Chapter 1055: The Card Game and the Thief's Scheme
Chapter 1055: The Card Game and the Thief's Scheme
"Magnet Warrior Alpha, Attack!"
Seeing the tiny magnet warrior recklessly charge towards the Solar Dragon, Godwin, though suspecting a trick, had no other choice. He shouted, "Solar Dragon Inti, knock it back!"
The Solar Dragon roared, and a molten energy surged from the core in its chest, converging in its four dragon mouths. It transformed into a blazing beam and shot out!
The outcome was as expected. The tiny magnet warrior, vastly outmatched, was engulfed by the Solar Dragon's flames before it could even get close. Its body melted in the flames, rapidly dissipating until it turned into molten iron and disappeared.
[You Xuan, LP 2500 → LP 1200]
The explosion's impact sent him stumbling backward, his back crashing into the glass wall behind him. The force shattered the glass into a web of cracks, and transparent vortices of smoke swirled backward.
Seeing no immediate reversal, the Solar Dragon effortlessly shattered the magnet warrior, Godwin sneered, "Have you lost your mind under the pressure of the Darkness Duel?"
You Xuan said, "Not necessarily."
Godwin: "What?"
Realizing something was amiss, he looked up sharply at his Solar Dragon. He saw the supposedly destroyed magnet warrior releasing a massive electromagnetic force, as if binding his Solar Dragon. Solar Dragon Inti's form flickered between solid and ethereal, like a poor-quality image, trembling uncontrollably.
Finally, the electromagnetic waves crackled and exploded, and the Solar Dragon could no longer hold on, dissipating into a phantom image.
Godwin was shocked, "Solar Dragon Inti, why!?"
The sun never dies. Even if it were eliminated by some special hidden effect, it would call back the Moon Shadow Dragon. And when the Moon Shadow Dragon fell, the sun would rise again. That's how it was supposed to work.
So why was his massive Solar Dragon gone?
It was then that he noticed the circular magnetic field beneath their feet, crackling with electrical arcs. His eyes narrowed, and he realized something, "Hyper Electromagnetic Field, this field!?"
"Oh? You noticed." You Xuan said, "Impressive. The Hyper Electromagnetic Field has another hidden effect. Once per turn, if a battle occurs between your Rock or Earth monsters and an opponent's monster, and the opponent's monster isn't destroyed, the damage calculation ends with that monster returning to the owner's hand."
Godwin: "!"
What kind of self-contained field is this?
Not only does it allow the magnet warriors to be revived from the graveyard each turn, but it also has this ability.
In other words, if the opponent places a weak Rock monster in defense mode, he can't just attack recklessly. Using a powerful monster to battle a weak Rock monster would result in a one-for-one trade.
And since the monster returns to the hand rather than being destroyed, his infinite cycle of the Sun and Moon Dragons is effectively broken.
Solar Dragon Inti, being a Synchro Monster, cannot return to the hand and is instead sent back to the Extra Deck. Without the Solar Dragon, the Moon Shadow Dragon in the graveyard becomes useless.
Godwin glared at You Xuan, his expression darkening.
This guy—did he know about my infinite regeneration combo with the Sun and Moon Dragons from the start?
But how could that be? How could he have known?
"The duel continues", You Xuan snapped his fingers. "Magnet Warrior Electromagnetic Fury, attack Godwin—or whoever is inside Godwin's body."
[Magnet Warrior Electromagnetic Fury, Attack Power 3000]
[Godwin, LP 3000]
Previously, Godwin had paid 1000 Life Points to Special Summon a Dark Tuner, leaving him with exactly 3000 Life Points. This strike would seal the match.
Magnet Warrior Electromagnetic Fury swung his sword, the air crackling with the sound of a thunderclap. The blade, enveloped in crackling electricity, whistled through the air. Godwin, dispelling his shock, shouted, "Then I activate my Cover Card!"
The Cover Card flipped, revealing a massive stone object hovering in front of him. The stone was covered in intricate patterns reminiscent of the Nazca lines, each line emitting an eerie purple glow.
Anyone familiar with the original 5D's series would recognize this as the heart-like object that appears whenever an Earthbound Immortal is summoned, the trump card of the Dark Signers.
At that moment, the floating stone, resembling the heart of an Earthbound Immortal, unleashed a burst of energy, forming a barrier of purple light. The Magnet Warrior's decisive strike collided with the barrier, causing ripples to spread out from the impact.
"The Offering of Honor can be activated when there are no monsters on my field and the opponent declares an attack", Godwin explained. "The attack is negated!
And then, I Special Summon two Offering Stone Monument Tokens to my field!"
The Magnet Warrior's sword was deflected, and the floating stone, having absorbed the impact, was enveloped in purple light. It split into two stone-like objects that landed on Godwin's field.

"And after that", Godwin continued with a cold smile, drawing a card from his deck, "I add an Earthbound Immortal to my hand."
As the card was automatically retrieved, a thunderous boom echoed from the sky outside, and the police station they were in seemed to tremble.
You Xuan narrowed his eyes.
An Earthbound Immortal. According to the original plot, Godwin shouldn't have the power of the Earthbound Immortal yet. But now that he has become a Dark Signer, it makes sense.
The Earthbound Immortal is the strongest trump card of the Dark Signers, far more powerful in the anime than in the real cards. All Earthbound Immortals can ignore any monsters on the opponent's field and directly attack the Duelist, and they are immune to any effects of Spell or Trap Cards. On top of this universal strength, each Earthbound Immortal has its own unique effect.
Their design is inspired by the Nazca lines in the Peruvian desert, representing gods bound to the earth.
The Offering of Honor is a dedicated Trap Card for Earthbound Immortals, used by Godwin in the original series. The real card retains similar effects but with additional restrictions.
In the real card game, the Offering of Honor can only be activated when the player's Life Points are 3000 or less, while in the anime, there is no such restriction. However, the real card can be activated when the opponent declares a direct attack, meaning it can counter an attack that bypasses the front row, like a submarine. In the anime, however, it can only be activated when there are no monsters on the player's field.
Additionally, the Tokens Special Summoned by this effect cannot be used as Synchro Materials in the real card game and can only be used to Tribute Summon an Earthbound Immortal. In the anime, there are no such restrictions, allowing the Tokens to be used as materials for other high-level monsters or Synchro Summons.
You Xuan narrowed his eyes again.
From this perspective, the card is quite valuable. Free Tokens that can be used for various purposes, even as sacrifices for Godlike Deities or Yeshen.
Godwin, feeling You Xuan's intense gaze, felt a chill run down his spine.
Why does it feel like I'm being targeted by some thief?
