Chapter 1071: Cheng Yaojin
Chapter 1071: Cheng Yaojin
September 25, 2017
Youzhou, outside Lingzhi City, within the Necroarmy.
As the Taoist talisman in Lu HaiKong's hand emitted a brilliant glow, one of the five formidable opponents was brutally overwhelmed by his power. The five foreign demons, who had been arrogant and fearless, suddenly froze, all except for one who had been flattened and seemingly vanished, leaving only a pool of blood.
It was indeed a shock for the remaining four, as they witnessed their strongest companion fall with a single strike. Despite being shrouded in the blood-red mist, their tension and astonishment were palpable.
This reaction was understandable. Who could have foreseen that the seemingly trapped prey would transform into a man-eating tiger, tearing away its disguise in an instant? The four demons, experienced as they were, had been caught off guard by Lu HaiKong's sudden move.
After a moment of shock, the four quickly recovered and regrouped, a wise decision given the circumstances. Although they knew Lu HaiKong's strike had come from the item in his hand, they were unsure how many more attacks of that caliber he could unleash.
They were well aware that whether they chose to flee or continue the assault, they would be helpless against Lu HaiKong unless they could control him. Their only option was to huddle together, for even two of them combined would be unable to withstand another strike from Lu HaiKong.
Noticing their reaction, Lu HaiKong's lips curled into a cold smile. "That's right, this is the emotion I want to see—tension, worry, and a hint of confusion. I quite enjoy your current attitude."
As Lu HaiKong spoke, Pan Feng's warhorse beneath him neighed and charged towards the scholar in front of them. Lu HaiKong hadn't forgotten their original objective.
Upon seeing Pan Feng's attack, the scholar's face paled, and the four foreign demons behind him stirred restlessly. They understood that if the scholar fell, it would spell the end for the Necroarmy. Despite their late arrival, they had witnessed the battle and knew the terror of the Black Gale Cavalry. If the scholar's berserk trait was disrupted, the Necroarmy would be utterly helpless.
Just as the four demons were about to spring into action, Lu HaiKong's sarcastic voice interrupted them. "I advise you to stay put and behave, or else a slight tremble from my hand might bring about unforeseen consequences."
The four demons shuddered at Lu HaiKong's words, and their previously restless movements ceased.
Satisfied, Lu HaiKong smiled. "That's more like it. This is how it should be..."
However, Lu HaiKong's words were abruptly cut short, and his smile froze. A shadow had appeared beneath him, and he found himself unable to move.
At that moment, one of the four demons across from him let out a cold laugh. "A mere outsider with a strength of 90, thinking you can do whatever you want just because you have an item?"
As soon as these words were spoken, the other three demons realized that Lu HaiKong was under control. Without hesitation, two of them lunged towards Lu HaiKong and Dian Wei, while the third charged at Pan Feng.
As they attacked, a cold smile crept onto their blood-misted faces, believing the battle was as good as won.
However, they failed to notice the demon who had stayed behind to control Lu HaiKong. This demon's face contorted in shock, and with a tremendous effort, he shouted, "Not good! Retreat quickly! I can't control him anymore!"
The sudden shout startled the three attacking demons, who had yet to react. Meanwhile, Lu HaiKong's previously frozen smile returned, and he laughed even more heartily.
"Retreat? I went through so much trouble to lure them out, and now they think they can escape so easily?" Lu HaiKong said. As he spoke, a blue Taoist talisman in his hand flashed with light, and a giant blue hand appeared out of thin air, striking towards the two figures shrouded in blood mist who were charging at Lu HaiKong and Dian Wei.
With a loud slap, the two, despite their heightened alertness, attempted to defend themselves against the giant blue hand, but to no avail. This was no ordinary strike.
The giant blue hand was the Primordial Breath Tao Talisman that Lu HaiKong had obtained from the mysterious Taoist who was taught by the system. He had already used it up in the First Emperor's Tomb, but luck was on his side as he found an Item Repair Token in the Mystic Cottage, allowing him to restore the talisman.
With the help of the Item Repair Token, Lu HaiKong successfully repaired the Primordial Breath Tao Talisman.
This giant blue hand was equivalent to the full power of the mysterious Taoist, who was as fragile as a baby in front of the system, but a terrifying giant against these four foreign demons.
With a single strike, even two Blood Demon Generals couldn't withstand it and were directly slapped into the ground, their blood mist dissipating and both spitting out fresh blood.
Lu HaiKong skillfully executed the 'Take Advantage of Your Illness' skill, and as the two fell to the ground, Dian Wei immediately rushed forward and violently struck them with his halberd.
"Boom!"
In an instant, the two unlucky ones were slammed into the earth.
Unfortunately, just as they were about to deliver the finishing blow, the two transformed into a pool of blood and disappeared into the ground.
In the 16th chapter of the 9th book, a flawless version!
"They escaped? I didn't expect these guys to be so hard to catch."
Upon seeing this, Lu HaiKong's eyebrows twitched, but he quickly relaxed.
"Forget it, they got away. Taking down five with a single Primordial Breath Tao Talisman is still a decent achievement. Three ran away, but there are still three left here."
As he spoke, Lu HaiKong casually put away the now-useless Primordial Breath Tao Talisman and looked at the remaining two, who were stunned, as well as the scholar who had been knocked out by Pan Feng's axe during Lu HaiKong's outburst. A satisfied smile appeared on Lu HaiKong's face.
Then, Lu HaiKong turned his gaze towards the figure shrouded in a thin layer of blood-red mist, holding a giant axe, and beckoned him, "Weren't you going to teach me how to use the axe? I'm in the mood now, so come and show me what you've got, just like Pan Feng."
Calm and casual, Lu HaiKong didn't consider the two remaining figures as worthy opponents. In his eyes, these two, or rather, the foreign demons, seemed like easy prey, like meat on a cutting board.
This attitude from Lu HaiKong naturally annoyed the remaining two, but they dared not make any hasty moves. It wasn't just because Lu HaiKong had swiftly defeated their three experts earlier.
More importantly, they realized that Lu HaiKong had let the previous two escape because he had set his sights on them.
They had a sense that they wouldn't be able to use their warrior traits in this region anymore.
This battle was about to get tough!
The two remaining figures exchanged a glance, their faces turning solemn.
As they stared at each other without moving for a while, the coldness in Lu HaiKong's eyes intensified, and a golden light flickered in his gaze. After a moment of silence, he turned to Pan Feng and ordered, "It seems like they're too proud to take action. Pan Feng, you learned the Heavenly Trigram Thirty-Six Axes, so why don't you go and ask the main character for some advice? Let's see who's better, him or you?"
"Yes!"
Pan Feng raised his battle axe and charged directly towards the figure with the giant axe without hesitation.
At that moment, the figure was still in shock from Lu HaiKong's words, his face filled with disbelief, "How is this possible? How could he know who I am?"
Indeed, the foreign demon holding the giant axe was none other than Cheng Yaojin, the Sui-Tang hero who should never have appeared in this era!
