Chapter 107: Face-to-Face
Chapter 107: Face-to-Face
The cause of this effect was none other than Rain's upgraded Roar Strike, now at Level 2!
Although, from a sensory perspective, the six individuals felt as if they had been deafened and dazed by the shock, and the time it took for them to regain consciousness seemed quite long.
However, in reality, all six of them were at least Level 3 Knight Squires or above in strength, so their bodies only halted for about half a second.
But in that half-second, for a battle between experts, it was already enough to decide far too many things," Rain said with a glint in his eye.
"Swoosh!" A silver arc of light flashed across the air, and the sound of heavy objects falling to the ground echoed repeatedly.
Four Chainmail Men, each wielding different weapons, were all sliced in two by Rain's strike. Some were cut in half at the waist, while others were diagonally sliced due to their weapon-wielding postures. One was even split open from the chest, starting at the elbow, but without exception, they were all divided into two segments.
"Ahhhh!" The four Chainmail Men, not dying instantly from being cut in two, writhed and howled in agony on the ground.
Furthermore, due to their extraordinary vitality, they could scream in such agony for several minutes.
The Plate Armor Man holding a chain hammer was relatively lucky. Rain's sword had just grazed the lower edge of his helmet, beheading him instantly, so he didn't have to endure the agonizing screams on the ground.
Meanwhile, the Swordshield Man with a steel shield was now as pale as dirt. His kite-shaped shield had been cleaved in two, one half falling to the ground and the other still clutched in his hand.
Because he had been vigilant from the start and hadn't attacked with full force, instead maintaining a certain distance, he was the only one among the six to survive.
He finally understood how his boss had met his end.
Their opponent's strike was simply beyond their level of defense.
The Swordshield Man, driven insane, shouted, "Knight!"
"You must be a full-fledged Knight!"
But in the next moment, instead of a response from Rain, he received a powerful leap strike from Rain.
Rain leaped into the air and delivered a powerful leap strike toward the Swordshield Man, who barely managed to block it with his Knight's Longsword, resulting in a loud "clang" as the sword bent, and the man was sent flying.
"Pfft!"
Before the Swordshield Man could even land, Rain followed up with a greatsword thrust, piercing through the gap in his plate armor at the neck and finishing him off.
Rain's previous roar, like thunder, had startled the Night Watch elite who were about to rescue the children, causing them to turn back and witness the scene.
Mateo and the Night Watch elite were left speechless by what they saw.
"This..." they muttered.
They knew Rain was a formidable fighter, but neither during the previous fishman extermination nor when he killed the Mountain Borer had he displayed such immense power.
The way his body seemed to break through limitations was no wonder those men thought Rain was a Knight.
If they were in his shoes, they would have thought the same.
"Rain, have you become a full-fledged Knight?" asked a Night Watch member who had a good relationship with Rain, his voice filled with uncertainty.
At that moment, Rain had already regained his normal physique. Seeing everyone's astonished gazes, he shook his head, half-truthfully and half-jokingly, saying,
"I'm not a full-fledged Knight yet."
"That was just a secret technique, probably because of the unique breathing technique I practice."
Upon hearing this, everyone nodded in acknowledgment.
It seemed...
Perhaps...
Well, if Rain said so, it must be true!
Rain had just unleashed his 'Power Surge', 'Mammoth Roar Level 2', and with his newly crafted 'Radiant Greatsword', he swiftly cleared the area in just three seconds!
Not only did he astonish his fellow Night Watch members, but he also scared the archer who had been guarding the two carriages, nearly petrifying him.
When the archer snapped out of his daze, he found himself surrounded by the group, with their bows aimed at him.
Helpless, he had no choice but to lower his weapon and surrender, raising his hands in defeat.
He didn't want to end up like those still howling on the ground; it was too miserable!
The other Night Watch members quickly rescued the children who had been abducted.
Rain, having used 'Power Surge' for only three seconds and slightly enhancing his Constitution beforehand, experienced minimal aftereffects.
After some thought, Rain felt that the screams might have frightened the children.
So, he approached the men on the ground and swiftly put them out of their misery, searching their bodies for any valuables.
Looking at the pile of heavy money bags in his hands, Rain shook his head.
It was a pity they didn't have any other combat skill outlines to offer.
Indeed, the reason why underlings often fell short of their leaders was evident in their lack of enthusiasm for learning.
Suddenly, Rain's gaze turned southward.
In the distance, the two-story farmhouse at Sterwin Farm was engulfed in raging flames. The inner flame was not the usual red or pale yellow but a dark black, which immediately reminded Rain of the Black Flame Cultivator.
Judging by the faint sounds of battle, the Black Flame Cultivator was clearly overpowering Hamal.
