surrounding walls, their blades exposed, emanating a sharp and fierce aura.
In one corner of the living room stands a meticulously crafted dressing table, atop which cosmetics and jewelry gather a layer of dust.
"Chely used to love makeup. For her to abandon her dressing table, it's evident that the Demon God's aura has distorted her mind."
Connie shook his head and looked at a meteorite on the bed:
"Is this it?"
"Yes."
Sea God Hawk held his trident and tapped the meteorite:
"Is it broken?"
This fist-sized, flame-red meteorite, according to the islanders, was found in the magma.
Since obtaining this meteorite, Chely's temperament began to change.
Not just her.
All the islanders became muddled and confused, with only a few who frequently left the island retaining their sanity.
But as soon as they returned to the island, they would become strange, and the longer they stayed, the more apparent the change.
The meteorite's surface was pitted and scarred, with numerous cracks inside, easily shattering with a slight touch.
Connie stepped forward.
"Be careful!"
Susan hurriedly warned.
"It's fine." Connie shook his head:
"The thing inside should be gone."
"What thing?" Lura asked curiously:
"What is it?"
Connie held a piece of the meteorite fragment, raised it towards the sunlight, and squinted as he examined it:
"Based on my guess, hundreds of years ago, this extraterrestrial meteorite carrying the aura of the Demon God fell on this island, and it was only discovered by Chely."
"The aura of the Demon God bewitched her, twisting and transforming her mind step by step, eventually turning her into a monster."
"But with Chely's death, the aura of the Demon God also disappeared, causing this stone to crack."
"That's right." Hawk nodded:
"According to Chely's former pirate companions, she had been carrying this meteorite ever since she found it."
"During meals, while sleeping, and even when fighting, she never parted with it, only recently letting go."
"The aura of the Demon God..." Karl also picked up a piece of the meteorite fragment and used his analysis technique to examine its material:
"Ordinary meteorite."
An ordinary meteorite, tainted with a trace of the Demon God's aura, almost wiped out everyone.
How terrifying would the true Demon God be?
"Look!"
Lura lifted a cloth curtain, revealing what was behind it:
"What is this?"
On the ground behind the curtain, an eerie pattern was drawn with blood, and different items were placed in each corner.
The entire scene was eerie.
"An altar."
Connie squatted down to inspect the ground and explained:
"According to rumors, the deities receive countless prayers from believers every day, but they only choose a tiny fraction of lucky ones to respond to.
"If you set up an altar and offer sacrifices, the voices of the believers will be prioritized by the deities and receive a response."
"However..."
He stood up, kicked over the items on the altar and continued:
"In our world, there's a barrier that prevents the power of the Demon God from seeping in, and the deities can't hear the voices of the believers. Chely probably wanted to use this method to establish contact with the core of the Demon God."
"No!" Karl shook his head:
"Not Chely, but the Demon God."
"It manipulated Chely to set up the altar to draw its power."
"Exactly!" Connie's eyes lit up:
"I didn't expect you, Karl, to have some understanding of the deities. We should exchange knowledge in the future."
Karl smiled:
"I'm curious about all knowledge."
"Destroy it!" Connie stood up, picked up some books nearby, and casually threw them on the ground:
"These are all things used to communicate with the deities and bewitch people's hearts."
"What if we keep it?" Lura stroked her smooth chin, her eyes glinting:
"What if we can communicate with the true deities and receive their blessings?"
"The gods have fallen, and even the most devout believers of the deities cannot receive their response." Connie shook his head:
"We have even less chance."
"What if..." After witnessing Chely's strength, Lura couldn't help but hold onto a sliver of hope:
"What if?"
"If you get a response, it'll be worse." Connie warned:
"As a mortal, never try to understand the deities after communicating with the Demon God."
"I'll do it." Karl stepped forward:
"Mortals shouldn't attempt to understand the gods, but regarding their descriptions, looking at them a few times shouldn't be a problem."
As he spoke,
He picked up a book.
Connie frowned subconsciously.
He was more aware than others of the temptation of these things, and few could resist trying.
If there's no response, it's fine, but if there is...
Then it's over!
...
"The Guardian is unwilling to go to the Holy Temple."
