Chapter 1054: Two Holes
Chapter 1054: Two Holes
On the southwestern coast of Yamaguchi Prefecture, Su Yu and the high-ranking members of the Blue Star Organization arrived at the Ryuozan Park in Yamaguchi City.
The park was located to the southwest, directly facing the sea. About 20 kilometers to the southwest, across the sea, lay Kyushu Island of Nihon.
Initially, the high-ranking members of the Blue Star Organization were puzzled by Su Yu's decision to bring them here. However, upon arriving, they immediately understood his reasons.
The golden threads of the Tashin Defense Net extended outward from the central "Golden Disk," always remaining densely packed. The gaps between the threads were usually very small, with the smallest being just a few square meters and the largest around ten square meters.
However, at Ryuozan Park, there was an exceptionally large gap!
Calling it a gap might not be accurate; it more resembled a hole.
This hole was a perfectly semi-circular shape with a radius of about 200 meters. If you calculated the area, this single hole covered 60,000 square meters, which was on a completely different scale compared to the surrounding gaps.
Seeing this hole, the high-ranking members immediately understood why Su Yu had brought them here.
But then, another question arose in their minds.
As the host of Nihon, Fujiwara Chihana was the first to ask, "Boss, why is there such a large gap here?"
Others also looked at Su Yu with similar expressions of confusion.
Su Yu calmly answered, "This isn't a gap, but a specially reserved passage in the Tashin Defense Net. It comes from the designer's unique approach."
The principle behind this was not easy to explain in a few words, so Su Yu faced everyone and explained slowly and clearly:
"The initial design of the Tashin Defense Net was mainly to combat the Star Bugs.
The Star Bugs attack other planets, and their method of attack is similar to the Skrulls, opening a portal and then emerging en masse from it.
At first, the Saint Silver people created a defense net without any holes to combat the Star Bugs inside.
As the Saint Silver people gained experience in dealing with the Star Bugs, the defense net went through several updates.
Until the designer of this defense net, Tashin himself, had a sudden inspiration and made a significant technological breakthrough.
When he created the defense net, he reserved two semi-circular holes with a 200-meter radius at both ends of the net, changing the original closed design to one that could connect with the outside world.
After testing, it was found that using this new type of defense net resulted in significantly fewer losses for the military. Gradually, the Tashin Defense Net became the most commonly used defense against the Star bugs."
"No way!" Xu Xiaotian furrowed her brow, completely confused. "Why would a defense net with two holes be more effective than one without any holes? Could it be that there's some special arrangement inside these holes?"
Xiaotian's petite figure quickly flew over the hole, passing through it several times.
But to her surprise, she didn't feel any obstruction inside the hole.
"It seems there's nothing strange inside," Xiaotian mused her chin, speaking to herself. "So, is it because leaving two holes would elevate the overall defense of the net to a higher level?"
"Actually, no," Su Yu shook his head. "The defense of the net doesn't improve because of the holes."
"Then why..."
"Tashin explained it like this," Su Yu said. "According to him, the Star Bugs attack randomly after emerging from the portal."
If there are no holes, the insectoids will randomly break through the defense net at any point. Because the breakthrough locations are it the defense is extremely difficult to manage. However, things change with the presence of holes.
With holes, the insectoids will prioritize attacking through the holes, making the defense more predictable and manageable. After all, the defense net is quite formidable, and the insectoids would find it easier to attack through the existing holes rather than trying to break through other points.
This is similar to how our ancient Chinese sages managed water—blocking it is less effective than channeling it."
"But will this work on the Skrulls?" Prime Minister Cao asked, frowning. "The Skrulls are not insectoids. They are a sentient race like us, with high intelligence. They might not fall for it."
"You don't need to worry about that," Su Yu smiled and replied. "The Tarxin Defense Net is effective against any race, not just insectoids, but also against sentient races."
"And there's a common misconception— insectoids are not devoid of intelligence. High-tier insectoids possess intelligence on par with ours. You can understand this by looking at the high-tier magical creatures on Skrull."
"Oh, right," Prime Minister Cao nodded.
He had indeed been mistaken.
Whenever insectoids were mentioned, he subconsciously thought of the mindless, instinct-driven insectoid armies from movies and TV shows. He almost forgot that high-tier magical creatures are intelligent.
For example, the fish, birds, insects, and even high-tier plants on Skrull possess remarkable intelligence.
Seeing that Prime Minister Cao understood, Su Yu paused and then continued, "In fact, the actions of the Skrulls can be predicted—
We will first engage in battle on the 10th line of defense. Once we withdraw from the 10th line and leave the defense net, the Skrulls will surely notice these two holes.
Initially, the Skrulls will suspect a trap and hesitate to try the holes, instead choosing to attack the main body of the Tarxin Defense Net.
However, after they fail to break through the defense net, they will focus their attention and main offensive efforts on the holes.
After all, the ultimate goal of the Skrulls is to eliminate all humans on Earth. They would rather exhaust themselves in the holes than struggle to break through the defense net.
We only need to set up heavy defenses at the two holes to withstand the Skrulls' attacks."
Su Yu explained calmly.
After fully understanding the structure of the Tarxin Defense Net, he immediately grasped how to use it effectively.
And this isn't hard to understand; the high-tier cultivators present quickly grasped the concept.
"Then... where is the other hole?" Fujiwara Chihana asked.
Su Yu pointed to the northeast: "In Seisen County's Daikomachi, which is the place where Honshu Island and Hokkaido Island are separated by the sea."
"Oh, so that's where it is," Fujiwara Chihana nodded. If anyone in the room were to compare the geography of the Nihon region, no one could surpass her: "It seems we need to reinforce our defenses at these two locations."
"Exactly," Su Yu replied. "We will focus on defending the two holes and closely monitor the other areas of the defense net. This should be the new normal for our future battles."
Su Yu looked at all the high-tier cultivators: "This time, I brought everyone here mainly to see the holes and understand what we need to do next.
For now, everyone is free to move around. Those with game time can enter the game. In two hours, we will regroup here to test the strength of the Tarxin Defense Net."
"Understood," the high-tier cultivators responded one after another.
Today, they have indeed learned a lot. They never expected that the defense net created by the Saint Silver People would have such a unique design.