After a moment's contemplation, Rain spoke in a deep voice, "Mateo, leave a few people to watch over the children. We'll go support Hamal first!"
Leaning on his agility and the high-quality steel shield, Hamilton became a living target for his opponent.
Indeed!
A living target! Anyone witnessing their battle would have the same thought.
The Black Flame Adept, with black flames encircling both his hands, didn't even need to draw a weapon. With a black flame strike from his left hand and another from his right, he forced Hamilton to jump and dodge, unable to withstand the powerful dark flames.
Hamilton's initially smooth steel shield now bore numerous dents, two of which were especially deep, almost piercing through the shield.
These dents were the result of Hamilton's initial attempt to block the Black Flame strikes directly! After enduring two such blows, Hamilton dared not take them head-on again.
The Black Flame's attack power was terrifying, accompanied by a strong corrosive effect, even more potent than what he had experienced in his brief encounter with another Black Flame Adept.
It almost pierced through his steel shield in one go.
Why didn't Hamilton charge forward? Because at this distance, he could still dodge, but if he closed the gap, the Black Flame's accuracy would increase significantly.
As the Black Flame Adept Mort attacked, he mocked, "Is this the so-called Imperial Knight? The Sheriff who safeguards the town's safety?"
"You dare not face my attacks head-on but only dare to roll around like a wild boar on the ground. What a disappointment!"
"Perhaps you should rename yourself the Boar Knight!"
However, when a loud human roar echoed from the north, Mort's expression changed abruptly, and he cursed, "You useless bunch, can't you even handle one person?"
The roar was unmistakably human.
More importantly, the voice was unfamiliar to him, indicating that it must be the enemy causing the commotion.
Mort's heart sank at the thought of losing over twenty 'materials' and the impending punishment from the High Priest.
Hamilton seized the opportunity, his eyes lighting up.
Taking advantage of Mort's sudden distraction, Hamilton unleashed his Breaking Limit, transforming into an arrow released from a bowstring, charging directly at his opponent.
His muscles bulged, not as exaggerated as Rain's, but uniquely, Hamilton's speed also increased significantly.
It seemed to be a balanced Extraordinarily ability, enhancing both strength and agility.
"Flash Strike!" Hamilton roared, and his Knight's Longsword seemed to transcend time and space, appearing before the Black Flame Adept.
Mort was both shocked and furious, realizing his carelessness had put him in such a perilous situation.
"Seeking death!" Mort exclaimed, simultaneously dodging and hurling two Black Flame strikes at Hamilton.
"Bang!"
Mort's abdomen was pierced by Hamilton's Knight's Longsword, and after dodging one Black Flame strike, Hamilton couldn't evade the other, getting blasted away.
His steel shield shattered into pieces, and his Plate Gauntlet and Bracer were charred and damaged.
"Sizzle!"
Tiny black flames danced on the surface, emitting a fierce corrosive sound.
Mort quickly got up, clutching his abdomen, but his expression changed drastically the next moment.
He stared at Hamilton's Knight's Longsword, which now emanated a faint white light, and exclaimed, "A Radiant Stone Weapon?"
His wound seemed to be scorched by high heat, emitting wisps of black smoke, and the surface flesh underwent some bizarre transformation.
Without hesitation, Mort quickly retreated towards the safe point in the north.
At that moment, Hamilton was hurriedly removing his Bracer and Gauntlet, having discovered a stinging pain in his arm.
Several dark patches had appeared on his skin, and the blackness was deepening.
The Black Flame seemed to have an additional effect on flesh.
Hamilton's expression turned grim, he swung his Knight's Longsword to treat the charred wounds.
Only after cutting away the darkened flesh did the stinging sensation subside, and the blood flowing from the wound returned to a healthy red.
He heaved a sigh of relief, but when he looked up and saw the direction the Black Robed Cultivator had fled, his heart sank.
"Damn!" he thought, realizing the escape route was the same as Rain and Mateo's pursuit path.
Meanwhile, Rain and Mateo, along with over ten others, were swiftly heading towards Sterwin Farm when Rain's heart suddenly tightened, followed by a loud alarm from his Danger Sense Level 2, an intensity he had never experienced before.
Just as Rain was about to warn the group, a staggering figure appeared before them - the injured Black Flame Adept!
Rain's pupils contracted in shock.
They had unexpectedly encountered the wounded Black Flame Adept! The group's expressions changed drastically, and they aimed their bows at the Adept.
Mort, the Black Flame Adept, was seething with anger, and upon seeing the sudden appearance of the Night Watch group, a cruel and triumphant smile curved on his lips.
"Perfect! Time to let off some steam!"
