Chapter 1082: Welcome for the New God
Chapter 1082: Welcome for the New God
Dewen’s dark room contained some fairly valuable items. First, the evidence that Godwin was from the Satellite was temporarily taken by Youxuan, though Dewen didn’t really mind. However, since he was currently using Godwin’s identity, it was best to confiscate anything that could harm him.
It would also serve as a form of tribute to the late Godwin.
Dewen’s own crimes were also quite useful. If these were made public, the so-called Paradise Movement would crumble from its roots. All members would realize how hypocritical Dewen was, how he never treated them like family, and how from the beginning, he only thought about how to exploit their value.
But not now. It wasn’t the right time to expose these things.
Just then, Youxuan felt a slight tremor in one of the card boxes he carried.
The aura was somewhat familiar and carried a hint of evil. Youxuan’s mind flickered, and he opened the card box, drawing out a card.
Earthbound God Viracocha-Rasca.
The Earthbound God had been seized from Godwin, but it had remained dormant since Youxuan obtained it.
Youxuan had only glanced at the card briefly at the time and hadn’t had the chance to study it further due to other matters. However, he thought it was normal for the Earthbound God to remain inactive.
In the original series, Earthbound Gods were special god-level spirits. They were usually in a dormant state, and summoning them in a Duel wasn’t a simple task.
Apart from the requirement of "sacrificing two monsters" as a condition of the Duel rules, Earthbound Gods also needed souls.
As seen in the Duel between Godwin and Youxuan, when the Earthbound God card was summoned, it appeared as a heart-shaped stone, continuously absorbing souls from the surrounding area centered on the Duel field.
All ordinary people within the coverage area during the Duel would have their souls forcefully taken by the Earthbound God as a sacrifice for its arrival. However, Duelists engaged in combat with the Earthbound God were immune, as the rules of the Duel protected them. Even a god couldn’t forcibly disconnect a Duelist until their Life Points reached zero.
Despite this sinister trait, Youxuan felt that the Earthbound Gods were less evil compared to the various gods in the Yu-Gi-Oh! series.
The Dark Signers, for instance, were all tragic figures, exploited by the gods after their deaths, brought back to life with the power of the Earthbound Gods to battle the Dragon Signers.
Interestingly, after the Dark Signers’ arc in the anime, all the souls consumed by the Earthbound Gods were returned unharmed, with no side effects or memory loss.
Moreover, the Dark Signers, who were supposed to be dead, continued to live after the Earthbound Gods were defeated. Not only that, but any pre-existing illnesses or even terminal conditions were cured without any side effects.
Because of this, the Earthbound Gods, among the various deities in Yu-Gi-Oh!, gave off a somewhat naive impression. In a world where gods were everywhere, such benevolent beings were truly a breath of fresh air.
However, since the Earthbound God had been inactive until now, the sudden surge of power was unexpected.
Youxuan’s mind flickered again as he held the card, gently closing his eyes. His consciousness spread out, extending his thoughts into the card.
In a space of darkness, patterns resembling burning lines appeared. These lines crisscrossed, forming a massive pattern in the endless void, akin to the Nazca Lines.
The pattern quickly materialized, and a pair of enormous wings unfurled before him, as if blocking out the sky and sun. The Condor Earthbound God stretched out its massive body in front of him, its entire form bathed in a deep blue flame.
Earthbound God Viracocha-Rasca!
The Earthbound God lifted its head and let out a roar that resonated with divine power, echoing through the realm of consciousness, seemingly reaching the depths of Darkness.
However, Youxuan detected a clear message in that awe-inspiring voice.
Hungry.
Ant, feed me!
Youxuan: "."
As expected.
He had his suspicions earlier, and now they were confirmed. The reason the Earthbound God, which had been dormant, was now active was likely because he had just used Darkness Duel to defeat Dewen.
Dewen's soul must have been devoured by this creature before it vanished.
From the commotion each Earthbound God caused when summoned, it was evident that they were all insatiable eaters. However, what they craved was souls, and their appetites were enormous, capable of consuming a large number of souls at once.
The last time Viracocha-Rasca was summoned, it thought it would finally have a feast. But its owner was too weak and lost the duel, letting the souls slip away at the last moment.
If it hadn't even had a taste, it would have been one thing. But to have the food right in front of its face and still not be able to eat it was incredibly frustrating.
So now, it decided to assert its dominance over this newcomer.
Do you want power, young one?
If you want power, embrace death and offer your new master delicious souls! That way, you will gain the power to do as you please!
However, just as the Earthbound God was confidently trying to recruit a follower, it suddenly felt a chill run down its spine.
The giant condor paused, slowly turning its head.
It froze.
Behind it, two groups had formed. On the left were the Imperial Flame Emperor, Imaginary Emperor, and Thunder Emperor. On the right were the Eraser, Root of Fear, and Divine Incarnation.
The Three Emperors: No way, are all the newbies this bold now? They've only been here a few days and already they're trying to give orders?
The Three Yeshen: To be fair, we three haven't acknowledged this guy as our master yet, but who are you to speak? When did it become your turn?
The Strongest Earthbound God: "."
How did I end up in the hands of such an extraordinary Duelist?
How can so many powerful beings be gathered in one place?
And as a Yeshen, it could feel that its own malevolent aura was being suppressed by the opposite side. The divine power and the abyssal, endlessly cold Darkness emanating from those six were clearly far superior to its own.
The Earthbound God was instantly filled with terror.
Wait, what's the deal with this Duelist?
Could they be a Yeshen in disguise?
And from the looks of it, they might be a legendary Yeshen on the level of Zorc.
Youxuan slid the Earthbound God card back into his deck.
Hmm, it seems the welcome party for the new god has begun. I'm sure the spirits will get along just fine.
Youxuan left the room, even remembering to close the bookshelf, hiding the secret door, and then retraced his steps.
However, he hadn't taken more than a few steps when a deafening explosion shook the building. A powerful shockwave swept through the entire structure, and a violent wind almost destroyed everything in its path.
Youxuan narrowed his eyes and saw that the floor, now almost completely empty, was filled with invisible aura emanating from Shizukanae, who walked toward him with red eyes, her voice trembling as she demanded, "Was it you... who killed Dewen?"
"Was it you... who killed Dewen?"
