Chapter 106: Profound Techniques
Chapter 106: Profound Techniques
"Claw!"
Fangflare ran over excitedly, stopping in front of its Beastmaster. It pointed at the sky with its paw and then at the direction where Crimson Flame had just landed, gesturing wildly.
"Ya Ya!"
"Claw!"
Qiao Sang was still in a daze, while Treasure Seeker floated over to Fangflare, its face full of admiration.
"Seek!"
"Seek Seek!"
"Claw~"
Fangflare couldn't help but let its mouth curve upward in a smile. It raised its right front paw and waved it, though the gesture seemed to say "not really", its bright, beady eyes sparkled with anticipation as it looked at Treasure Seeker.
Treasure Seeker clearly understood Fangflare's true feelings and praised it even more enthusiastically.
"Seek Seek!"
"Seek!"
After a while, Qiao Sang's brain started to function again, working rapidly.
Why did it succeed?
By all logic, it shouldn't have been possible to learn so quickly. The speed of mastery was completely unscientific.
Of course, just because a Skill had been successfully released once didn't mean it had been fully mastered.
It might have been a one-off success due to a momentary opportunity, and it was likely that it wouldn't be able to release it again in the future.
But this situation didn't apply to Fangflare. Under the influence of the Golden Finger, it could successfully cast a Skill that had been successfully released once with 100% certainty every time.
But what was the opportunity that led to this success?
Relying solely on the idea of innate talent seemed too mystical. This was an Advanced Skill, so there must be other factors at play.
Qiao Sang reviewed the events of the day. Apart from running a marathon, Fangflare hadn't done anything else.
Could it be that physical exercise made the energy within its body more perceptible? Or did the potential triggered by Blazing Fire still have some residual effect?
It wasn't impossible. An improvement in one aspect of a familiar could potentially affect other aspects as well.
For example, eating well and gaining weight could make it easier to train Skills like Mountain Crush.
But it still felt unscientific that physical exercise and triggering Blazing Fire could lead to mastering Mars Rain.
Suddenly, Qiao Sang had an idea and accessed the Beastmaster Codex.
Level: Junior (935/1000) +
First Trait: Blazing Fire
Level: D (2/500), Status: (Difficult to Use), Description: (When status is below 1/4, potential is triggered, fire-type Skills increase by 2x, speed increases by 2x)
Skills: Bite (Novice 74/100) +, Ram (Proficient 498/500) +, Flame Fang (Minor Mastery 694/2000) +, Spark (Profound 10786/20000) +, Shadow Clone (Minor Mastery 1271/2000) +, Flame Vortex (Proficient 220/500) +, Blazing Charge (Proficient 165/500) +, Mars Rain (Novice 1/100)
Points: 786
Sometimes, things that were hard to understand became clear when you looked at the data.
In the past half-month, Fangflare had been focusing on training the release of the Spark Skill.
With the help of the F-Class Energy Recovery Serum, Fangflare could release Spark 640 times a day. It had just reached the Profound level for Spark the day before yesterday afternoon.
Skill proficiency was divided into six stages: Novice, Proficient, Minor Mastery, Mastery, Perfection, and Profound.
Profound was the highest level of Skill proficiency.
Looking at the data in the Beastmaster Codex, Qiao Sang's thoughts began to clear up.
Fangflare had already mastered a fire-type Skill to the Profound level, which meant its control over fire-type energy had reached a very high level. It had also just triggered Blazing Fire today.
Combining these two factors with Fangflare's innate talent, it seemed plausible that it had successfully released Mars Rain.
If that's the case, it's no wonder there are no examples of a Beginner Beast mastering an Advanced Skill.
After all, familiars have limited energy, and no Beastmaster would think of having their familiar hone a skill to the level of mastery at the Junior stage.
That's mastery proficiency!
Even for a basic skill, it would take years to achieve, and it would be more worthwhile to have the familiar evolve and train in higher-level skills.
The more Qiao Sang thought about it, the more she felt her analysis was on point.
She slowly raised her gaze.
[Level: Junior (935/1000) +]
Qiao Sang was taken aback. Fangflare had been wearing the E-Class Fire Concentration Pearl, gaining 7 points each day. Last night, it was at 905, but today it had jumped by 30 points.
Was it the Blazing Fire?
But now wasn't the time to think about that!
Qiao Sang quickly exited the Beastmaster Codex and squatted down to remove the Fire Condensing Pearl from Fangflare's neck.
She had been scared to death!
She hadn't noticed the daily point increases before, but now that it had jumped by 30 points at once, she realized the problem.
At this growth rate, she wouldn't even need to use her Golden Finger to increase points; Fangflare would break through on her own in about 10 days!
When she first became a Beastmaster, she never imagined that one day she would worry about her familiar evolving too quickly.
"Ya?"
Fangflare, still basking in the praise, looked at her Beastmaster with confusion.
"The current one no longer matches your status. I'll replace it with a more beautiful one before putting it back on you", Qiao Sang said solemnly.
"Ya."
Fangflare looked at the black, unremarkable string and nodded in agreement.
It was now a clan expert who had learned Mars Rain, and it was time to upgrade its equipment.
The Treasure Seeker glanced at its Beastmaster and silently took a step back, turning the Focus Bead 180 degrees to its back, afraid of being noticed.
...
Over the next few days, Fangflare practiced the Spark skill by the river, and also ran a few laps with the gravity ring it hadn't worn in a long time to improve its physical strength.
Fangflare had been motivated to practice Mars Rain by Thunder Swift, and now it was motivated to improve its physical strength by Marathon.
The practice of Mars Rain had come to a temporary halt.
The day after Fangflare mastered Mars Rain, Qiao Sang conducted the same test. Unlike other skills, Fangflare's clone couldn't sustain the release of Mars Rain.
After several trials, it was clear that for now, only the original Fangflare could perform Mars Rain.
Three times was its current limit.
And the Crimson Flame that burst from the Energy Orb was still sparse, just as Qiao Sang had guessed. The energy was not yet sufficient to form a rain-like quantity.
But this was an issue of energy accumulation, and it would be achieved eventually.
Qiao Sang told Fangflare not to worry, but she doubled the time she spent practicing Spirit Patterns on the Treasure Seeker's face each day.
There was no helping it; her two familiars were so capable, learning skills as if it were a game. If she didn't work harder, she felt she would have no face left.
By July 30th, after the evening training session, they returned to the room.
Fangflare, as usual, watched the combat matches.
The Treasure Seeker blinked its eyes by the bed.
"You're using teleportation. If you clench your fist and hold your breath before each move, you'd be much faster", Qiao Sang advised earnestly.
"Xun."
"Xun xun."
The Treasure Seeker pointed to its own behind.
Qiao Sang sighed, "I've told you countless times, you can't fart."