Brown gazed at the shattered Crimson Moon in the sky, his eyes shifting:
"Why did the Goddess choose someone without faith to be her Guardian? Could this also be the will of the gods?"
"Regardless, the Guardian's message must be conveyed back to the Holy Temple. It's best to have a Blasphemy Knight come to ensure the Guardian's safety."
Lowering his head,
Brown carved line after line of text on a strange stone.
The text flashed and then disappeared.
Fragment of the Divine Realm.
Source Quality: 0.6
"As expected."
Karl looked at the light screen in front of him:
"Source Quality is related to the deities. Whether it's the true gods or the Demon God, any existence tainted with their aura will have Source Quality, and by killing them, I can obtain it."
Name: Karl
Constitution: 4.25
Mental Power: 4.38
Source Quality: 0.6
Level: Grand Knight, High Wizard Apprentice
Add Constitution?
Mental Power?
If Mental Power is added, it can increase the power of Wizardry and accelerate the progress of Bloodline Wizardry.
But in the short term, the increase is not significant.
Add Constitution.
To be honest, the change is not much either.
But there is one benefit, and that is that the Constitution value can reach the Grand Knight's perfect limit faster.
Especially after the Bloodline Magic is cultivated, the Constitution has been increasing rapidly recently, and there is still no sign of slowing down.
So...
Add Constitution! With this thought, the data on the light screen changes accordingly, and a sense of fullness and power surges within.
The flesh becomes more firm, the bones and internal organs are enhanced, and the life seed accelerates its expansion.
Name: Karl
Constitution: 4.55
Mental Power: 4.38
Source Essence: 0
Level: Grand Knight, High Wizard Apprentice
"Huala..."
The Mage's Hand rolls up a book and opens it in front of Karl, revealing numerous intricate patterns within.
"Methods to communicate with Deities?"
"I don't know if I, as the master of the Holy Realm, can make use of it, and if it's useful, what kind of scene will it be?"
Currently, there are only two ways to break through the Grand Knight and become a Legend. One is to receive the blessing of a Deity.
The other is to possess a special bloodline.
For the latter, Karl can only pray that his inner Abyssal Bloodline will be of use, but based on the experiences of others, it's highly unlikely.
The first method is feasible.
6◇9◇Book◇End
Communicating with Deities seems not to be an easy task.
...
Alysia steps onto a small island, observing the obviously neglected path ahead, and sighs helplessly.
"Karl."
"If you don't have the time, you can hire some people to regularly maintain the island."
She expresses her regret:
"The environment of your and Xiber's island is quite good. It's just a matter of planting some crops."
"If you're in a hurry to use it, I suggest putting it up for sale at a large auction.
"With proper promotion and hype, it can attract more potential buyers and may fetch a higher price."
"Alright." Karl says without hesitation:
"Since I'm entrusting it to you, we'll follow your method."
"I like dealing with someone as straightforward as you." Alysia smiles, taking out a contract:
"Confirm the details, and then sign."
"This item is too valuable. We should go through the proper procedure."
"Right."
She takes out a book:
"You asked me to buy an alchemy book, but... Are you planning to switch careers and become a weaver?"
Alchemy has many branches.
Broadly speaking, even the study of potions can be further categorized.
And within the field of alchemy, there are sub-categories like wizard hats, gloves, garments, and fabrics.
Karl laughs but remains silent.
After the death of the strange bird that was once Flame Island's master, Chely, some 'fur' was left behind, a rare material for crafting enchanted items.
Of course, it can't be wasted.
"Right!"
As Alysia was about to leave, she remembers something and turns back:
"Do you still remember Ansolt?"
"I do." Karl nods:
"Tim's friend. I heard he went missing."
"He's dead." Alysia shrugs:
"His body was retrieved from the depths of the swamp, and currently, we don't know who did it."
"He once entrusted me to try purchasing the advanced enchanted item you obtained from Adolf."
"Oh!" Karl exclaims:
"Really?
With a distant gaze, Karl stood in the study, lost in thought. His eyes had been closed, and his breathing was steady, as if he had fallen asleep while standing.
Gina's voice interrupted his reverie.
