Chapter 107: The Journey Continues [520]
Chapter 107: The Journey Continues [520]
Despite Shizune and Rin's insistence, they eventually had to help Feng Ye to a secluded spot, awkwardly closing their eyes and turning their heads.
Feng Ye sighed.
The role of a medical ninja was indeed too reasonable to refute or decline.
After resolving the issue with their assistance, Feng Ye returned to the tent with their help. However, both Shizune and Rin's demeanor became noticeably unusual, and whenever their eyes met, their gazes would stiffen.
It wasn't until Kurenai Yuhi arrived with lunch that the tense atmosphere eased a little.
After lunch, it was time for casual conversation again. Throughout the morning and afternoon, Feng Ye learned about the missions and events that Kurenai, Rin, and Shizune had undertaken since their graduation from the academy up to the present day.
Feng Ye paid less attention to Kurenai's story and was more focused on Rin's, as the narrative involving Kakashi and Obito continued to develop in a positive direction.
"I wonder if Obito has already caught the attention of Uchiha Madara. If so, you're in danger as well."
Feng Ye mumbled to himself as he glanced at Rin from the corner of his eye.
Rin's situation was dire.
Even for him, it would be challenging to resolve it, as it involved dealing with the extremely troublesome existence of Uchiha Madara, as well as Black Zetsu and White Zetsu.
Even though Uchiha Madara was currently in a half-dead state, the fact that he couldn't control his own Reanimation jutsu meant that if they confronted him directly, he might pull out some forbidden technique and go all out.
At the very least...
Feng Ye would need to possess strength beyond that of a Kage to confidently interfere with this plotline.
As it stood, his strength had not yet peaked at the Kage level. Facing off against the likes of the Third Raikage or Killer B, the jinchuriki of the Eight-Tails, would be extremely difficult, and he was still far from achieving the super-Kage level.
If Uchiha Madara's actions were not going to be accelerated, that meant he still had about two more years to grow, and there was a chance he could reach the super-Kage level.
If he ultimately failed to attain that level, he would have to find a way to keep Rin alive without confronting Uchiha Madara... Although there were many ways to resurrect the dead in this world, dying was never a pleasant experience, and if he could prevent it, he would certainly try.
"I guess I have to keep training."
Feng Ye smiled helplessly in his mind.
He had thought that after reaching the Kage level, he could finally relax. This experience as an injured person was his way of unwinding after the exhausting cycle of training and battles. However, it seemed like he could only afford to relax for a few days.
As it stood, if he only considered himself, he could indeed slow down his training pace and take a more relaxed approach to life. But unfortunately, he found that he couldn't ignore the plotlines that he knew would unfold.
To interfere with the plot and save others, he needed strength beyond what was necessary for self-preservation.
That was always the case, no matter the world.
"What's wrong, Feng Ye? You seem to have something on your mind." Rin noticed Feng Ye's slight abnormality and tilted her head in curiosity.
Feng Ye snapped out of his thoughts and smiled at her. "It's nothing. I was just thinking about how to bring peace to this world and end the wars."
This statement left Kurenai, Rin, and Shizune staring blankly for a moment.
"I've never thought about that kind of thing before."
If it were an ordinary ninja considering such matters, it would be like trying to reach for something unattainable. But from Feng Ye's current standpoint, he indeed had the qualifications to contemplate such issues, and this couldn't help but evoke a sense of admiration from the three of them.
Seeing their reactions, Feng Ye couldn't help but find their admiration amusing.
Peace didn't exist.
Nuclear peace was more like it.
Should Naruto and Sasuke perish, and the Six Paths and super-shadow-level powers vanish from the ninja world, war would undoubtedly brew and erupt once more.
Peace is founded on strength.
Throughout the history of the ninja world, this has always been the case. The First Hokage was able to bring an end to the Warring States period, not because of his ideals or thoughts, but because he possessed strength that surpassed the entire ninja world.
With this in mind, Feng Ye lowered his hands, braced himself against the ground, and slowly stood up.
When Shizune, Kurenai, and Yuhi noticed this, they hurried over to support him, but Feng Ye shook his head, stood up on his own, and took a couple of steps forward.
"Are you alright, Feng Ye?!" Yuhi exclaimed, a hint of surprise in her voice.
Feng Ye turned to her and smiled. "Not quite yet, but I'm mostly recovered and should be back to normal by tomorrow."
After a full morning and afternoon, with the cells in his body revitalized, he had regained most of his strength. Although lazing around some more wouldn't hurt, he had had enough of being taken care of.
Feng Ye walked out of the tent and gazed into the distance at the sky.
The sun was setting, and only half of its glowing orb remained visible on the horizon.
Nearby ninjas who noticed Feng Ye stepping out of the tent looked at him with respectful eyes, a stark contrast from when he had first arrived.
Sensing the admiring gazes around him, Feng Ye smiled faintly and continued to stare at the last rays of the setting sun until it disappeared behind the mountain peaks.
...
The days spent in Tsunade's camp did not last long.
After just two nights, on the third day, Feng Ye was sent back to his own tent by Tsunade. Although he hadn't fully recovered to the point of engaging in regular combat or training, he was still much stronger than an ordinary person and could move about without any issues.
Feng Ye felt a slight twinge of regret about this.
By the fifth day, his body had completely healed, and the Leaf Village's camp began to be dismantled from the outside in, with ninjas returning to the village in batches.
After the Sand Village's crushing defeat, the Wind Country surrendered to the Fire Country, paying a hefty war indemnity and signing several treaties. The Fire Country's feudal lord conveyed a desire for peace to Hiruzen Sarutobi, who accepted and began withdrawing the frontline troops in batches.
Inside the tent,
Tsunade looked at Feng Ye and asked, "Are you returning to the Leaf Village?"
Feng Ye smiled brightly and replied, "Aren't I going to learn medical ninjutsu from you, Teacher Tsunade? Of course, I'll be going with you."
Returning to the village at this time might bring about some trouble.
With the strength he had displayed, Hiruzen Sarutobi's attitude towards him had likely shifted from protection to neutrality. If Danzo were to suddenly target him, there was a possibility of things taking an unexpected turn, given the sheer number of forbidden techniques and secret arts at Danzo's disposal.
Therefore, staying away from the village for now was the safest option.
Learning medical ninjutsu from Tsunade provided the perfect reason for his absence, one that neither Danzo nor Hiruzen Sarutobi could easily refute.
With his newfound status, coupled with Tsunade's presence and Orochimaru on his side, Feng Ye had become an entity that even Hiruzen Sarutobi couldn't casually manipulate or control in broad daylight.
To deal with him, they would have to resort to the methods used against White Fang.
