Chapter 1075: Furrowing the Brow, Not Simple
Chapter 1075: Furrowing the Brow, Not Simple
In one of the other grand halls of the palace, cries of revelry and laughter intertwined.
At the main seat sat two colossi—one with twin horns and dragon whiskers fluttering wildly, the other with a simple grin and a round, ball-like body.
Kaido!
And Charlotte·Big Mom!
"Mamamama, your daughter ran off!" Charlotte·Big Mom raised her wine cup, watching the bustling scene below with a chuckle. She tilted her head back, downing the cup in one gulp.
Gulp! Gulp! Gulp!
At the same time, Kaido hoisted his own cup and drank deeply, the sound of his throat working loudly.
Crash!
The moment he finished, Kaido’s eyes flared as he smashed the cup into a thousand shards, the sharp sound echoing across the hall.
"It’s my son!" he roared, glaring at Big Mom. "Yamato, that bastard, dared to escape so easily! And Luffy’s crew had the nerve to wreck the Old Man’s venue. Next time I capture him, I’ll carve him up!"
"Mamamama, they’re like ground mice—so hard to catch!" Charlotte·Big Mom laughed. "Unlike someone like Kuro, who’s easy prey."
"Hmph! He wouldn’t have escaped if it were him", Kaido snapped angrily. "And don’t bring that name up—what you did to him, you know full well! Rabbit Daimyo still hasn’t recovered!"
"Mamamama." Charlotte·Big Mom chuckled again, her tone darkening. "If I meet Kuro again, I’ll settle the score myself!"
"Kaido’s officer!"
Suddenly, a pirate barged in, trembling as he rushed forward holding a newspaper.
"Hmph? What’s so urgent?!"
Kaido’s eyes narrowed, his fists clenching as if ready to crush the pirate if this were trivial.
The pirate flinched but shoved the paper into Kaido’s hands. "A sudden report—it’s about… the Navy’s Golden Lion!"
"Golden Lion? Kuro?!"
Kaido’s eyes bulged. With two fingers, he seized the tiny-for-him newspaper, unfolded it, and gnashed his teeth.
Charlotte·Big Mom leaned in, her face darkening.
Kuro? World’s Greatestgreatest Swordsman?
That alone was infuriating enough. But their eyes locked onto another headline at the bottom of the page. The paper was split into three sections—the largest dedicated to Kuro’s new title, and the smaller one drawing their fury:
[Wano Country’s Two Four Emperors Fall to Golden Lion!]
The article detailed Kuro’s invasion of Wano, his battle against the two Emperors, and his effortless retreat.
While mostly true, the details were skewed. Only they knew the real combat conditions—the stalemate, Kuro’s timely withdrawal. If he’d lingered, he’d have been trapped. Yet here he was, escaping.
"Damned Kuro!" Kaido gritted his teeth. "Since when did I ever lose to him?!"
"Mamamama!!" Charlotte·Big Mom’s bloodshot eyes narrowed. "Next time we meet Kuro… he dies!"

On an island in the New World…
Boom!!
A shockwave rippled across the island, shaking the ground. At a flat clearing, four figures sat around a crackling campfire, their faces illuminated.
One wore a uniform with a cap, a cigar dangling from his lips.
Another, a burly woman with a cruel grin and a long nose.
A third, a gaunt man with a monocle.
The last, a squat man with a crutch and a chef’s tall hat, his face painted like a Harlequin.
The current captains of the Blackbeard Pirates: Shiryu, Daidon, Van Augur, and Laffitte.
Nearby, a hulking figure swung a massive fist, the shockwave echoing across the island.
"World’s Greatestgreatest Swordsman, huh?" Shiryu exhaled a smoke ring, staring at the newspaper. The firelight revealed Kuro’s arrogant, rugged face.
Once, he’d scoffed at such a title—during Marineford, they’d clashed, evenly matched. But after witnessing Kuro’s might at G-3…
"He really is something now", Shiryu muttered.
"Ugh. That Kuro sure stirs up trouble", Daidon sneered, his voice dripping with malice.
"Fate’s cruel joke", Van Augur sighed, glancing at another headline.
Alongside Kuro’s duel with the Four Emperors was the report of Blackbeard’s annihilation:
[Golden Lion Vice Admiral Crushes Blackbeard Pirates at G-3 Fortress! Blackbeard’s Fate Unknown!]
The reason for Blackbeard’s earlier rage.
"Heh. Seems someone underestimated you, Captain", Laffitte smirked, adjusting his hat.
Blackbeard turned, his missing-teeth grin widening. "Blackbeard’s laugh! We lost—what can I say? But someday…" He stared at Kuro’s face. "We’ll return, stronger. Let him enjoy his glory—until he lets his guard down."

At the Headquarters…
The breeze carried the newspapers, one landing on the table before Sakazuki.
Sakazuki glanced at it, smirking as he looked toward Kuro. "Kuro, you’ve outdone yourself. Well done."
"Oho… scary indeed", Lucius Kro muttered, frowning at the paper.
"What’s this? What’s wrong?" Garp snatched the paper, scanning it before barking a laugh. "Puahaha! Finally made the headlines! Impressive!"
Sengoku and Hakuto smiled knowingly.
Kuro frowned. Something felt off.
A flick of his finger sent the second paper swirling into his hands. His eyes widened at the headline:
[World’s Greatestgreatest Swordsman Crowned anew!]
[Wano’s Two Fall to Golden Lion!]
[Golden Lion Vice Admiral Obliterates Blackbeard at G-3!]
Familiar events—but why the repeat?
"What the…? Who printed this? Didn’t they already report this?!" Kuro blinked, baffled.