"Do you have any orders, Master?" she asked, her voice laced with a hint of mischief.
Karl remained silent.
"Are you sleeping?" Gina inquired, her tone tinged with curiosity.
"No!" Karl replied, his voice low and even.
Two months prior understanding of the mysteries of the universe and has transcended the ordinary.
Gina's lips curled into a sly smile.
"Actually, I've been pondering a secret," she said, her hands spread apart as if to emphasize her point. "I've been thinking nonstop, and I need to serve you better, Master."
Karl's expression turned skeptical.
"Is there a secret on you?" he asked, his eyes narrowing.
Gina chuckled, her hands still apart.
"It's easy to find out. Just hold the painting and you'll know the answer."
Karl's eyes widened in surprise.
Two Months Later
Status: 4.7
"Progress is slow!"
Karl exhaled, frustration etched on his face.
"Should be comparable to the three top warriors of the Free City, or even surpassed the Sea God, Hawk. With the blessing of the Deep Bloodline, his physical strength has grown rapidly over the past few months."
"Now, in a year or two, with the help of legendary creatures' blood and magic, I should be able to easily defeat ordinary legendary creatures and even the Sea God, Hawk."
"Hmm?"
Karl's eyes sparkled with intrigue as he stepped out of the house.
The night had grown darker, and the sky was almost pitch black, so dark that one couldn't see their fingers in front of them.
"Katherine?"
Karl's voice was hoarse.
The door creaked open, and Katherine, clad in a thin nightgown, stepped out.
"Ah...I..."
Karl's Adam's apple bobbed up and down as he swallowed hard, his heart racing. The sheer nightgown couldn't conceal her figure, leaving him bewildered.
The Scene in the Hall
The atmosphere in the hall was tense.
Karl's eyes widened as he took in the scene before him.
A sacrificial altar stood in the center of the hall, upon which rested an ancient, mysterious-looking tome. Katherine stood beside it, an unreadable expression on her face.
"What is...?" Karl stuttered, his eyes fixed on the altar.
The Sound of a Thud, Twice
"Boom!"
"Boom!"
Karl's throat constricted, and his heart skipped a beat. He sensed an ominous presence, as if the darkness itself was closing in.
Katherine's Revelation
Karl's eyes snapped toward Katherine, who slowly began to speak, her voice low and husky.
"I...know your secret," she stammered, her eyes downcast, as if fearful of being overheard.
"How...?" Karl's voice trailed off, his curiosity piqued.
Katherine's gaze drifted toward the window, where the darkness seemed to grow thicker, like a living entity.
"You're not...human," she whispered, her voice barely audible.
Karl's face contorted, his mind racing.
The Unveiled Truth
Katherine's eyes, once bright, had dulled, her gaze unfocused.
"I'm...God's servant...of the God, Remiel," she whispered, her voice now a gentle breeze on a summer's day, soothing and heartwarming.
"God's servant, an angel...Remiel," Katherine revealed, her voice carrying the weight of the heavens.
The Unveiled Katherine
Karl's
Karl's eyes sparkled, his face alight with wonder.
"An angel?" he echoed, his voice barely above a whisper.
Katherine's gaze met his, her eyes gleaming with a soft, ethereal light, like the first blush of dawn breaking across the horizon.
The Unveiled Truth
Behind Katherine stood a being of unimaginable beauty, with wings as white as freshly fallen snow, shimmering with a golden light, as if stars streaked across the sky. The wings, like a celestial wonder, left Karl awestruck.
"Take me to see the Gray Robes, the highest authority," Katherine's voice was low, husky, and carried the weight of the universe.
A Newfound Understanding
Karl's eyes had transcended, his perception of Katherine transformed.
"What...are you?" Karl asked, his voice laced with a mixture of confusion and curiosity.
"I am...God's servant, a messenger of the heavens, Remiel," Katherine's eyes sparkled, her voice now filled with conviction.
A Humble Request
"Bring me before the Gray Robed Wizard," Katherine's voice was laced with an otherworldly authority, her gaze never leaving Karl's.
"Understood the will of the heavens, I have come to claim you, Karl."
A Leap of Faith
Karl's eyes, wide with trepidation, took a step forward.
