Chapter 108: Spatial Shift
Chapter 108: Spatial Shift
A first-year student who bonded with two familiars?! And they're a Fire-type and a Ghost-type?!
The Security Guard couldn't help but wonder if he had heard correctly.
But today was indeed the day for the Elite Beastmaster Class's intensive training registration.
The Security Guard was a bit dazed. He was a Beastmaster himself, though his level wasn't high, he had graduated from a proper Beastmaster High School.
He had never seen a first-year high school student bond with two familiars in real life, despite living for so many years.
But he had seen it in the news...
The Security Guard composed himself. As the security for the city's top Beastmaster middle school, he couldn't act like he was seeing something for the first time.
"Please show me your ID card."
Qiao Sang handed over her ID card.
The Security Guard stared at the screen, double-checking.
She hadn't repeated a grade, nor had she skipped any classes. She was a perfect 15-year-old junior high school graduate.
This was a genius among geniuses. If nothing went wrong, her future was bound to be bright.
He slowed down his registration process and said warmly, "Qiao Sang, your name sounds really nice."
"Thank you", Qiao Sang scratched her head.
"Really, it does. I register so many names every day, but yours really stood out."
Qiao Sang felt a bit embarrassed. She had been praised for her looks before, and recently for her talent, but no one had ever complimented her name so sincerely.
"My great-grandmother also had the name Sang. No wonder I felt so close to you as soon as I saw you."
Qiao Sang: "..."
The Security Guard realized he had said the wrong thing. He usually said such things to his superiors, not to a child.
He laughed awkwardly and said, "You're here for the intensive training, right? Let me call Teacher Xian to come and pick you up."
They were sending a teacher to pick her up? This was quite the treatment.
Qiao Sang was a bit taken aback. Before she could decline, the Security Guard had already dialed the number.
"Hello, this is the South Gate security office. A first-year student named Qiao Sang has come to register for the intensive training. Could you please come and pick her up?"
How fast...
It seemed like he didn't even need to look up the number; it was right at the top.
"Xun."
The Treasure Seeker on Qiao Sang's head suddenly sensed something and looked in a certain direction.
The air seemed to distort in that direction.
In the next second, a familiar with loose, wrinkled skin, multiple gray and pink patches, a white belly, and large, wing-like ears appeared out of nowhere. It was holding a few sheets of paper in its claws.
Qiao Sang was momentarily stunned by the sudden appearance of the familiar. It looked familiar, but she couldn't name it. She only knew it was a Psychic Pet.
Her heart raced. The familiar seemed to have used Spatial Shift, not Teleport.
Teleport was a skill that allowed the user to instantly move to another location. It could be countered by sealing the space.
In simpler terms, if the familiar was in a room and the door was closed, it could only move within that room.
Spatial Shift, however, could bypass three-dimensional space and move to any other coordinate.
The difference between the two was significant.
The Alliance's classification made it clear: Teleport was an Intermediate Skill, while Spatial Shift was an Advanced Skill.
"Ya!"
Fangflare bared its fangs, ready to defend against the sudden appearance of the familiar.
The large-eared familiar ignored Fangflare's reaction, glanced at Qiao Sang, and then flipped through the papers in its claws one by one.
Qiao Sang’s familiar stopped after a few steps, its large ears twitching as it glanced at the page in its hand and then at Qiao Sang, seemingly confirming something.
"Teacher Xian, her name is Qiao Sang", the Security Guard reminded.
Qiao Sang was a bit dazed. So, Teacher Xian was talking about the familiar all along...
Upon reflection, it wasn’t unheard of for familiars to be teachers in the Beast Trainer Society. However, their students were usually other familiars.
These familiars could become teachers primarily because their Beastmasters held positions at the school.
"Xian."
Teacher Xian nodded, holding the paper in its left paw and waving its right paw upward.
Qiao Sang felt a sudden darkness before her eyes, followed by a dizzying sensation.
When her vision cleared, she found herself in a room with an office layout.
Qiao Sang was shocked.
Teacher Xian’s Spatial Shift could actually bring someone along! It must have reached the Perfect proficiency!
After all, without a Golden Finger, it wasn’t easy for a Level familiar to master an Advanced Skill to perfection.
"Student Qiao Sang, it’s been a while", a deep male voice sounded from beside her.
Qiao Sang turned her head to see a middle-aged man with a perfectly slicked-back hairstyle sitting behind a desk, with Teacher Xian beside him. In front of him sat a boy who had once participated in the Special Admission Exam with her.
"Hello, Vice Principal", Qiao Sang quickly said.
She immediately recognized the speaker.
Thanks to the Awakening of the Beastmaster Codex, her memory had improved significantly, and she rarely forgot people or things she had encountered.
Most importantly, the Vice Principal was the first A-Class Breeder she had met, and he had once guided her.
Liu Yao, upon seeing Qiao Sang turn around, was initially taken aback, then straightened his back and leaned forward, squinting his eyes.
"Student Qiao Sang, is this a Treasure Seeker?"
"It’s my second familiar."
"Damn!"
Before Liu Yao could process this information, the boy in front of him exclaimed in shock.
"Lu Liangye, watch your language", Liu Yao glanced at him.
Lu Liangye immediately closed his mouth and made a zipping motion over his lips.
This news was truly shocking, causing him to blurt out a curse in front of the Vice Principal...
Liu Yao stood up and approached Qiao Sang, staring intently at the Treasure Seeker for a moment before shifting his gaze to Fangflare.
Fangflare, who had been looking around in amazement at the sudden change in surroundings, noticed someone staring at her and lifted her chin, displaying her sharp fangs in a cool pose.
Liu Yao found it more and more unbelievable.
Just as he was about to say something, he realized there was another student present and returned to his office chair. "I was just explaining to Lu Liangye. Since you’re here, you can listen in."
Qiao Sang nodded.
"This intensive training will involve a total of 12 people, not all of whom are from the Elite Beastmaster Class. You were chosen for this intensive training not because of your outstanding Exam scores. You should know that your High School Entrance Exam results were only slightly above the minimum passing score."
Qiao Sang and Lu Liangye exchanged a knowing look.
So, his academic scores weren’t high either.
Lu Liangye felt a lot more balanced.
"However, that’s not important. The purpose of this intensive training is not to improve your academic scores, but to form a team capable of defeating Litan Beastmaster High School", Liu Yao said.
